I just can’t abide by charging for and/or limiting wine tastings. $ 5 for 6 tastings. They did offer taking the $ 5 off a purchase but two of us did a tasting and they only gave $ 5 off our purchase. Greedy. Cheap. However you want to label it. The wines were not very good either. So, if you don’t like them, you should not have to pay for the tiny sips of them you did get. A lot of very bitter finishes, which means they have bad tannins from not removing the stems and seeds. The experience literally left us with a bad taste in our mouths.

I wish all wineries with tastings were this laid-back… very glad we made the time to drop in when we were in the area for a couple days. Granted, none of their wine was the best wine I’d ever had, but it was all at least very good. And I do mean all of it: their tasting fee was 5 $ and supposedly included 6 wines of your choice from a substantial list, but they completely ignored that and let us taste everything. I actually had to skip a couple on grounds of I had to drive to our B&B right afterwards. Several of the wines were very reasonably-priced for the quality, and the already-great tasting fee is also waived if you buy a bottle(which I chose to think of as paying the tasting fee and then getting 5 dollars off a bottle ;)). We grabbed a bottle of their mead. Oh yeah, they have great mead, too(one very sweet and one semisweet, both quite good.)

I have seen some small boutique wine brands set up on Long Island, Texas, Florida, and Cali. This was the weirdest one I have encountered yet — in a good way. In metal building strip center on the outside of downtown. Cute tasting/retail area and small no more than 3 couples maybe? It smelled pretty funky as they crush and ferment the wine on site! Huge plastic vats everywhere. You can buy on site or they can ship to TX, OK, CA. I love the Rosso. Ask for half case– case discount and get the word out. Did you know that are now over 100+ wineries in CO? Go visit Vino Salida and enjoy. Psst, served at Asian Palate in nearby Buena Vista.

Steve at Vino Salida gave us a fantastic tour and tasting. He approaches wine making like the art it is, and his passions are evident in his wines. Highly recommend!
