This is a top notch museum. Very comprehensive and interpretive. The museum is truly eye candy. This is as good as, if not better than the Gillmore Auto Museum in Michigan. The curator has left no stone unturned in explaining the Pontiac automobile contribution to American culture. This is not just a bunch of cars, although there are plenty in a rotating collection. The curator will give you an all day tour if that is what you desire. The research and literature collection is top notch, and so is the toy and Pontiac memerobalia collection. The Buick Museum in Flint, Michigan OWNEDBYGM, a corporate entity, does not hold a candle to this museum. Really nice gift shop with authentic Pontiac collectibles for sale.

Was not sure what to expect but hey it is always fun checking out new places. Walking in the door you are greeted right away from employees at the counter. They have a sign in book and a suggested donation bucket. It is a private museum. The place is not big at all but carried enough items to see some of the past history along with a library to view printed material. It was ok, good for the owner he has a nice collection.

From the time I walked in the door to the time I finished was exactly 19 minutes. And that is because I went back to make sure there wasn’t a door I missed or a whole other part of the building that maybe the war demolished and I could have scoured the rubble to add a few more minutes to my Pontiac experience! There were a dozen cars on display. Two 64GTO verts? If your going to only have a hand full of vehicles, then you need to mix it up a bit! I drove more than an hour to get here and it was not worth the trip. The town on a Saturday was as dead as Fred! Unless your passing thru to go somewhere more pressing. Don’t bother!

The museum was a nice surprise that my parents and I visited while meeting up between Chicago and St Louis. This small, private museum had a great collection of Pontiac and Oakland cars. The owners of the collection are right there to tell you all about them, the presentation is lovely, and everything is up close. The museum is free, so be sure to get something from the gift shop or make a donation. What was especially enjoyable to me was that in addition to the cars, there was a large collection of Pontiac, Oakland, and general automotive ephemera setting the mood for the times of the various cars. I enjoyed watching the videos of old Pontiac sales training films and other corporate media from the 50s. There is also a library where you can browse old manuals and sales print materials. It was a great place to visit and is worth a stop in addition to the other Route 66 sites that the town has built.
