Have been here many times. Food was okay for the most part. Reserved a party of 15 which ended up being a party of 10. The service was unfortunately mediocre at best. Check back was terrible. We are local working people and expected a little more personalized service. We will do this again but it won’t be here.

Food was excellent! As always! I had the large lobster roll with onion rings. Both were amazing. My grandfather got the oyster sandwich and that was good also. Service was just okay.

We are frequent visitors to McKenna’s Place and have always had good food and good service so we decided to order take out for a small football gathering. The guy on the phone who took the order was rude, hurried through the order and barely let us finish before he hung up. We figured it was because the place was busy, being football Sunday. When we arrived to pick up the order we were surprised to see about 10 people in the place. The man behind the bar, a bald guy named David, continued his rude behavior and as a result we opted not to add a tip. After all, a tip is to recognize good service, right? I would expect to earn a tip the service should be at least courteous. No so, so no tip. Upon reviewing the check, he waved it in the air, shouting across the bar, «nice, thanks a lot Jack, thanks for the tip Jack». By the way, we told him several times the name was Geoff, not Jack. To add insult to injury, the wings looked small and greasy. Sad, because we like to frequent local places, it just won’t be McKenna’s place anymore.

There food has no flavor and the guy asked us if we wanted to share a table the chips were stale and the lobster was not fresh I’m very upset that lobster roll was not worth 25 $ at all and there was a lot of shells in the lobster the Ruben sandwich was so small and had no thousand island sauce and barely any meat at all

Very slow service. Not sure if they have a bartender or if it was supposed to be self serve. Asked some bald guy named dave about a drink and seemed like i was asking for a million dollars. Food was horrible. The place is decently big with nice TVs.

We have been to this location many times and the food is always good. We just had dinner this evening and once again we enjoyed a terrific meal. The service is always friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is comfortable and the music is just loud enough to enjoy it without being an intrusion. It’s nice to know we have a place to eat that is reasonably priced and reliably good. The bonus is that we have been waited on by different people each time and never had bad service at Mckenna’s Place.

My husband and I visited McKenna’s Place recently. It is a gem for Port Orange. A seafood restaurant with fresh fish! My husband had the Mahi fish sandwich. It was delicious, cooked perfectly. Kudos to Chef Edy. We had an order of Honey Garlic Wings, the best we’ve ever had. We also split an order of Reuben Bites. They were a meal by themselves. So crunchy, topped with Corn Beef. Try them. Love the restaurant and its family owned. Highly recommend it. Thank you Chris and Michelle.

Took the family last night and the last time I was in there it was a Beef OBradys. Wow they did a great job in making the place open and clean. There is plenty of choices when it comes to draft beer. Our waitress was awesome and the only reason why I did not go with 5 stars is the wait it took for us to get our food. I did the raw bar and I highly recommend if you are in the mood for clams and oysters with some cold pints this is the place. Nicely done !

We finally tried this place out, and the only thing that I can say is that we should not have waited so long. It’s ironic that being right on the coast, this entire area has a miserable selection of seafood places. That is, until you come here. Situated in a sopping center at the northeast corner of Nova and Dunlawton, McKenna’s occupies the space formally occupied by the abomination known as beef obrady’s, plus another whole storefront. They gutted everything and it’s all new, and very well designed. It is a family owned and run place, and you get that feel immediately. They have another location in New Smyrna as well. I was told that there is always a McKenna there, and when we went both Chris and Michelle were there, checking tables and making everyone feel welcome. You get the same feel from the service staff as well. I hate going to a new place — I want to try everything on the menu, and made an attempt to restrain myself this time — but it was difficult. The menu is good sized, but not unmanageable, with a good selection of both seafood, raw bar, as well as burgers, wraps, chicken wings, pasta, chicken dishes, sandwiches, salads and a pretty extensive kid’s menu. We started out with the smoked fish dip, which came with jalapenos on the side & plenty of crackers. It was excellent(a word that comes up often here) — a slight hint of smoke and overall very well balanced. Next up was the New England Clam Chowder — I’m from Boston, and this is right up there with the best that I’ve had — not too thick, plenty of clams — very well done. French Onion soup was excellent — not at all salty as some are. A great mix of rich beef stock, onions, and cheese. I had the fresh(yes-fresh!) tuna steak special. Exactly seared the way that it should have been. Fish and chips were some of the best that I have seen in years — lightly breaded crispy crusted white fish — not a heavy soggy beer batter type. The menu has daily Blue Plate Specials including Corned Beef and Cabbage, Meatloaf, Shepherd’s pie, Pot roast plus daily specials. They had a Maine lobster and King crab legs going on the night that we were there. There is also a nicely priced lunch menu as well One thing that can’t be missed is the fact that there is an excellent selection of craft beer as well — 20 or so taps that feature some nice beers, and after talking with Michelle(who is a beer aficionado), I was told that they are rotating taps to keep the variety on some changing. The taps are set up right as well — right through the cooler wall, short draft lines, less chance for them to get dirty and easier to clean. All in all, this place is a gem in an area where you should be able to get good, fresh seafood anywhere. Unfortunately, this is not the case. McKenna’s is the only place in the area that I would recommend to anyone looking for good food at a fair price that actually appreciates your business — a real breath of fresh air in an area dominate by old, has been tourist type seafood places. The owners care about their business. I find it curious that when someone has a bad experience with a place, they will take the time to give it a bad review, yet they don’t mention a problem(if there really is one) to the management for correction. Having owned a restaurant, that’s just a pet peeve of mine I highly recommend it.

Firstly this place is an improvement of the sports bar that was there before them. Much brighter and looks cleaner. You can tell they gutted out the old place and expanded with new everything. Oh a lot of TVs. More than the last place had. The server was very nice. Turned out to be the hostess. I think I was the only one to pick up on this in my party. She was attentive and took very good care of us. The food was good. They have a nice selection on their menu. Really something for everyone. I had the fish and chips. The fish was nice and flakey and cooked very well. Over all nothing was outstanding to me but everyone was happy with their food and will definitely consider McKenna’s when thinking of places to eat out.

Wow. Worst sports bar I’ve ever been to. Where to begin. I guess with appetizers. We ordered nachos and they came out burnt — not a little burnt, a lotta burnt. As if it caught fire and was put out. What sane person would go ahead and deliver black, burnt nachos to a table and not think twice about I don’t know. It passed the cook’s quality standards, and then the server’s. Blew my mind. We ordered mac and cheese for my 1.5 year old son. It was Kraft mac and cheese. You know, the straight, thin pasta, with powered cheese? Everyone knows what Kraft mac and cheese looks like. This was it. No question about it. We paid $ 5.99 for a 29 cent box of mac and cheese. They could have gone any number of routes choosing a mac and cheese that was less discernible, but no, they went with the most obvious cheapest mac and cheese they could find. My wife ordered a salad. It came with a breadstick. The breadstick was burnt — not a little burnt, a lotta burnt. As if it caught fire and was put out. What sane person … you know what I’ve already given this review more care than the entire place deserves. Definitely never going back.

Not bad, not bad at all. They have a very large menu which focuses mainly on seafood and pretty much your standard selection of bar food. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It tasted great and was a massive piece of chicken. They also have a nice selection of craft beers on tap at very reasonable prices. Far more cheaper than other places in town. They also have a full bar and plenty of TVs to watch whatever sports you want.
