Spruce Creek Park & Campground

Used this park for a kayak launch. The waterways are beautiful by this park, but leaving and coming back in was not fun. The water by the launch site becomes a horrific muddy mess when the tide goes out, so much so, that we could not get our kayaks back in. We had to get a rope and pull them up the fishing pier. It was quite the adventure, but if you pay close attention to the tide, you should be okay. The trails and camping areas looked nice, but we did not use them.

This is a really great park, with walking trails out to a bird observation tower where we watched Ospreys diving for fish and a ton of other birds hanging out on the water. There’s a playground, an interpretive trail, bathrooms, a fishing pier and two different places to launch your kayak or canoe. There’s loads of picnic tables available. There used to be camping here but it seems that the county has closed down that part of the park.

Since I’m a fan of public parks and the struggle in many communities to provide them, I can only be appreciative of this park, which preserves an incredibly cool tidal watershed. The trails (both shelled and au natural) provide ample walking/​hiking interest for a quick outing if you’re in either Port Orange or New Smyrna Beach. The lookout tower is worth venturing through the woods on a well-​marked trail. It can be a bit boggy if there’s been a lot of rain, so take note. Also, this park is dog friendly (leash is required at all times).

Such a great place! I cant believe its free. Great fishing dock, walking trails & playground!!! Lots to do outdoors!!!

It’s close by… and I’ll bet you didn’t even know it!
It sounds sort of funny, but I never even knew this place was an actual park until recently. It was within walking distance of one of my friend’s houses, and I somehow thought it was part of the neighborhood. This place may be cleverly disguised, but there is a lot to see and do, and this has one of the best inland walking paths in all of Port Ornage.
The Good:
Walk it off: Honestly the thing I like the most about Spruce Creek is the different walking trails. They go around the park, and even continue over the water, and everything is just beautiful. I used to come here all the time with friends and it was a cool spot to hang out. And if you’re going on a mid-​afternoon stroll with someone special, you really can’t go wrong with this place. The trail is about 3 miles long, but even so, it feels very short.
Nice and quiet: Aside from the occasional field trip, this place is almost never crowded. This could, of course, be due to the fact that this place is huge, and even when there are a lot of people you just don’t notice them.
Spend the day: While there’s not really a whole lot to *do* per se, there are picnic tables and playground equipment. If you are trying to spend a nice relaxing day out, Spruce creek is the perfect place

Spruce creek is a very peaceful and tranquil place to go visit, away from the noise of Daytona Beach. While it might not have as much stuff to do as a lot of the other volusia parks, I count that as a good thing.
