Stay Away from Art van’s ! Visited the Art Van store in Port Huron and like most people went to the so called clearance area.(what a joke) this is just a ploy to get you into the store. The items in that area are mostly cheap poorly made furniture not«clearance«. I was approached by a friendly sales person who right away lead us out of there and showed us the better items. We were interested in a sofa and told the sales person we needed to take a measurement back at out home to get a better idea if it would fit. He told us to wait a minute he was going to get his associate to help us. Out comes this arrogant guy who right away tries to pressure us into leaving a deposit on the sofa. We tell him no because we have to measure and make sure it will fit and that we would take his business card and get back with him. He then proceeds to tell us that it is «on sale today«and we would have to leave a deposit. At this point I am starting to get a little pissed, and tell him that if he wanted to do business us he could give us the same price tomorrow. He then says what’s a matter you don’t want to save money? At this point I tell him good bye and we will never be in an Art Van store again. As I am leaving I see the other salesman who first greeted us and tell him I think your sales tactics are shady and I will be reporting you to the better business bureau. I am done with Art Van reminds me of a used car salesman back in the 70’s Art Van’s price structure is confusing everything is always on sale, they claim you are getting 40−70% off, but how would you know as everything is always on sale ? Update: I read some other reviews of Art Van and it seems that this is one of their tactics getting a «closer«in there to try and close the deal. This is a high pressure tactic that went out in the 70’s this is not how people do business today… Stay away from Art Van !!
