St Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center

I had my 3^rd child here in 2015 & then again emergency surgery yesterday. In both visits everyone was just wonderful. The Nurses are amazing

A very good friend of mine was in a program there 4 about 3 weeks after he spent 2 weeks in another local private hospital. When he left the hospital had to go somewhere for a week until St Charles had room. Their program was very successful 2 this day 5 years later. He had been in the previous mentioned hospital 2x’s B4 this time & they were never successful enough on their own or to get him into the next step. But this 3^rd x’s a charm! He’s been clean great I’m sure Temptations he is married with a child doing wonderfully. I think if he didn’t get in there you would not be with us today.

This review is for the ASU department. My niece had her tonsils taken. Everyone from the nurses to the doctors, to the receptionists were amazing. They made my niece feel so comfortable as well as her parents. All smiles throughout the department. Even the cafeteria staff were great!

Some ER visits are better than others but usually you are seen pretty quickly. Our last visit was not as good as previous ones, but I still recommend their ER.

Don’t go to St Charles for any radiology procedure especially MRI or CT’s! MRI techs with no CT training and CT techs with no MRI EXPERIENCE are being forced by their admin to cross train making a very unsafe and hostile environment! These techs have spent years learning their respective specialties and now are being told to do exams they have no knowledge to do! Would you go to a Dr. that was forced to do exams outside his expertise? I know I wouldn’t!
Both CT and MRI CAN kill you if not done properly! Go to Stony Brook University or Mather where they care!!!

I might be biased because they saved my life. During the H1N1 outbreak I unfortunately picked it up & was a relative goner. Thanks to the attentive & caring staff of St.

Do not use this hospital unless you plan to pay the emergency room Dr over and above what your insurance pays, balanced billing. It seems the way the get around it is they call the Drs sub contracters and they do not have any agreements with your health ins company and bill you directly. I do not understand how a hospital that accepts your insurance can employ Drs that do not. Maybe they should where signs that say I do not accept your insurance and see if any patients want to be helped by them. The price of health insurance is high enough but then to use it in an emergency and be charged, over and above what the company wants to pay, by a sub contracter employed by the hospital is unfair. Patients should know if the Dr working on them is going to accept the insurance that was provided, after all that is the first thing the hospital asks for after your name.

My girlfriend went to ER for persistent high fever and illness of unknown origin. She had a reaction from antibiotics (vancomycin) they gave her (they were giving it to her too fast!!). her skin was burning with excruciating pain, its called redman’s syndrome, a common reaction if vanco is given too fast. It took them 40 damn long minutes to tend to her, to stop the damn machine and give her benadryl. WTF! I feel really guilty I wasn’t there to man handle the situation. anyway, if you goto this hospital, try to go there with a buddy who will be there w/​u at all times so that if something like this happens, they can be there to force care. also, a lot of the doctors there don’t communicate with specialists right away and may prescribe something to you that really won’t help. so make sure to refuse all chest x-​rays, and antibiotics until a specialist clears it (in this case it was a infectious disease specialist).

however, i should say that they do have some nice nurses up on the 3^rd floor and some of the older nurses in ER, where really nice. and the hospitalist… very calming people.

My friend was here for a month for a stay that should’ve been 3 days, tops. They were bounced around between «specialists» who knew nothing about the condition, the name of which was changed 4x.

Do not go here unless you want to be «balance billed» by their physicians! I had injured my knee, and it hurt a lot, so I went to my local emergency room which happens to be St Charles. I was treated by Dr. Hillel Trope, and St Charles is an in network hospital on my policy.
My insurance company paid Dr. Trope $ 268 for what amounted to a 5 minute encounter. However, I am getting «balance billed» by his billing company for $ 161 with such stupid charges as a $ 81 «late night encounter fee» etc that my insurance company refused to pay. The statement of benefits said they were overbilled above customary charges, which I agree with. So his billing service «Probill» will continue to send me nasty pink letters, and I am not going to pay them anything.
So be careful of who treats you here, and ask them if they are going to balance bill you. If you are seriously injured or unconscious, I guess you are out of luck and they will send you nasty bills. I would recommend going somewhere else other than St Charles though to avoid unpleasant surprises. Reasonable people expect that if you go to an in network hospital your charges will be negotiated with your insurance and not arbitrarily billed to you. I do not care if the guy is under contract or something, if you are the working emergency physician you should be under the same agreement the hospital is under.
