We stopped here to get our groceries for camping in Port Hope MI. Nice little grocery store/gas station combo. Have everything you made need for the weekend. We got good ribeyes to grill, and all the fixin’s, potato, sour cream, salad. Nice little grocery store on our way up.

As out-of-town visitors on a week-long stay, my family and I were pleasantly surprised by this market. For its fairly small size it has a nice selection of goods and low prices. The cashiers are very friendly. Apparently that’s just to be expected in this part of the country, but it’s something much appreciated by us coastal urban dwellers.

This market has undergone changes in ownership over the years but the Willises have done a good job for the community here since taking over a few years ago. On the down side is their size. It’s small, so the selection isn’t as extensive as you might find in a larger town. But on the upside, their produce is fresh, and so is the meat. They have a real butcher back there cutting steaks and grinding fresh burger. There is also a deli counter where you can get a good, hot lunch to go in no time at all. The market advertises liquor at state-minimum prices and they have a pretty good selection of wine, and cold beer, too. They are also a Valero gas station. The grocery affiliation is IGA, or Independent Grocers Association. There are limited check out lanes, so in peak season, it’s better to shop early and avoid the five o’clock Friday rush.
