Ordered a cake for a baby shower. I requested it to be yellow, white with gray décor. Delivery time originally was set for 11am. I then changed said time for 11:30am. I was told that would be no problem. Cake was delivered at 11:50. Cake colors were no where near to what was ordered. I take that back, this was a two tier. She was able to get the yellow correct on the one tier. The bottom tier that was suppose to be white, was beige with brown décor. Even the elephant cake topper was suppose to be grey. It was clearly a dark brown. When I pointed out that the colors were suppose to be white and gray, immediately she corrected me and said it was gray but it had darkened. She even used brown ribbon instead of gray. For a moment this unprofessional woman actually had me wondering if I was possibly color blind. I just kept starring at it. Now I’m not one of those people to say the customer is always right. We are not. Everyone is human and makes mistakes. However, I was not the only one seeing beige and brown. All she had to do was say I’m sorry… It did not turn out as expected. No, she could not do that. Instead she had to point out that is was grey and made me feel blind and stupid for being irritated. Now at this point guest are coming in because remember, this baker was late. I could not sit there and argue with her. Clearly this worked in her favor. At the end of the party I was asked by the restaurant owner and chef if the baker had left a cake box to put in the remainder of cake that had been left over. I texted her to ask her if she had. She replied with a sorry she forgot to grab it but if I would like she could run a box to me. What she should have replied was … I will be right over with a box. So we went and used the restaurants food boxes. All ten or eleven of them. Nice. I receive another text letting me know I could come by the bakery to remit payment. I told her I would be there and gave a specific time. I delivered said check but of course she was not there. One of her employees waited on me. Now some will say it’s what the cake taste like that matters. Yes, the cake got great reviews for how it tasted. However, lots of people that do not own a bakery can bake a wonderful cake. When one holds an event, a cake in many instances is the focal point of the function. I couldn’t wait to have it cut up and served. Again, we are all human but when I screw up at my place of employment… I own it. I don’t fabricate a line or make excuses as this lady did. Had she just owned it… I would not be making out this review.
