Family owned and operated, place is very friendly! I’ve only been a couple of time but they recognized me, & came over several times to make sure our meal was as enjoyable as possible. Love the owners John and Jan, very sweet. Good food and atmosphere. :)

Great service, awesome and friendly staff! The Chicken Fried Steak is one of the best around, and their homemade fries are excellent! Definitely worth a visit when you are in the area! I live in Arlington, and come up here just for the Chicken Fried Streak!

I have heard that the breakfast here is pretty amazing but so far I’ve just had the chicken fried steak. It was good and we had a great time. All liquor drinks are poured as doubles. Drink prices are about average but the liquor selection is surprisingly large. We sat at the bar with a bunch of regulars. Everyone was friendly. Service is ok. I’ve heard they have karaōke but I’ve never made it over there in time. I’m still a little unclear about what the hours of the bar actually are. I’ve driven over there a couple of times where everything was shut down before 11:15pm. But thats the beauty of small town business’ I guess… You just never know when people are going to call it a day. Also, the photos on the JJ’s website do not represent the country charm of the restaurant. Even though the food isn’t inventive or amazing, I still enjoy visiting this restaurant. One day, I WILL make it to karaōke!

JJ’s is a cute little country café on the side of the highway in Ponder, TX. The establishment appears to be a former gas/service station that was restored and remodeled. The building still retains some of the original charm from the days of yester-year such as stamped metal tiles lining the exterior awning. The interior was cozy and cute with plenty of Texas country charm. The wait staff was warm and friendly. The menu has an impressive selection of things to choose from for breakfast, brunch, lunch and more. Several exciting special items were displayed on the chaulk board on the wall. We asked for the suggestions of the waitress as to what we should order, and ended up going with that. We had breakfast items. I ordered the Louisiana french toast, which was a croissant that was battered and cooked like french toast, topped with bananas and powdered sugar. It was phenomenal. Top that off with a never ending cup of coffee and you have one good start to your day in my opinion. The prices were fair and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely a little hidden gem in a sleepy small country town. I’ll be back next time I’m in that neck of the woods.

Ponder, Texas — Population 1,315 We have close friends that live just north of Ponder on what we call their«Petting Zoo.» We recently spent the night at their house and had the pleasure of this tasty small town diner located in whats left of a downtown Ponder. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner but our friends said Breakfast blows them away. I ordered the Louisiana French Toast which is some type of croissant coated in cinnamon sugar and smothered in sliced bananas. HOLYCOW. An original dish and so delicious. I cannot even describe it. My wife ordered the cheesy eggs which were also very good and had a unique taste compared to similar offerings at other establishments. There are so many reasons to try this place. Small town diner where everyone knows each other with oh so tasty food. Its worth the drive!
