Having been in this place 25x I must commend the bar staff. They are excellent by far. They are superb and very helpful. This is the first time I’ve been here this year, and sure enough Tom, who used to work at the Crabs Claw in Lavallette was tending bar. He works alone during the week. Hope mgmnt has more help in the summertime. I really do not come here for the food, though I have eaten here many times. Bar help is rated 5stars Food is rated 3stars.

Another great night out with a group of about 10 friends at the Spot & had no problem grabbing seats at the bar. I opted for the $ 5 Happy Hour bar pie on this trip(with mushrooms, an extra $ 1) which turned out to be quite tasty. The mushrooms were real, fresh mushrooms, not the canned variety. Two of the gals ordered salads; both said they were very good, & the extremely picky eater of the bunch ordered the BBQ boneless wings & actually loved them! Big score for the Spot! I was a bit disappointed the outside area was closed as it was a warm evening. I’m not really a fan of being squeezed into an outdoor area with the bunch of other people in the summer so I head to the shore places before the official start. Unfortunately staffing doesn’t allow accommodation outside for the locals before then. As always, Tom & May, the bartenders, were great. They have no problem serving a ‘taste’ of a craft beer if you ask & they had some delicious choices last night. I ended up getting a flight of 4, 5 oz beers to try. My favorite of the bunch, Southern Tier 2XStout! I can never understand why this place isn’t packed for happy hours but it works for me. By the time we left at about 9:30 it had filled up nicely. When the place fills up you can have many families at the tables where there are small TV’s situated at each booth. It gets VERY loud. This is definitely one of my favorite ‘pubs’ but I will be sad come Memorial Day.

While I really wanted to like The Spot, I just found it to be mediocre. The concept of individual TV’s at the booths is great for parents or someone wanting to watch the game, but we found the whole channel surfing system confusing. The service was fine, the bartender was very helpful, but overall the restaurant struck us as a Denny’s or Friendly’s with a bar. The menu offers a nice variety of choices, but other than the chicken fingers w/French fries, much of the food was just passible. The utensils are the cheap, thin metal diner-type, paper napkins, and booths. The plus is the prices are reasonable and the fries are really good. Friendly staff. The downsides are the entrance from 35 is hard to find, nearly all wines must be purchased by the bottle w/out a taste first(though excellent deal if you like what they have), and the food, though in concept on the menu sounds good, is really bad. Frankly my husband’s BBQ chicken & ribs had a terrible odor. Something in the sauce. Turned my daughter & my stomach. I want to give credit to a very helpful bartender & a gentleman I believe was the manager. Certainly well-intentioned in helping me select a wine. However, I just could get past how poor the food was. If you want a quiet bar, large TV’s, beer & some fries, The Spot is just fine. We just didn’t find it suited our family’s tastes(which is usually along the lines of Houlihan’s & Carrabbas, so nothing too picky).

The food is pretty good. What annoyed me is that when I was ordering mixed drinks, the sodas were flat coming out of the machine. I told the bar tender and he said there’s nothing he can do about it. So the bartenders served flat sodas all night and seemed like it was perfectly fine. Obviously it was silly of me to keep paying $ 7 per drink but the bartender disagreed. Called a cab and went elsewhere.

This is the best pizza in Point Pleasant Beach. Great staff and an ever changing selection of craft beers including local brews has made it my favorite shore bar even in the dead of winter.

I’d like to give this place a 4.5 if it was possible. I’ve been here maybe 15 times and I keep coming back. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. May and Tom are great. I come for the beer mostly. They have 15 or so rotating taps that they constantly change including seasonal stuff. This is a beer bar disguised as a family restaurant. Here’s why. If you sit in a booth there will be a tv in each booth that you can adjust channel, volume, etc. This keeps the kids occupied. For the beer drinker there’s the beer of course but you can specify a 5oz, 9oz, or 16oz glass priced accordingly. You can sample a few without having to worry about the ride home. The food is pretty good keeping in mind that it is mostly pub grub. Burgers are good as are wings. I love the white pizza with mushrooms. I’ve had better pizza elsewhere but the ambiance, beer, and service keep me coming back.

Greasy, horrible taste. I do not recommend to anyone that has taste buds. When your kids insist on The Spot, just say no, deal with the upset, and move on. That’s what I should have done.

Pizza was yummy but I found a hair in my salad. Normally I wouldn’t have even said anything but she asked… still charged me for the salad. No Bueno. Plus they play really depressing music and the darn tv at every table distracted the kids.

I come here for a cold beer and a good appetizer. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Wings to pot stickers. All good. Their pizza is awesome if f you like thin crust as much as I do.

I would avoid, or at least double check ALL pricing before you order. They promote many specials but I’ve had two bait and switch situations where the price you pay is different than advertised. Buyer beware. Too many good and reputable options in the area to get fooled at this joint.

3 stars for the quality craft beers available. Food is not appetizing here so read the other reviews for that. This is the best place to go strictly to taste different quality craft brews. The flight special is fantastic. My only suggestions are that there are always a few too many IPAs, and the beers need to be rotated a little more often. Another positive is that you can usually land a seat at the bar unlike at the neighboring ARK. The ARK’s beer selection has gone way downhill for some inexplicable reason. Summation: go eat somewhere else then land at the spot to try new beers.

Great modern interior design. I work in the area. My staff and I went on a thursday afternoon for some drinks and apps. 3 rounds of drinks for 5 people for less than 50 bucks! great prices. food was good. Place is very clean and lighting is great. We had a friendly female bartender who’s name escapes me. I’ve been there once, and would definitely go again!

Terrible customer service. Food was about a 3 outta 10. Waitress never came back to check on us and just dropped a check and took off. Then she grabbed the credit card tray when she saw we were ready to pay. She didn’t even ask if we were ready or to tell us she’s takin it. We asked about how the soft shell crab sandwich was and she said don’t get it, not good. She said it’s not gross just has no flavor. It’s pretty bad when the staff doesn’t like the food. What a shithole. No customers, 1 waitress and crap food. Don’t waste your time there

Local place clean and bright! My son loves it for the booths with TV’s. The parent love it because he is occupied and we can actually enjoy the meal. The food is good bar type greasy spoon type stuff. It’s all good but I wish there was a few healthier options. If there were, we would go more often. The Turkey Burger is one of the best around though! Dave Riback

First we waited to long to be seated the waitress was nice and friendly. Irish nachos were delicious but the main course which was penne ala vodka was not to quality standards. If we go back we will try something different. Not that we will back soon.

Just an OK place to grab a burger or a pizza, service is generally pleasant and prompt but leave this one for the tourist. Plenty of other places to eat in town that far excite the spot in terms of quality and price.

I’ve been here a few times since my previous review, and I’m sad to say that I think The Spot is slipping in terms of quality. The service is still decent and the beer selection is still amazing, but the food quality has been erratic at best, often times falling into the realm of «not that great». I recently went here with a group of 4 – 5 friends for a bit of a late dinner with a couple of cold ones. Between the 5 of us, the happiness with our food was really mixed. The potato soup was great, with chunks of bacon, and the eggplant sandwich a friend ordered tasted pretty good too, although it was super breaded and fried — quite greasy and didn’t sit well in his stomach, apparently. Another friend ordered the wings, which were incredibly dry and flavorless. Shocking, considering this is a sports bar, a place where wings are usually a safe bet. I may come back again once or twice more to see if anything’s changed, but my friends have already written this off as a no-go when they’re in town. Can’t say I blame them, really. Even on visits myself recently, the meals have been kind of «blah». Hey, at least the beer menu is still great, and helped to wash away the sorrows of our fairly disappointing meal. Personally, I think a few good cooks could easily turn this place into an amazing gastropub. Hopefully they think the same.
