Mother’s Day, with my Mom, we stopped by. Lisa’s Luscious is a professional chef. We tasted Pear Butter, Apple Butter, both with Grand Marnier, and much more, bought three of these and they are delicious. She is very informative and friendly, gave information on how to have gift baskets made, mail orders, cakes, etc. Very delicious.

We had the pleasure of meeting Lisa and visiting her shop when we recently visited Point Arena. We were very hungry after a long drive and hoping to stop here for lunch. Unfortunately, her little shop is not a restaurant… but she does sell yummy jam, marmalade, preserves, vinegar, chutney and soup(frozen). While we didn’t get lunch, she was kind enough to provide us with a list she had put together with Judy(co-owner of B Bryan Preserve) to help folks like us find our way around Point Arena. Very very helpful. We were so hungry our first visit, we dashed out without buying a thing that first day but promised to return. She was totally cool with that! After lunch, we headed to the little cottage we were staying at in the B Bryan Reserve for naps and lots of R&R…so didn’t make it back to the shop until the following day. When we returned, Lisa remembered us and was so nice to explain how she prepares the items with quality ingredients. She also explained how we could use the jam as marinades and in salad dressing. We were happy to hear she does not overpower the fruit with lots of sugar. Choosing what to buy was hard as she offers so many choices. We took our time looking and finally selected red raspberry, apricot, and blackberry jam and a Meyers lemon marmalade. I can’t wait to try them. The Meyers lemon marmalade is going to my sis as a little thank you gift… I hope she gives me a taste! We opened the apricot jam yesterday and had it on pancakes. Yummy! Apparently, you can also order online or she will ship as gifts and I can’t wait to check that out… once our jars are empty. Lisa is a very special person… that’s for sure.

We were staying in Point Arena at B Bryan Preserve and knew that we had to stop here before going home. When you meet Lisa, I swear it is like you met family. She is so welcoming and when she talks you can just feel so strongly that she loves what she does. Above all, she is incredible at what she does. The prices are not that of Smuckers jelly but understand this and please understand… she uses FRESH local ingredients with no fillers. If anyone cooks at home and likes to use quality ingredients you will understand it is all priced right. If you want corn syrup and artificial ingredients/color, please don’t go here. Seriously, the taste makes it all worth every last copper penny. We decided to get a pint of the Thai Butternut Squash soup and the Split Pea and Ham Hock soup. It was frozen and she added some ice in a bag to keep it cold for our drive home. We had that for dinner that night and I swear it was so rich and tasty with a hint of a kick that I wanted to scream like a child eating his first ice cream cake. My toenails were curling with all the flavor that was going on. Over the weekend we had some of the Huckleberry Preserve and the Plum Preserve. It literally was like eating the fruit… not over sugary and just like I went in my yard and picked the fruit. We were talking to her telling her it is my spouse’s birthday and she was so sweet she asked him what is his favorite fruit… and taadaa… he got an early birthday present with this luscious Rainier Cherry Preserve(fabulous on bagel with cream cheese and dollop of the preserve). Finally, I love lemon curd and guess what? Yep, she makes it and the best… fresh lemon taste with the right amount of tartness and sweetness. I could have eaten it by itself but made some blueberry muffins and added that to them… OMG…so good made me cry. I would say if you are driving by stop there… but I am going to say, get your keys, bring your wallet, get a cooler with ice and just go there now. She has so many different preserves and the soups… oh those luscious soups! Next time, we are buying several quarts and having them for dinner all week switching them up. Highly recommend Lisa’s and she is the cat’s meow as a person… like I said, she is just like being with family. The good family that you like to visit :)

What !!! No reviews on Lisa’s jams, jellies, and preserves? Am I just reading wrong? Am I in the Twilight Zone? Good Lord! I thought that that’s why people stopped there — what soups? OK, guess we gotta try them next time… actually, we did call ahead this visit, something told me to because it was mid-week, and it was a good thing we did because she was upstairs baking a wedding cake, Queen of All Things Gastronomical, but we told her we were coming in from Gualala and she opened the doors just for us, because we needed a resupply on our half –yearly allocation of Jams and Jellies. You have to understand — these are perfectly concentrated power-bombs of fruity goodness, with no other nothin’ but a touch of sugar/citrus/pectin as is required to either flavor balance or thicken — that’s it — otherwise it is just fruit, and in that it is pure, preserved summer sunshine in a jar, so good that a spoon is the only requirement. I just want to faint on the floor with paroxisms of happiness, or sugar coma, or both, or is it just pure religion? I don’t know, but Lisa, I think love you, but I am married to my husband, so I am all confused. I guess the way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach as well! The biggest surprise of all this visit is everybody’s sleeper fruit, Concord grape, which we never even bothered to taste before, thinking it would just be ho-hum…but my lord, words do not even begin!!! How do you do that, with Concord grape jam? You are the Warrior Princess of Preserves! We’ll see you again in 6 months, as promised. With yet more converts.

On October 10, 2013, my partner and I got married at the B Bryan Preserve and Lisa made our wedding cake. It was Awesome. She made exactly what we wanted and the cake was decorated with flowers, ferns and bachelor buttons. Not only was it great looking, but it was one of the best, if now the best cake that I have ever eaten. White and Chocolate cakes, with each layer split filled with Italian Cream frosting with Vodka Bing Cherries, between one layer, Pecans between another and Lisa Luscious Jams between the third. It was awesome. Not only did Lisa make a great cake, but she delivered it to The Pier Chowder House and did a cake«Wedding set up». Who could have ask for more. I highly recommend Lisa’s Luscious Kitchen for her cakes and jams and Jellies.

I used Lisa’s Blood Orange Marmalade mixed with some brown sugar and rock salt made a thick sticky paste and spread it over a pork shoulder roast. I placed some Rosemary sprigs on top of the roast and placed in a Weber Grill with about 20 charcoal on one side of the Weber, top on, first hour cover vent holes open, 2 hours half closed. Vent holes on underside full open. Three Hours later, succulent, tender, juicy with a nice brown glaze and smokey rosemary taste. Impossible to mess this up! Don’t spoil with any gravy. Thanks Again Lisa…

My daughter got married at The Sea Ranch this week. The family raved about the Chocolate Fudge wedding cake with rasberry truffle filling and chocolate cognac frosting that Lisa delivered with short notice and artfully arranged with fresh ferns and pinecones and garden flowers, which was perfect for this outdoor couple. It made a beautiful occasion even more perfect.

Stopped here during a trip to the coast. I haven’t had the chance to try Lisa’s preserves yet, but I did purchase a couple of her soups and they were amazing! She uses all organic(whenever possible) ingredients and purchases primarily from the local farmer’s market. She adds lots of veggies to her soups. Not only were they delicious, but really healthy too. Her shop is right on the edge of the business district, so keep your eyes open for it. Prices are a bit high, but I know it’s because she’s producing small batches and buying high-quality ingredients. Lisa is also very friendly and will give you lots of great tips about things to do and places to go in the area.

On a recent trip to Gualala, we drove a few miles north to the town of Point Arena almost specifically to visit Frannie’s Cup and Saucer, a bakery serving up delicious goods. On our way back to Gualala we saw the sign for Lisa’s Luscious Kitchen. The place is located on the edge of what constitutes the Point Arena business district(a stretch of approximately 2 blocks), so it’s easy to miss it as you drive in, or drive out of town. Well, we’re glad we noticed Lisa’s place. LLK sells jams and preserves, but what attracted me was the frozen soups. The place we were staying in Gualala was equipped with a kitchen and so frozen soup seemed like a great idea for an easy dinner, so we parked and went in to the establishment. Lisa is friendly and chatty and offers great tips about the businesses in Point Arena; she even gave us a sheet that lists all businesses, a short description of their products or foods, and contact information. She also described the four soups she had on the menu that day and they all sounded delicious. I settled on Green Lentil soup, and my wife chose a Curried Croockneck Squash soup. Both soups were absolutely delicious! Yes, they are priced just a tiny bit higher than you would pay for soup at say Whole Foods, but the soups were very good indeed. A tip in heating them up: the soups come frozen in either pint or quart sized plastic recepticles. To free the soup from its container, simply run the whole container under warm water for a few seconds, then swivel the container in your hand back and forth as if you were turning a door knob. If you feel and hear the soup turning inside the container it’s ready to come out. Just take off the lid and invert the container right into the pot — easy peasy). Hmmmm, good…

We found Lisa’s last year on a B and B trip up the coast. We bought a jar of her huckleberry jam. During that trip we also bought a jar of huckleberry jam of another brand. Lisa’s jar was almost all huckleberries and tasted wonderful. The other jar was full of thickened juice and some huckleberries. Lisa’s was hands down the best. We just drove by again this week and bought 5 jars more. She is very personable and very willing to visit with you when you stop by. She has loads of other flavors of jam and other products also.
