Pompano Park Harness Track

I finally got a chance to go to Pompano Park with may wife for the harness racing and we had a great time. It was sad to see the old closed grandstand, but current facilities are very pleasant, we sat at a picnic table near the track, food truck was good, betting window could not be more convenient, weather was perfect for sitting outside, racing was very good (I used to go to frequent the races at Yonkers and Roosevelt Raceway so I know a bit about the sport), and to top it off my wife and I had the winner in 6 of 9 races.

The track might be old, but why would you go watch harness races in crappy weather (see other reviews)? I stopped here on New Year’s Eve 2012 with my fiancée to play some slots, have a few drinks and bet on a few horses. We had a GREAT time!
Ok, I’ll admit, I might be a leeeettle bit biased because when we arrived, I put $ 2 on the first race and won $ 65 — so that really put us both in a good mood! :) We ended up walking out with a little bit more than what we walked in with, and enjoyed some drinks at the bar and played a few slots before we left. The drinks here are the cheapest I have ever seen at a casino in my life, and I can seriously appreciate having an inexpensive bar tab at the end of the night.
If you’re in the area, it’s a fun place to go kill an hour (or two). Call ahead to confirm racing schedules; the night we went was the only time the horses were running during our 5-​day visit. And feel free to get dressed up to go if you’re there at night!

Perhaps the harness track is old, and the weather the day we went also was rainy, sloppy. But it brought back memories of harness racing from days many years ago. Plus the casino is fun, slots and poker, so definitely fun to spend several hours at.
We had a good time here. 3 stars for the casino part, the racing well, umm… go if you want to see the casino.

2 stars, but only for the weather. Poor sight lines of the back stretch, just an uninspiring facility, with crappy purses for horsemen.
