Definitely better than other«Latin» or «Spanish» food choices in notoriously boring Westchester dining. We ordered a few things, The stewed chicken an veggies over french fries, Seco de Res, stewed beef with beans and rice, and a paella-like rice dish. The meal came with pickled red onions and their tangy, spicy, white sauce. Now, the beef in the Seco de Res was a bit dry, but edible, and hearty, for $ 7. It came with beans and rice which were also very good, but plain. The chicken dish was great, except the fries get soggy, which may just be the way they prepare it in Peru. It also came with a side of rice. The paella-like rice dish was full of seafood! Clams, mussels, shrimp and squid, almost every bite had a chewy seafood bit in it, but it was clearly frozen seafood and tasted a bit gum-y. Otherwise, it was a fine dish. Overall, the meal was good, considering we had to eat on a park bench over by the water, because they kicked us out. We knew they would, because we called on our way over, and says they close at 8:30. Their soda, forgot what it was called, in a pink can, is a local Apple soda. It was very tasty and a great refresher for the spicy sauce. Which reminds me, the spicy sauce must be one of the best parts of the meal. It was fresh, tangy, creamy and spicy all at the same time. I must know what it is. I must have it. It made everything else more edible and quite good.

So I enjoy living life on the edge, and as a non-spanish speaker going to this little hole in the wall in Port Chester requires a little of that«on the edge» mentality. Once you get past the look of the place or the fact that the staff barely speaks a lick of english — this is some FANTASTIC peruvian food! There are a ton of other restaurants in this area with various south american themes, but this one is da bomb! My favs: Pollo Soltado Ceviche Mixto Tamales — when they have them Arroz con Gambas Be careful with the green dipping sauce that comes with the bread — its addicting and spicy. You’ll love hating its burn! The bread is fantastic also. One thing you need to know when going here: para llavar = We’ll take the rest to go please!
