Another fantastic dinner at JJ’s tonight. The lamb shank was incredible, fell right off the bone. My daughter had the hanger steak and lobster risotto which was superb. All the sauces, from the lamb to the duck confit appetizer, were delicious. The wine selection phenomenal, we shared a bottle of Jonata. All in all another special and superb evening at JJ’s.

Great meal and well prepared food. Food is great. Service was great. Excellent dessert list, must try, great wine store and pricing. Wine at the restaurant is priced at wine store price plus corkage few. I give this 5 stars. All good prepared when ordered.

Excellent food, good wine selection for our meal made by the owner. Though pricey, it was worth it.

Awful experience. We went Friday night 2⁄5 and wanted to go next door but there was a long wait. It took about 20 minutes for the server to come around to get our drink. Since that took so long, I asked for him to put in an order for the brie. About 10 minutes later, he came back around and asked if we wanted the brie, he forgot. Our drinks sat empty for a while. We got the brie and never saw our server again. After about 20 – 30 minutes, I got a gal there to get us two cups of soup and another drink. She actually ended up checking us out. The first server recommended a red wine — $ 15 a glass. We could have gotten a bottle for that. My friend and I split the check in half and put in two cards. When the gal came to bring us the receipts, she ran my friend’s card twice. Terrible experience all around. I don’t recommend this place and I will never go back. Next time I will wait 30 minutes at the restaurant next door. It would have been quicker and better service.

I hate to leave a bad review, I really do. The first visit my meal was inedible. I don’t remember what it was now but I sent it back which I have only done one other time in my life because I hate to complain and I’m not confrontational but I was hungry and still couldn’t eat it. I ordered something else, it was just okay be at least I could eat it. They charged me for both meals! No visit from a chef or manager. Our party had atleast 12 people and 5 minutes after closing time they wee turning on lights and turning up chairs. It was embarrassing and awkward. We were not inappropriately hanging around just chatting. Most places would at least let you finish desserts and coffee without feeling rushed. I swore to not go back after getting my check. So overpriced for a bad experience! I reluctantly went back a year later at the request of a friend. I ordered tuna nicoise salad. I’ve had it several times at other places and I love it. The tuna was seared on the outside and raw in the inside. Like tuna sashimi, one of my all time favorite foods! What can go wrong? Well it wasn’t sushi quality to be prepared that way and in fact it wasn’t even restaurant grade tuna. It was so chewy I could barely cut it apart and very fishy smelling. I couldn’t believe it! I softly mentioned something to the server about the smell and the girl said that was because it was fresh. Umm, no. They also charge you for the bread they bring to the table which is strange. I don’t like this place because they are very pretentious and overpriced yet the food is absolutely terrible. I’ve traveled all over and eaten at more fine dining restaurants than I probably should but better to let the food be pretentious and the staff simply professional. I felt cheated and left hungry both visits and did not feel that the manager was the least bit sorry about my poor experience either time, rather offended. I think the only way they could possibly stay open is from a customer base that simply doesn’t know any better, have not eaten better, and assume from the attitude, pricing, and French bistro atmosphere that the food they are getting is fancy. I hope no one ever asked me to go here again. And I do really hate leaving bad reviews, so I’m sorry, but it’s awful! I have to leave saying at least something positive so I will say that they seem to have a very extensive wine selection as well as an impressive dessert menu though I’ve never tried either here. Maybe I just had bad luck twice…

Stopped by for lunch. Nice outdoors. Not sure they know what a croque Monsieur. It was ham — way too sweet — with melted cheese in the layers of ham. Bread was way too big. Maybe ladies like this place.

Everything was amazing. From the food, which was simply over the top, to the service. If I had any complaint at all it would be, if they decreased the portion size of their dinner courses by a quarter to a half, you would still have an incredibly filling meal(with room for dessert) at a slightly less expensive price point. Might bring in more business for them. But we will DEFINITELY be back.

I love good French bistro food and this is exactly what you get at J.J.‘s Liberty Bistro. I will admit that I always seem to have their quiche and salad when I go here for lunch. I love quiche, and the quiche here is just like what I have had in France. Their desserts are very good and if you can resist the desserts you can still take home Claude’s Chocolates; and that is something I can never resist. If you love chocolate you should seriously consider trying the Claude’s Chocolates that are sold here. Between the food here, and the chocolates, you can feel like you have had a mini trip to Belgium. They also sell French wine and other gift items from France.

Best service and food I’ve had in a long time. We were in a hurry to get to an event so they made sure to get us drinks and food very quickly, without making us feel rushed. The tenderloin with fois gras butter was to die for, as well as the flourless chocolate cake and lemon coconut cake. Can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant is awesome. Each time here, our food has been delicious. From escargot to salmon, each dish was tasty. JJ asked what type of wine we like and offered up great suggestions. My only complaint is that my wife bought an entire case of wine that JJ suggested. It cost more than a car payment, but I hope our guests enjoy it!

We’ve dined at this restaurant twice now and both times we left with a feeling of disappointment. It’s a small establishment with a bakery and wine shop as you walk in the door. The staff is not very friendly and the servers are very inexperienced which surprised us with the type of customers this location serves. There is a very tired looking man who helps serve the food occasionally and looks like he hasn’t smiled in many years, we took him to be the owner or perhaps the manager. The special on our second visit was steak salad made with hanger steak. To our amazement, when we complained the steak was very tough, the restaurant’s staff brought us steak knives. It was inedible and chewy. The rather odd habit of bringing a giant chalkboard around to your table with a list of desserts ends every meal. I will say both times the cakes and pies are very good. The other unusual thing is the large stained glass wall treatment with a figure of Jesus overlooking the small dining room and the bible verses at the bottom of each menu page. Adding to my reserve regarding JJ’s is when our companion made an error in tallying her tip and only left a few singles instead of a five and two singles, the server actually approached her to tell her she hadn’t left enough. Really? Overwhelmingly, seventy five percent of the problem lies in the very rude behavior of the staff. Very disappointed.

We live out of state and when we visit a favorite aunt in PVB we always reserve one night for dinner at JJ’s. it is reliably good every time. Our recent dinner was, however, simply outstanding. The pâté was so good we returned the next day and purchased a sizable slab which we savored at leisure. Fabulous lobster bisque. And Aunt is still raving about the strawberry-grand marnier cake. Service was efficient, servers smiling. Reviewer is still smiling, remembering.

It was hard not to give JJs just one star but it wasn’t like I saw cockroaches, so two stars it is. While having lunch at a restaurant next door(which was fantastic), someone suggested we try JJs for our next get together. One of the friends was polite about us not going there but it wasn’t until after our visit to JJs that we realized that she was too polite… we later learned that her experience was as awful as ours. No wonder she didn’t show! The waiter tried to accommodate our group of six but his skill as a server just wasn’t there.(There was NO one else in the restaurant!) The food arrived and no one raved about their food. My crepes(which I envisioned would be tender, yummy crepes folded with a delectable sauce… screech) were crêpe«chimichangas» fried with DARK, fatty, rubbery chicken slabs with a sauce that was only tolerable. The field greens were boxed greens tossed in an «okay» dressing topped with a couple of diced tomatoes — the end. Again, not yummy. All were excited for dessert and a huge menu board was delivered to our table.(OH, I’m ahead of myself. Before dessert, a lady came around hustling items from the shop that she wanted us to buy. Tacky!) Don’t be fooled — large selection does not mean quality. AGAIN, no one said a positive thing about their dessert. Mine was chewy and the filling tasted like chocolate-flavored sugar. I’ve had nicer desserts from our local grocer. The kicker? One of the girls we were with needed to go back in to the EMPTY restaurant because she forgot something and was treated quite poorly by the people there… «incredibly rude» was how she described her treatment. SO… An eh! lunch and an eh! dessert with eh! service and beyond eh! rudeness was $ 30. $ 30 for quality? NO problem. $ 30 for that? Problem! Au revoir JJs.

I am solely basing my review on the Macaron’s I purchased here, with that said they failed big time when it came to the macaron’s:-(. Not only were they small as in almost smaller then a quarter small, but they just didn’t have that freshness that a good and freshly baked macaron should have, plus the filling was the same for every flavor a seemingly Oreo vanilla(like they had scraped out the fillings of a bunch of Oreo cookies whipped it for a few seconds and then smeared it in between the tiny macaron shells). As if that wasn’t bad enough the coffee one tasted like they dropped the whole salt shaker into the batter and didn’t care, and to add insult to that they were charging $ 2.00 for each one, I got 4 thinking they couldn’t be that bad… lesson learned try one before you buy more!

This is my first bad review ever on Unilocal.I was excited to check out this restaurant. I took my in-laws into the foyer with all of the wine and pastries and when my father in law asked for help, he was answered by someone surly who said, «Yes? What do you want?» without ever looking up. He didn’t help us. Someone else asked if we needed help, but ended up being just as rude! I was incredulous. We left without giving those snobby people our patronage.

I’ve had lunch twice here, and have really enjoyed both of my meals. JJ’s has a good selection of lunch items, but I always pick a quiche and a salad. Each quiche I have had has been delicious and enjoyable. JJ’s reminds me of a real French café, where you have a good meal and a good conversation. In my opinion, it is not a fine dining destination, but rather a great casual place. One of the strongest areas on JJ’s menu is the wine selection. I have had a great success with his sparkling wine selections and also enjoyed Lillet for the first time. I also love that after dining, I can pick up whatever bottle I enjoyed at JJ’s from the front store part. JJ’s has a good selection of French products that can be purchased at the entrance/exit. If I wanted to fake a trip to France, I would head to JJ’s to pick up some«souvenirs».

Went to JJ’s Liberty Bistro and unfortunately, walked away unsatisfied and still hungry. It’s unfortunately because the atmosphere is nice and the décor cute and intimate. It would have been a great local restaurant to go on a date night. We ordered a duck dish and a pork belly dish. The portion of the duck dish was very small and tasted ok, but the pork belly dish was an over-priced chili with lots of beans mixed with bacon.

This tiny little bistro was crowded with wine bottles and refrigerator cases full of eclectic desserts, pâté’s, cheeses and other assorted French goodies. Ahhh, a visual treat as a precursor to my lunch here a JJ’s Bistro. The chairs are a woven thatch and I was a bit nervous planting my plus sized Foodie Batootie in one of these precarious looking seats. There was a bit of a groan once my weight was distributed, but no issues after. There is a beautiful French mural on the wall and the floors look like a saltio tile and all of the wine bottles and brick add to the ambiance of the décor. There is an outdoor seating area, but it was warm and I wanted to see the inside of this little hot spot. The service was a bit ‘sterile’ as I appreciate smiling and a little input on eclectic menus such as this one at JJ’s. But, the gal that seated me was all business and the young boy who waited on me was just as meticulous. Not unfriendly by any means, just ready to do his job I guess. Service was quick(although there was only 2 other tables being served at lunch), and the food was really good. Hot sandwich — Fiorenz $ 9.50 — Tomato slices, onions, gorgonzola, kalmata olives, and sun dried tomatoes with pesto. DELICIOUS!!! Soup — VICYSSOISE cup $ 3.25 — cold potato and leek soup. This was good, but perhaps just a little salty. The lunch prices are a little expensive, but I would expect this as the menu is French and eclectic. I will definitely be back to try their Bouillabaisse.
