Went here for friend’s birthday wed night. For Westchester I would say it’s a decent Indian restaurant. Not as good as any in nyc. Not anywhere near high-end like Tamarind in Tribeca which I consider best indian. But nice locale, good views, good parking nearby, and quiet for conversation. Any of the lamb dishes like Lamb Bhuna are good. Sauvignon blanc from New Zealand was decent. For Westchester, this is better than most.

Delicious food, attentive staff, and clean and quiet restaurant. I’ve been a long time fan of Tandoori, and a family meal this past weekend continued to meet my expectations. Around 7pm on a Saturday the restaurant was less than half full. We ordered a lot of food — meat samosas, samosa chat, and papadams to start, entrees: chicken vindaloo, lamb josh, and andras chili chicken, amd sides: onion kulchi, garlic naan, and had beer and wine. Everything was spiced to perfection and adjusted as we had asked(1 person didn’t want spicy, 1 other wanted as spicy as possible). Tasted very fresh and flavorful. Staff was attentive and gave great recommendations. All in for four people it came to around $ 120 pre tip — we ordered a ton of food and it was really reasonable. Highly recommended!

Consistently the best Indian food in Westchester! We have been eating here for over 20 years! Also, they are good with takeout and their lunch buffet is an amazing bargain! Not the cheapest, but always the best!

We came to know about this restaurant by chance, when we were introduced to Tandoori by our local friends. And we loved it so much that we have decided to visit it on every special occasion. The way they serve their sizzling Tandoori chicken is incredible.

Food: A Price: B Service: C Décor: D Cleanliness: F For almost 20 years, this had remained as my favorite Indian restaurant. I became a little disappointed in recent years that no money seemed to be going into the décor of the restaurant but even after moving an hour north I would still take advantage of any trip to Port Chester to stop in to Tandoori for a meal. Recently though, we had a family dinner there and while sitting on the opposite side of the buffet area, we saw a small roach or some kind of water bug crawling under the sill of the buffet. We showed the host and wait staff using the flashlight on a cell phone and watched it crawl back into the buffet and then quickly turned it off so as not to upset their other patrons. I wasn’t looking for a discount on our bill, but I was pretty disappointed by how lightly the staff took it without so much as an apology, considering they saw it crawling next to my 4 year olds head. Given how much I love the food at Tandoori, I might have tried to see it as a fluke, but unfortunately, it just adds to the fact that the whole restaurant feels old and kind of dingy and the bathrooms(at least the men’s bathroom) felt pretty dirty and had no sign for employees to wash their hands. On top of that, on the way to the bathroom, I passed an employee letting out a nasty cough right into glasses that he was polishing without turning away. Sadly, I doubt I can get all of that out of my mind so it’s pretty unlikely I will be going back. Even if all area’s were perfect, nothing compensates for a dirty restaurant.

I’ve only had a few dishes here like the chicken tikka masala and tandoori and they were both good. The nan is also very good as well as the veggie samosas. I still not have tried their lunch buffet but I definitely will. I’ve also ordered delivery and the food always came fast.

Overall a solid Indian restaurant. Conveniently located on main street in Port Chester, this venue offers tasty dishes at a reasonable price. Certainly the best Indian place in Port Chester, in my opinion.

Took 2 hrs to deliver. Didn’t have the thing i ordered so delivered whatever else pleased them with a note attached that they didn’t have what i ordered. Didn’t bother to call me to inform me or ask my opinion.

Fast service great food. This place used to have very slow service and we got to a point where we would only do takeout. But for the recent times we’ve been here the service has been very fast and attentive. Nice turnaround!

I have enjoyed the lunch buffet at this restaurant many times over the past 7 – 8 years, and I find it to be very tasty, with great value for the money. My favorites include the chicken tikka masala and the saag. There is quick turnover, so everything is fresh. We returned yesterday, after not having been in a while, and I was pleased to see dosas, which I don’t recall having had there previously. Another standout was the tandoori chicken: moist and flavorful, with an addictive smoky taste. Put some raita on top, and you’re good to go. Very good pickles and chutney as well. The best part, though, is the price: Less than $ 12 each for the all-you-can eat buffet.

My 88 year old mother walks into this restaurant one day about 5 to get take out(early bird special) and the owner says the chicken is closed and in her cure, old lady way says she just felt like Indian Food to take out. bottom line he made her something she can’t remember especially for her and didn’t charge her. So we went back for her birthday. I spend ½ hour reading the hugely mixed reviews about this place and it’s food. OMG, what a bunch of snobs some of you are. I can’t tell authenticity because I have never been to India. If you authenticity, go back there, So a complaint the food was dry? I asked our waiter what was the most tender dish meat was he had and i had his recommended lamb. Spicy. Excellent curry. TASTY, TENDER and what do i know? It was good. Tasted like Bengali, not Indian? Really professor? Our samosas,(Beef and vegetable) were not greasy. All the sauces were excellent. spiced perfectly. However, the service was bad. Slow and our waiter didn’t understand English very well. Drinks were slow, but once we got going the appetizers and the mains came at the proper time. for the service only, i would have given them 3 stars, but the food made up for it. This is a friendly, well lit place, clean and recommended.

Not authentic, greasy and the nan was dry. For background, I spent a month in India and came back craving Indian food. I love the simmering, richly layered spice of the northern curries and the sweeter, mainly coconut fish curries of the south. And I love a good nan. Our first tip was that only 1 person who worked there appeared to be Indian. The samosas were quite greasy, but fine they are samosas. We then ordered a lamb curry and a spinach veggie curry. The chunks of lamb were hard, instead of slow cooked till it falls apart. The spinach dish was ok, pretty basic. And the nan was hard and dry. Come on, at least get that right! If you want the real thing, look elsewhere.

Food is not good quality, because its doesn’t taste like indian food, taste like Bengali, i think this is not suitable for indians or other Asians.

Great value buffet lunch on a Sunday! There is good variety and the quality to value ratio is very high, making this spot very attractive. The chicken tikka is creamy and the chicken is made up of mostly the breast, which balances the creaminess. There is plenty of nan and the paneer is very smooth and tasty. There are several other curries and they are also flavorful. The beef was good albeit some pieces being a little tough. Many vegetarian options as well. The quality of the salads is average and the desserts are the usual syrup laden delicacies.

Had the chicken tikka nan and chicken tikka marsala. Both were just ok. Didn’t eat anything bad but I am still on the hunt for great indian food in my area after trying this place…

We love Tandoori for take out. The food is always consistent. The chicken tikka masala and the chicken madras are always delish. Those are our go to dishes. Garlic nan is always hot and fresh. I would give this 5 stars except the ambiance inside isn’t amazing, it’s fine. If you are looking for consistent food Indian food, this is a great option in Westchester.
