This place is good for one thing and one thing only: fishing. The bf is an avid fisherman so he booked us a night here for a recent mini vacay. He called the marina to reserve and asked if there was tent camping available. They told him yes. He asked if there was electric and water available at the tent sites, he was told yes. Unfortunately, the electricity hook up was only for RVs, not small enough for what we needed for tent camping(as we had asked). At $ 28, for essentially primitive camping(there are no restrooms except at the marina restaurant) and no showers, the price was way too steep for the location. We set up camp, I passed out in our tent and the bf got to fishing. As soon as it got dark, cars started to pull up to our campsite and surrounding campsites — vehicles that hadn’t been there earlier belonging to people who hadn’t paid the steep $ 28/night to camp! The bf was seriously peeved about freeloaders coming and taking up his fishing space. The most frustrating part though, when he went to buy ice at the marina and mentioned this problem to the staff the attendant said not a word. He just stood there like a brick wall and didn’t respond. Nothing frustrates me more than poor customer service. That combined with the not so pretty campsite and the horrendous mosquito attack has made this a big no for me.

Came to check it out since we found out about it on Google. Staff was friendly, burger and fried zucchini were good. Good place to kick back and cast your pole. $ 5 to fish from pier.

good for camping, good for fishing I am from Austin and wouldn’t mind moving to Port Lavaca, if they had more jobs available in town. So it was me, my boyfriend, his mother and his cousin, we came out around 2am, parked our car, pitched our tent and got to fishing. They do charge to fish on the deck of the marina. For some odd reason the bigger fish hang out there. We stayed on the shoreline to save money. We caught a bunch of little fish, lots of variety though. We all got very sunburned so remember to take your sun block.
