There are, in fact, a TON of dead animals in this bar… if that offends you, don’t go… or if cheeky graffiti and naked ladies on the men’s room wall will stimulate a negative trigger response… HOWEVER, if you wish to visit a true, small-town heartland bar — where the Hawks, Cubs, Sox, Bears and Bulls game will always be on the TVs — with a huge selection of liquor, friendly service and very decent/reasonable prices, this is the place to be. If the place isn’t too crowded you can peruse the memorabilia including the history of the building(which has been serving liquor since prohibition was repealed… well, legally… who knows what all went on off the public record). Colorful scenery, colorful characters abound… photos, tschotchkes and souvenirs make it almost museum-like, but a museum with plenty of good stuff on tap.

8 strangers go into a bar and come out happy and filled with the local flavor and surprisingly filled with local food down the street. We went in because one of the group needed to hurry. We otherwise would have gone to Bernardi’s a local good food place. We find a friendly bartender, who indicated there is no food service, but we can order from the place down the street and here is the menu from down the street. Another one says I haven’t played shuffleboard for years. Drinks were inexpensive and the yuppies had there expensive good stuff. The food arrived from the guy were ordered from on the phone and a banquet broke out. The food was cheap and some of the best bar food imagined. We stayed for about 45 minutes and even the most critical of the group said wow what a great place.

If you are not from Pontiac you would be well advised to stay away, unless you enjoy aggressive drunks and rude service. We went in for drinks and were treated quite rudely by the bartender. I thought she was just surly until I saw her interacting pleasantly with the other patrons whom she obviously knew. Another time we went in to play pinball(they have since replaced the pinball machines with poker machines.) We asked the person behind the bar(who I believe was an owner) to make change for a $ 10 bill so we could have quarters for the pinball machine. We tried to play and discovered that it was malfunctioning. We informed the bartender that the pinball machine was malfunctioning to which he replied, «Yeah, that thing don’t work.» We tried to play shuffleboard, but it is right by the dartboards and it was difficult to play without the dartboard players and us getting in each others way. The clientele playing darts were also aggressive since they didn’t know us and kept putting their beers on our shuffleboard table. We just left since drunken bar fights isn’t really our scene. If you are visiting and would like to have some drinks it would be best to visit a restaurant in town with a bar. I would recommend David’s.

Great towny bar complete with dead stuffed animals covering the walls and cheap beer. When I say there are dead animals, im dead serious. There must be at least 100 taxidermy from all sorts of species. no humans though :-( Best part of the bar, other than the squirrel smoking a cigar, is the regulation sized suffleboard along the wall. This game is a lot of fun and an awesome bar game. Tip: watch your tab, the bartender we had was legally blind and wearing inch thick glasses. Love, Silky
