I really like this place and the service is always great. Heather is a great bartender too and knows how to pour a drink! The wedge salad with flank steak is amazing. the burgers are great and the wings are good too. But the best is the fish tacos. Im not a fish taco person at all but I LOVE theirs!
Its all outdoors so bring the bug spray because there are mosquitos and in the summer its hot but there are fans and a breeze. its dog friendly and you can get there by boat with plenty of dock space!
they also rent and sell paddle boards and kayaks and rent pontoon boats so its a pretty awesome place with a lot to offer! They even have a small amphitheater and sand volleyball court.

1^st time and pleasantly surprised. Granddaughter wanted something Florida beachy. Looked on line and found. Appetizer was great 4 different meals for us and all very good. Reasonable price. Hostess waitress, manager all very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to taking dinner cruise on Friday night.

We discovered this place through a Unilocal review and I’m so glad we did. We’ve taken bunches of friends and family there since our first unexpectedly pleasant visit. It’s larger than it looks from the parking lot and is located next to a water sports business that does lots of escorted local tours. On the other side is a stage built in an old boat where bands play for concerts. The restaurant itself has a wide variety of menu options. I haven’t tried too many of them yet, but I plan to when we go down for the 2016 – 17 winter. Four of us did try the nachos which the server recommended. The two younger ones of us hated them while the two older women thought they were good. I don’t know if it’s because they never really eat Mexican or not, but we found them bland, the salsa was unappealing as was the flavor of the seasoned meat. Even the chips need improved. This by no means dampens my enthusiasm for Gil Dawg’s as we were looking for a laid back, unassuming waterside place to go with our dog for a fun meal.

Great environment, just avg service. Server missing for most of our visit, especially at the end. Mgt nowhere to be seen, not surprising things were lacking. Had to send back a food item, just not right, boiled shrimp !! Potential to be a great place !!

The service is even worse than the food, I sat without a drink or even the waiter coming back for the majority of the meal, the waiter was nice but it just seemed like he was here to have fun and not work (he was off chatting with other workers a lot).
When dinner arrived I received the wrong sides with my meal… The biggest problem besides the service was my «20oz steak» The New York Strip steak was advertised to be a 20oz steak and when it arrived it was a thin piece of steak nearly the size of my palm. I paid 20+ dollars for a mediocre steak with two diet sodas… Wont be back again, wouldn’t recommend.

Lousy Service
Ordered a drink. Sent back three times due to ginger ale flat and bartender telling me it is not flat cause she saw bubbles. Really. ½ hr no drink. Almost left not paying for friends drink cause the waiter blowing us off when we asked for the check

Nice atmosphere. They did a good job putting it all together. I give them credit, it has potential. Food is sub par, and service is sketchy. I hope they get it together. They’re making the effort. I will go back next year when I’m in the area.

Saw two cockroaches on the bar eating off leftover plates of food.
Also saw cockroaches on the floor of the bar near the kitchen area.
Dirty and disgusting for a restaurant.
Do not recommend… who wants to eat there if there are insects everywhere.
Come on guys, clean this place up. If this is how the place is kept what do you think happens in the kitchen.

This was a great little hidden spot n one of the many little harbors located in New Port Richey. They offer so many things from sunset boat tours to kayak rentals all with a conveniently located bar/​restaurant right next door. So you can enjoy the afternoon right on the water then once your done stroll a few feet over to the bar for some great ice cold beers and fresh seafood table side. I opted for the grilled grouper sandwich which was served with a side of tasty fries!!! All I needed to add to the fries was some vinegar and bam my meal was complete. As for the drinks well the beers are served always ice cold as well as the well drinks!!! This spot does tend to be quiet hidden and mostly locals hanging out but thats cool cause once your there you just tend to fit right in…

Our favorite of them all, on the water, in the strip. Loved Amanda! Loved Johnny Cash night. Loved Taylor! We rented Pontoon boat for the day, had a great experience. Food is delish! Clean, a lil more upscale than the others. Fun place!

I have been to Gill Dawg many times, the food is superb the service very good, the entertainment is always top notch.
Our recent visit was great food hot and tasty, there was a server (dont know his name) he was very entertaining and I can tell he loved his job, while preforming his job very well he danced and interacted with the guests and had everyone laughing and applauding him.
Great time will go back again and again.
The entertainment was excellent «R-​Crew» many people were dancing and having a great time.

Jerk chicken quesadillas were to die for, crab cakes must have been good… They went down before I even started on the quesadilla… Lol. Great place good atmosphere can’t wait to come back

I used to love this place but I hadn’t been there for a while. Just went there on my birthday and the bartender served us our first drink after a considerable wait then COMPLETELY ignored us, as well as the couple right next to us. She was constantly looking at her cell phone and not very attentive to any of the customers from my observation, and I happen to be a bartender myself. I’m sorry, but if my drink is empty and I see you on your phone, that is NOT okay. 2 stars only because I used to love it here.

This is a pretty nice spot to chillaxe, take in some live music, or watch a sporting event. When I was there apps are half off if it rains. it didn’t :P
You can rent kayaks next door. There’s also a park very nearby. A bar with pool tables is across the way and this is in the same stretch with Hooters, the casino boat, and a couple of other barsy restaurant places.
The food was solid Americana. Beer prices were. decent not great. Sweet tea was good. :) Service was pretty good. I like the high throne chairs. :)

I’d like to be clear on this: I’m giving 5 stars for location and activities and 1.2 star for food.
First of all, it’s a lovely mini-​mecca for kayaking, paddle boarding, sunset cruises, fishing, which I’d not been aware of. My friend and I were there for drinks and eats.
it is SO HOT there and no place to hide. Please, Gill Dawg, I love your location and would like to visit more throughout the year for cocktails and eats. I see you have heaters but where are the misters? Sure, there’s a breeze as you’re on the water but it just keeps blowing dragon breath around.
My friend and I ordered the Bayou Chips-​and devoured it. Delicious.
We then ordered the Asian Salad – HEAD FOR THE HILLS! It’s every man for himself! I think Chef had a bad day as the dressing and coated-​chicken appeared to be PURE HABANERO! We refused to eat it (an hour later our mouths were still on fire!!!). If you like Asian Salad like I do, you’d expect it to have either no heat or a modicum of heat. OH NO! Not this one. Please, if you dare to order it, make sure the Fire Department is nearby!
We then ordered, as a replacement, the Reuben Sandwiich, which took ½ hour to be delivered. OH NO! SO disappointing – the Corned Beef was the most ‘processed’ type I ever came near. Removed it from my sandwich and was left with a bit of sauerkraut (where was ther rest of it?) and melted cheese. Fed up, just asked for our bill and headed.
Incidentally, the waitress, Gabby, seemed non-​plussed when we told her about the Asian Chicken salad being SO HOT. She said ‘it’s spicy’. Hmmmmmm. Looking at the menu it says ‘not a thing’ about it being even remotely spicy.

So, we stumbled upon this place while looking for a fresh fish sandwich. So glad we did. The atmosphere is great. Outdoors, but still comfy and nice. We had a fantastic view of the sunset and the best part… live regae!
We had sweet potato fries, sweet and delish. Also, fried calamari, and it had hot and sweet peppers which was a nice twist to this classic appetizer, we loved this. Then fish tacos, which were absolutely loaded with fish and also really good, probably my favorite thing we had! ! Finally, we had a grouper sandwich. It was very good, or pretty standard.
I must comment on the French fries. They are hand cut and fantastic! I am somewhat of a fry connessiour, and these were fabulous!

Absolutely love this place. It has a Fun, relaxed atmosphere. The food and beverages are high quality. The service has been great every time I’ve been here. There’s room to romp and relax here. They also rent kayaks and pontoon boats. Great quality experience here.

I really like the venue. It’s an adorable little outdoor bar that sits on a little river/​bayou with kayak and bike rentals. The bar has a small but interesting and well rounded selection of beer. The view is lovely and relaxing. The service is great. I haven’t had any food yet. I’ve only been a few times for a beer with some friends. I really like coming here. Definitely give it a try. It’s an easy going place with a nice Florida feel to it.

Great huge burger with blue cheese and bacon. Fries are awesome as well. This waterside dining spot is a little hidden gem in New Port Richey. A little pricey at $ 11, but definitely fills you up. My friend’s buffalo chicken wrap looked tasty, too.
My only suggestion is to ask for the bun to be toasted more. Live music all week, too.

I enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is great and you can’t ask for a better view. The laid back hippie lifestyle is prevalent at gill dawg. I tried the buffalo chicken wrap– medium sauce, lettuce, and blue cheese crumbles. So I will be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever had blue cheese crumbles. At first, they were OK. Very flavorful and creamy. However, on the second half there was a whooooole lot of it. I felt like I couldn’t even taste the chicken because it was all blue cheese! I wouldn’t mind trying the burger that my friend ordered. I will be back to sample a cheeseburger! The fries were very good, maybe could be a little crispier, but excellent flavor. Gill dawg has entertainment and hosts events and private parties.
