Take a chance on the Last Chance Motel. Although it sounds like a sleazy place that would rent by the hour, it is actually a very spartan and clean motel without a trace of seediness. I stayed there with my daughter the night before an early morning camp. I was encouraged by a review on a different site where a family had stayed there. There appear to be four rooms. We had a room with two double beds, a good size bathroom with a shower, a TV with satellite, a night table, 1 wooden chair, 2 folding chairs, a lamp, an old heater, and a Gideon Bible.(I think that was all the items in the room.) The bathroom had a shelf and a clothes rod, but there were no other places to store clothes. The two beds were in rooms semi-divided by an arch. The bed on one side had no nightstand, nor even room to put one next to it. The other had room on both sides of the bed and a night table by it. The TV was only viewable from this bed. The heater was a bit on the noisy side and about 4 in the morning started pinging. Not incredibly loud, but enough to wake me up. Although it was probably psychosomatic, the headache I developed led me to turn off the heater and open the window.(I had no desire to risk carbon monoxide poisoning.) I quickly got back to sleep for another hour before the rooster began. City boy me didn’t realize that they start crowing an hour before sunrise and don’t just do it once or twice. So I got out of bed and closed the window again until my cell phone alarm woke me up.(No alarm clock in the room, but maybe the TV could have functioned as one.) The shower was hot as long as you didn’t want to take a very long shower. I’m not sure how well it would have worked for multiple people. There was only one sink in the bathroom, but two people in there at the same time won’t feel cramped. Everything was very clean. I didn’t notice any random dirt, spider webs, or stains. The Ritz it ain’t, but the prices weren’t ritzy either. $ 53 for two beds or $ 40 for one. No credit cards, but they did take my check. The little that I interacted with the owner was friendly and pleasant. I would stay there again. It was what I needed without paying extra for extras.
