Michelle is a really nice hair dresser and she worked hard on my hair.

Michelle has been my go to for probably 5 years and I can honestly say my experience is always nothing but pleasant. While most of my friends insist on going to a barber I refuse to make that change and Michelle has never disappointed! I am typically much less time consuming being a male but she always manages to squeeze me in when I call on short notice and if thats not good customer service idk what is! A+

I would give 2 and a half stars. Roots falls short on customer service. For the expensive salon price, it is sure lacking the personalized and comfortable experience. Upon arrival I wasn’t properly greeted or asked if I would like a drink. I did not feel welcome. Also, the complementary services written on the board were not offered to me. My hair stylist seemed very unsure of herself. I did not receive a proper consultation and I felt like the hair stylist didn’t understand what I wanted. Thankfully my hair came out well even though it wasn’t what I intended. It was OVERPRICED. And a GROUPON ripoff… this place has potential but it is half assed… fix it

As a rebuttal to the salon owner«Michelle» that claimed me to be a fake review: 1. My middle name is Annalise, but is what I’m commonly known by. When I had made my appointment, I had used my legal first name. 2. I have proof of purchase, which I would be happy to share with Unilocal if need be. 3. Please take time to think what type of business owner you are, and how much is validated by my first review of you. Rather than messaging me or commenting on my review on how you can make my experience better, you look my name up in your computer system to see«who the bad reviewer could be». A real invasion of my information. In short, CUSTOMERSBEWARE. PS– The owner has edited her responses to this review as I point out her unprofessional nature, which I have screen-saved in case of future«false claims» again. Also, I was Michelle’s client, where the service I received from her was not acceptable.

I tried roots studio after I saw one of the master stylists from off 7th salon had started working there. I came across a groupon for a color cut and style for 49 $ and since I knew the work of the stylist, I wasn’t too nervous to try a new place. The place was hard to find, I wasn’t told it was actually a place called Sola salons and roots is a rented space within the building. Since I was 20 minutes late because of the confusion in location I didn’t mind much having to sit around in between services and jumping from chair to chair. One of the girls even made me a latte that tasted like it was from Starbucks :) When my stylist came over to discuss what I wanted to have done, I explained my concerns about my color and what my goal was. I showed her a picture and explained my hair had been dyed dark before and my old highlights came through after a few washes(which is normal) since I didn’t have any color on my root I asked if she thought it would be nessecary to put a subtle frame highlight to even it out. She agreed and we spent time picking out colors, I really liked the personal attention and felt she really listened to me. After expressing my concerns she said we could always throw a «glaze» over it and cover them up if I wasn’t feeling them and said she would never charge me for that since it would be much harder for her to pull color than to cover it up. Long story short, after they washed out the color I could see how golden my root looked and when she started to dry it it only got lighter. It’s always awkward to speak up but she made me feel comfortable during the consultation so I told her I was unhapy. A few of the other stylists got involved saying things like it looked great In their opinion which only made me feel targeted and uncomfortable, I knew the look I was going for and it didn’t look like the picture. Long story short, they put a glaze on it which helped but my root is now a warmer color than the rest of my head and has a slight redish tint. I was charged for the highlights and to cover them which I was told I wouldn’t be and this doubled the amount of the groupon. The girl at the front desk asked me if I wanted to book another appointment for the future. I declined and left dissapoonted. Groupon gave me a partial refund to have it corrected at another salon. I don’t want to place the entire blame on the salon as I was prob not clear in what I wanted, which is why we had the consult. My stylists had said to the manager«i dont think she wanted any light pieces from the consult we had» which was why i was confused i was sitting there with a blonde root. I only wish I wasn’t promised not to be charged if I wasn’t happy with the frame highlight and maybe I wouldn’t have agreed to try it.
