I happened to walk by here with my husband one night, and decided to take a look. All the pastries were super pretty, and the place seemed pretty clean. The 2 ladies working there were very nice, and kept telling us how everything was super fresh. We got an almond cookie sandwich, a custard like pastry, and twisty conch shaped pastry, this one the owner gave to us for free. It was about $ 5. When we got home and tried them, they tasted far from fresh. I didn’t even finish them, nor did my husband. Also a major turn off, was the people working there were outside smoking right in front of the door. The bakery was filled with cigarette smoke. It was a after 7pm, but it was still business hours. I will come back and give them another try, because they were so nice, and I like the idea of the bakery.

Already been here a few times! Delicious pastries you just can’t find elsewhere in a place like oxnard! Get the Bird’s Nest!

If I could leave no stars I would! The pastries were really pretty but tasted really cheap as if they were purchased frozen! Aside from the taste each pastry we purchased were really hard and the bottom layer of the pastries looked and had the texture of styrofoam, of course it was sugar/cream but it totally ruined the entire treat I truly would not recommend this place to anyone I would take your business down the street to spud nuts! Or whole foods in the collection if you feel like eating something out of the usual they have better international pastries there

I am pretty picky about my dessert choices and Wow I was very surprised ! I had the lemon cake and loved it ! Was very happy that they were open until 8 P.M. because after eating dinner at the dumpling house my wife and I went over a had some dessert at Mikado. We will definitely go back and enjoy more pastries and cake in the near future. There were 2 very friendly women and they were very patient while we looked at all the selections they had to offer.

I was so happy to see this bakery in Port Hueneme! And then, to find out that they don’t bake anything — they have stuff brought in from L.A. Really? The owner’s wife seemed very unhappy being there — sounds like it was his biz idea, but she had to help out. She mentioned that she had a degree in chemistry(or something) like this was all beneath her… I bought a couple of pastries for my hubby, and he said they tasted cheap… Too bad. I like to support local businesses, but this seems like a loser.

Stopped in to grab the family a little dessert… Wow! I’ve had many éclairs but none as good as these! Can’t wait to go back to try some of their other desserts.

I did not try their food. I went in thinking because of the name Mikado, there would be maybe some manju, taro bread, or mochi. The pastries were American and Greek. They looked good but not what I was in the mood for. When I asked if they had any Asian or Hawaiian pastries she said«the name right? No sorry». Please change your name. It’s like saying«steak house» and being vegan.

For a store that just recently opened, they already have a bad in rep in my eyes. The scheduled open hours are from 10a-6p. The time now for this post is 10:45a and they are still closed, on a Sunday morning. ***Note to owner: At least have a sign that says what the you will open if there is a reason you are not open on time. Considering coming back to actually rate the food, but for an overall outlook on the business, not so good…(Stay tuned for possible updated review…)

A super great place to grab coffee and little cake. They are perfectly sized to leave your sweet tooth satisfied. I HIGHLY recommend the Napolean– flaky on the outside, lightly sugared, and a creamy/doughy consistency on the inside. The eclairs are also amazing and they fill them with about a pound and a half of cream. Then there is the Snickers cake… pretty much self explanatory. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong. This place is exactly what this city needed.

Oh my goodness, absolutely delicious! This isn’t your every day bakery, I was pleasantly shocked! I bake myself so I am rather critical of other people’s baking but this place is FABULOUS. It tastes like homemade, delicious baked goods and their prices are really cheap! Check them out!
