Tuscany Wines

First time at Tuscany Wines. As you can tell by the name, they specialize in Italian wines. This place is tucked away on a side industrial street, so if you don’t know about it, you won’t find it.
WINE CLASS
I found it through Unilocal for a Beginner’s Wine Class. Although I am no expert on wine, I am not a beginner either. Nonetheless, I decided to take the class because I have very little knowledge of Italian wines. Not to mention, that any class you take, regardless of how much you know about the subject, you always learn something.
Turns out their was 2 Italian wines in the class. But the more important part was the food pairing and why you pair with the foods. Meghan and Daisy clearly are knowledgeable and ran a very informative class. It appears that Saturday classes are a regular thing there. So need to keep an eye out for those classes and topics.
I was too excited to sit down and start the wine class, and I forgot to snap pics. It is a wine store, with a wine bar and has a few tables (I assume just for tastings and classes). For this class there were only 5 of us, so it was very nice for personal attention. Daisy said they limit the class sizes to 12 – 14.
THE PLACE
Tuscany Wines is pretty close to my work. So I foresee me setting up my first UYE for a wine tasting or wine class there. I’ll be stopping back to get more details on how classes and tastings work and will be sure to post results.

Drop what you are doing, and go get some REAL wine selection. ITALIAN that is! :)
Prices are great for the daily vino to the special occasion, and the owners are VERY helpful in finding the right pairing to what you are preparing.

I decided to follow a recipe for «Ancient Steak» which «required» a Valpolicella wine marinade, but not just any Valpolicella. The recipe specifically stated and with great emphasis that the marinade be constructed from a Valpolicella Superiore. Unfortunately I soon discovered that this particular category, though of many styles, be of that which includes «ripasso,» in which the fermenting juice is soaked in the leftover skins from pressed Amarone grapes. So what to do?
I tried several wine outlets and liquor stores but to no avail until I stumbled into Tuscany Wines. To my delight, they stock a good number of Vapolicella’s from the ordinary, to the Classico and to the one I was seeking, being the Vapolicella Superiore. So, when it comes to locating an Italian wine, Tuscany Wines is about as good as I can find in the area.

One of the best wine shops in South Florida. Daisy (the owner) is really friendly and knowledgeable about Italian wines. My favorite is the Valpolicella Ripasso. One of the best wines I have ever had.
