Lived in the area for years and Pauline’s was what it was: a hit-and-miss steak place with no ambience or atmosphere. On a recent visit, I was told that new owners have taken over so decided to give it a try. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Service was plentiful and friendly on a Saturday night. Not much traffic in the place. I ordered the grilled chicken breast, salad bar and potato; companion got the same, subbing a t-bone for the chicken. Salad bar is non-descript; little more than a house salad with a couple options. Though I ordered the plain chicken breast I’m assuming I got the blackened version; if not, the blackened would be inedible due to overseasoning. Friend’s steak appeared a bit underdone and needed lots of fat trimmed. It was his treat, but I got a peek at the bill and thought it certainly on the high end for the experience. On another note, the restaurant appeared really uncared for. Seat cushions are filthy and stained. Ceiling fans caked with dirt. Same old Pauline’s. Not recommended.

This place isnt on the beaten path and so its hard to know it exist. After paying them a visit, i wished I found it sooner. The steak was cooked perfectly, and seemed to have a lot less fat than that other«dinner club» steak house in town. The brown gravy was amazing. I usually don’t care for gravies because too many people make it out of a packet. Im guessing not here. Cost is a bit pricey, but to me cost is only an issue in the absence of value. Expect $ 25-$ 30 if you have a steak and soda.
