This place is pretty disgusting. The food is just ok. I mean really if you’re craving mexican food go somewhere else. You have to walk up and order from a window and then sit outside. There are always a lot of flies hovering around you. They have this tiny room where you can get salsa and lemon and it does not look fresh. It’s like everything is just sitting there. I definitely would not recommend this spot.

This is now our preferred taco place! We have been eating here for a while and we like it. Those Charro beans are very tasty and you can get a free small cup most of the time. And just .75 for a refill. Still only $ 1.25 a taco and they are good size. I have tried all the standard meats and love the pollo and pastor. Sometimes the asada is kinda dry. Try the wet burrito its my favorite! This place is under rated, Looks a little iffy but be bold! it’s a mom and pop place one of the kind where they treat you good like family, the food is good and at the right price. Stop by and give them a try. Dang, now I want tacos.

I must say I was really disappointed with the food. The meat there is extremely dry even the meat in the Frijoles Charros. The regular beans were not fully cooked and the tortillas were cold. They are popular for their Frijoles Charros and they were good but that’s all I can say. Unfortunately I can not recommend this place at all. Sorry

A-ok taco joint in Pomona. Sure, there’s probably more busy and famous taco places you can go to within a 1 mile radius, but you can’t hate on a taco place that gives free drinks to WesternU students. Just show them your ID. $ 1.25 per taco. I tried both the asada and al pastor, the latter being my favorite. Not as charred as I would want the meat to be, but the flavor was there. Self serve salsa bar and drink station = extra brownie points as always. They do serve horchata which is another +1. Free refills for days. Eat your tacos outside and enjoy the beauty/lack thereof in Pomona. Located along the busy street of Mission blvd, within walking distance from WesternU. They have a mini mart next to the kitchen with random goodies for sell just in case you wanted to culturize yourself.

I go here all the time because it is the best deal in the area. Even better deals for Western U students. Chicken, asada, and fish tacos are all on point. Burritos are tasty and filling and cheap. Tortas and supreme nacho plates are enormous and delicious. Small free condiment bar is nice bonus. The two who work there day in and day out are super nice and always make great food.

It’s a very divey looking joint, but it gets the job done. The cashier was very nice and accommodating, which is a huge plus. I got a wet burrito without meat, and it was really good. They don’t skimp on the filling or sauce, which made it great. Maybe not a place I’d go on the regular, but I will go again. Maybe I’ll try the funnel cake.

This place is the ugliest and most disgusting restaurant you can ever eat at. There are flies flying around and they have a dumpster right next to the restaurant. I decided to give it a try but I regret it. The owners are extremely rude and cheap. I ordered tacos and the meat was super greasy and the tortilla was hard and cold. When I was about to take a bite I found a hair in the meat. I told the old man working there i guess he’s the owner and he acted like if there was nothing there. Even though i showed him the hair he didnt offer me a refund or said sorry he just said there was nothing he could do. It was a terrible experience. They have no conscience nor respect for their customers. Dont waste your money on this trash.

This place is disgusting. The food is no where near authentic. The food is bland. You pour your own beans from a giant pot(germ city). I order a tostada and the guy grab the meat with tongs, instead of letting it drain out for 2 seconds, he just threw it on with about a laddle of grease. My food became a soggy mess. My girl friend was grossed out too. If you. are going to come here go alone.

Ever since Unilocal and a few life changes I am so into trying new things. I came here for lunch. I was waiting for a doctors appointment is right next to the office. I paid a decent price for my torta. It was fucking huge and delicious and I hope you try it cause it was the bees knees.

The tacos are good. I usually stick to lengua or chorrizo. The best item is actually the beans cooked in a big pot with various meat including pork belly and what i would assume is lard bc it sits in your stomach like a brick. It’s quite delicious and something ive never had anywhere else. The other great item is actually the breakfast burrito, its a little greasy but quite tasty. They also have fried pig skin and lard which they started selling recently but havent tried(looks awesome though). All in all its a decent place, not something i’ll go out of the way for(i go to school across from the place) but a good lunch spot

Man… you can’t really beat the price($ 3 for 3 tacos and a drink if you are a student) and they have a little buffet cart with some good stuff to pick from(pickled carrots, peppers, salsa, guacuamole based salsa, etc). But they seriously make some of the greasiest tacos i’ve ever had… they’re also really salty. The grease makes me reluctant to eat there sometimes. If you want cheap… then this is a winner I guess.

This place is your typical hole-in the wall, family-owned Mexican restaurant. The owners are very nice! I remember one time I came and could only afford 2 tacos, they gave me the third for free and I got a free drink! They understand that as a poor graduate students, we hardly have time and money for food. I went recently and I guess they haven’t been getting enough business so they stopped giving the free drink. There’s a little salsa bar inside and tables outside for eating. The green salsa was yummy and just the right flavor. I’ve tried the fish tacos, carne asada and al pastor, all were very good. I would definitely go back since its affordable and the owners are very nice!

we always call this the yellow house. we love coming here because it’s so close to campus and if you tell them you’re a student you get 3 tacos + a drink for just $ 3 flat. the only thing I don’t like about this place is that there are flies around the vegetables but it doesn’t matter to me because I don’t eat it haha there’s a fee for credit cards so my friend didn’t want to use her credit card and the lady/owner? just gave the tacos to her for free and said she can pay next time.

SALTY. The prices are fair, same as most mexican restaurants, and people always tell me to go and try their 99 cent tacos, but they are soooo salty! I felt like I needed to drink a gallon of water after consuming a taco to even out the concentration in my body. There was something weird about my torta too, but I cant quite put my finger on it. Would give one more try, but with so many other mexican restaurants in close vicinity, I would try others first.

Since my aunt and I were hungry for some tacos and I had my trusty gps, we found this place. That day I got Adovada, Al Pastor, Lengua with a drink of Jamaica. While my aunt got lengua, carnitas, and chorizo for the rest of my family with a drink of Horchata. The lady who took out order was nice and patient after it took my aunt a while to figure out what to get. They were also quick with our order. Some of the tacos were slighty greasy. I liked Adovada the best though all of them were pretty yummy. The Horchata was really sweet compared to other places I’ve tasted, it tasted like a churro liquefied. The Jamaica was ok to me. The outdoor seating was clean and covered even though it was raining lightly when we were there, there were some guys eating outside. You can go inside to get drinks, snacks, and sides, and there’s only one or two tables but they were taken. They didn’t seem to have their salsa bar fully stocked the day I went. They only had two salsas and cut radishes out, plus no cups to pour the salsa in. But when we asked, they gave us plenty of the red and green salsa in cups to go. By the way, they did raise the price for the agua frescas from $ 1 to $ 1.50; they wrote it on the ledge where you pay. They did add three more choices in their taco section(birria, and two other things) which is painted on the side that has the doorway which is hard to see. The price for tacos are still $ 1. There’s a $ 1.50 fee if you use an atm card to pay.

Will you get mugged going here? Maybe, maybe not. Will you find a good meal? Definitely. My buddies and I arrived here for a quick lunch. I’ve read the mixed reviews about this place, so I’m glad I had the opportunity to check it out myself. It isn’t located in the safest place, but being directly across the street from campus makes it convenient for Western University of Health Sciences students. The outdoor seating is clean and covered. Although you can go inside to get drinks, snacks, and sides, there doesn’t seem to be any seating. Everything is clearly priced on the menu, the $ 1 tacos are popular, but I decided to go with a burrito with al pastor which came with a drink for $ 5. My total was $ 6.50 then gave me $ 1 cash back so I’m guessing they charge 50 cents for using my ATM. I think you can get the burrito by itself for $ 3.50, but my friends gave me the impression that the drink was free. I went inside to get my drink, they have sodas, but I chose to get some tasty horchata. It’s like drinking a liquid churro. It was super sweet and delicious. I grabbed some cucumbers and radishes from the condiments bar. They had salsa, but I didn’t see any cups I could put it in, which I found awkward. The food came out really quick, super hot, and in a very generous portion. I bit into it and it was juicy(if not a little oily) and I may have burned myself. There was rice, beans, meat, salsa, and I think cabbage. It’s pretty flavorful, but it was leaning towards tasting strongly of herbs more than salty, fatty, or sweet. I poured some of the salsa that came with it and it had heat and didn’t really taste like tomatoes. All of this came with grilled onions which I thought was awesome. After doing some work on the burrito, it became soggy and fell apart. My buddy who got the vegetable burrito did not have this problem, nor did the one who ordered one with carne asada. I imagine the sogginess is the result of the oily pork. To complete the experience, we ran across the street illegally to get back to campus. In the end, I was full. It was a good experience because Jicamex is clean, inexpensive, filling, and friendly. You can’t really go wrong! Besides the whole getting stabbed thing. Note: This place MAY have given me a stomach bug. I traced everything back for 4 days and I am guessing the pork or the cucumbers and turnips got me sick. It might be unfair to point the finger, but it was narrowed down to Jicamex after differentiating what was eaten between my friends, family, and me.

My friend is probably one of the most pickiest eaters I know. So it came as a total surprise when she took one bite out of her gigantic burrito and said, «It was THEBEST burrito she’s ever had in her life.» I almost choked on my soft taco because I was totally shocked. I think this place caters to the people of Western Medical because they offer discounts to students. The lady working the register is as nice and friendly as can be. All their items are painted on the wall where you order. They have menudo on the weekends. YUMMY! $ 1.00 tacos and $ 3.50 burritos. You just can’t beat those prices! You order at the front and help yourself to the condiments bar inside. Cute little place. Seating inside and out. We took our food to-go. You’ll see from my pictures how ridiculously gynormous their burritos are. The al pastor was cooked very well-done. Probably the best al pastor I’ve had so far. It was cooked with some flavorful juices so it wasn’t dry like how most other places serve it and it also had diced onions. Their rice was REALLY good. It was like a super dark orange color but it complemented the al pastor perfectly. They don’t skimp on the meat either. Very VERY good. My friend liked their house red sauce but I thought the salsa verde was the best. It wasn’t spicy. Just flavorful. Ugh, my mouth is watering from writing this review. Can’t wait to go back!

This was the perfect meal to complete my night after being at a metal show at the Fox Theatre just down the street. This taco stand is open til 12:00 am. I had the chicken tacos and an order of nachos. Tacos are $ 1 each and the nachos was $ 1.75. Even though the price was cheap, the quality was far superior. The chicken was piping hot and they give you a lot of meat. The self-serve condiments bar was clean and fully stocked. The only seating area is outside. Staff is friendly and overall a very good taco experience.

I’ve been back for 4 or 5 visits now and I’m completely in love with this taco stand. Coming here each time is a like a little adventure. They’ve got 14 different meats to try and they are all fresh! it’s not like other taco stores where it was cooked 2 hours ago and sitting in a bin. They’ve got serious turnover here. In your many visits, you’ll find that some that are better than others and one might be sold out for that time, but heck who cares? there’s lots of other great stuff to eat and if it isn’t to you liking, you’ve only spent a dollar! A dollar, tax included per taco! a couple tips. order the costillas and you’ll get a delicious golden pork sparerib in a taco. and the buche is pretty darn good too. and sometimes. they give you soft grilled onions and smokey grilled jalapenos on the side too!
