Sadly, Wok Kee is no more. [Insert sounds of wailing, crying and gnashing of teeth] It has been replaced by Beijing Bistro. So far, not for the better. But that story is told in a different place… Let’s hope the new managers work out the problems quickly…

This restaurant caters to our business every week and have to say I have never been disappointed. They have really good food, and every week they are never late when they say they will be here. BBQ Lunch Combo is very good!

We have ordered delivery twice from them at decently later hours. The food has always been delicious, hot, fresh and quickly delivered. The great food is made better by the delivery man who is always so nice! Good for delivery Chinese!

I was craving some cantonese café food and I ended up here. The food were disgusting. I didn’t even want to pack my leftovers. We ordered salt and pepper fried calamari, house fried noodles, and I don’t even remember what else bc I didn’t want to remember. The taste wasn’t right. Seemed like they didn’t heat it up enough. The fried calamari didn’t have enough flavor and the texture seemed strange maybe bc they didn’t fry it long enough. Made me feel like I can taste its unfreshness. The fried noodles were flavorless as well. Seemed like their ingredients were poor quality. :( I ordered a lemon ice tea. That was decent though. But I wouldn’t come back here just to drink their lemon iced tea.

My dad saw an ad in the newspaper for this restaurant. It stated it was close to the Paragon Livermore Outlet and that’s why we decided to come here. This restaurant has only been opened for a little over a year. We arrived here before happy hour which is at 2pm, but they still gave us the happy hour menu. Thai tea, milk tea, and lemon tea were $ 1.50(originally $ 2.50). I ordered a Thai tea. It is definitely different than the Thai tea I’ve had here in Sacramento. It has a bitter taste and not as sweet as I’m used too, but it wasn’t bad. We also ordered: Green beans w/beef: I don’t like my green beans crunchy, but this dish was crunchy, but soft enough for my liking. I really liked this dish. Coffee Ribs: It comes with 4 pieces. This appetizer is different, first time I’ve ever seen it on a menu. It’s too messy to eat. The coffee taste isn’t strong. There’s a bitter and sweet taste. Pepper & Salty Pork: A lot of pieces. Tastes like every other restaurant. I liked it. Sesame Chicken: This was really good when it came out hot. Not sweet enough for me, in fact I don’t think it was sweet at all. Xo Chow Fun: This was ok, wasn’t anything special.

If you want Hong Kong style food in the tri-valley: Wok kee is it! Food: While I’ve had better baked pork chop rice, their cat fish clay pot, egg and beef chow fun(wide noodles) is really tasty! Simmered with tofu and thickened with gravy like sauce, the slightly fried cat fish is the perfect amount of crunchy and silky soft in the interior. The beef chow fun is one of the smoothest I have ever tasted! Environment: Nicer compared to most HK style places. There are a couple of LCD’s about. Clean, modern décor with a romantic atmosphere. Booth seating and tables available.

My family and I were staying in the San Ramon area and was convinced by my relatives to have an early lunch in Pleasanton before heading back to LA. Being from LA, especially having eaten in a variety of Hong Kong style cafes in the San Gabriel Valley(arguably the Asian capital of Los Angeles County), I was a bit hesitant about this place. At first glance, I couldn’t help but notice that it’s in the middle of a very commercial area. At least parking wasn’t an issue. First, we ordered a round of lemon ice teas(a staple in SGV). With lemon ice tea being such popular drink in HK cafes in LA, most tend to skip out on the quality and tastes just like sugar and water with lemon with a hint of tea. Not here, no way. I took a sip and OMG, HELLO and GOODMORNING! It was awesome. The tea was pretty potent and delicious. Very refreshing and exactly how sweet lemon ice tea should be. It had a good amount of sweetness and lemon flavor(came with 4 lemons slices!) with the perfect amount of tea. Words just don’t do it justice. You just have to try it to know. We had a lot of food. Started off with some buns with condense milk and bbq pork buns too. Both were good. Then some rice porridge with thousand year old egg(my fave!) and pork. Moving on to the real food, we had the Coffee Ribs, which were delicious. I had my reserves about this dish. I mean coffee and ribs? Who would have thunk it? Great deep fried outside with tender meat inside, covered with a sweet coffee glaze. Be adventurous and give it a go. We also ordered the pineapple fried rice which is served in an actual pineapple and fried noodles. Both were really good. The french style beef was really tasty and tender as well. We also had the Shanghai soup dumplings(xiao long bao). If you’ve read my reviews before, you know that I love these little bits of deliciousness and I was not disappointed. I have to admit that I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to café food, but I was pretty impressed by this place. We had so much food, I can’t remember everything, but it was all great. digs: good food, reasonable prices, nice clean establishment! not so much: no complaints here thoughts: Definitely try the coffee ribs. Its strange, but delicious.

I usually come here for their afternoon tea specials, with prices so low, it’s better than hanging out at Starbucks. They have a very extensive snack menu such as xo sauce rice rolls(my fav), jook, noodles, etc. great place for catching up with friends over some ice cold milk tea. We decided to give their dinner menu a try tonight and here’s how it went: stewed beef brisket — tender juicy beef brisket over crisp lettuce cooked in a delicious sauce. They don’t skimp on the beef. i haven’t had beef brisket made so well in a long time, the sauce was great over steamed rice. Seafood claypot — best soft tofu ever, fresh shrimp and calamari, large pieces of fish. They don’t fluff the dish with veggies like other places so it’s a hearty portion of lots of seafood! Salt and pepper seabass — real deal Chilean seabass. Thick crispy seabass deep fried till golden brown, well seasoned in some spicy jalepenos, salt and pepper, yummers. Yellow feather chicken with peppers and sweet onions — not your everyday stir fry chicken. Tender juicy chicken still on the bone which retains all the flavors of freshness. Great combo of spices and wok hay. Can’t wait to go again and try out other items on their dinner menu.

Wow. Truly a hidden gem in Pleasanton. I came here with my parents when I was back in town for the weekend. We decided to try something new instead of going to the same old places we usually have. All of us were very satisfied with that choice. We ordered a lot considering we were only a party of 3, and I would definitely recommend to sticking to 3 – 4 dishes if you have a similar party size. That being said, we ordered the xiaolongbao, beef congee, house special tofu clay pot, coffee ribs, beef with oyster sauce, salt and pepper fish fillet, and baked Portuguese chicken rice. The food was all delicious and we honestly didnt mind taking it home. I would probably recommend all of those dishes to anyone who comes in. Also, I hear there’s a lunch special(which is probably more Americanized). Either way, this place is pretty solid for families, shame they don’t get more customers though. They definitely deserve it.

Wok Kee is a Chinese bistro/family restaurant that has a pretty weird location in the back of a small mall right off 680. However if you happen to find this restaurant, you will be surprised by the quality of the Chinese food they serve there. Featured in an advertisement in the newspaper, my family first found this place and have been going here for quite some time. The restaurant seems family owned and all of the waitstaff are very nice and like to interact with their customers. A dish I would like to recommend are the Coffee Ribs. Though it may sound weird to some, the ribs are awesome and we get them every time. Basically they are deep fried pork ribs that are they tossed in a sweet-coffee sauce. The ribs are always juicy and crispy and the sauce adds a nice sweet and savory flavor that most adults will enjoy(Children and those not used to coffee may not like this). I definitely recommend this dish to those new to the restaurant and those that have not tried this very delectable dish. They are now also offering a three course dinner for a little over $ 20, great for those who want to try the restaurant. 4⁄5!

Really four and a half, but I’m rounding up because I’ve had such good times here. I have a friend who thinks all Chinese restaurants have a secret menu that only Chinese people know to order from. This despite the fact that people on Unilocal love to clue to in to what to order. Anyway, I found this place when I came back to work in the area and had my usual Chinese lunch things – Beef With Broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, Spicy Shredded Pork, Mu Shu Pork, the usual. All of those were great(though some days they were greasier than other days). Then I brought some coworkers here. One of them has Hong Kong roots. He ordered the Baked Portuguese Chicken Over Rice and pronounced it the best version he had had outside Hong Kong. That’s Oakland and SF Chinatowns notwithstanding. He called it «HK comfort food». It is a mild curried chicken spread over a casserole dish filled with rice topped with cheese and baked. Its wonderful and very unlike anything I had ordered up til then. We also had the Lobster E-Fu noodles which were very delicate egg noodles topped with a subtle sauce and a generous portion of lobster. It was a special, but it was still on the menu when I was in today. My friend said they were so silken because they are passed through hot oil and never to think of them as a healthy dish, but they tasted great and were not the least bit greasy. We also had the House Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodle, which was a nest of fried noodles topped with mushrooms, seafood, and other vegetables in a clear sauce. This was very good, but perhaps not the best. Anyway, the point to all of this is go here and try things besides the usual. They do really well with the dishes that are a little off the beaten track, and well with the ones you may be used to. Service can sometimes be lax, so be assertive if you need something. Once I have done that, I have had no problems.

I think on the weekends, their happy hour is all day because it seems we always get happy prices regardless of when we eat here for lunch. Solid chow fun dish, pan fried noodles are also very good. Their HK milk tea is only $.99! Why you should trust my review? My palate is classically trained from SF!

Good wor won ton soup and honey walnut prawns. Service is excellent and the staff works hard to please us. Good value for the quality of food versus the price. I like this place but I wouldn’t rate it as the best Chinese restaurant in the tri-valley as others have rated. Still a decent Chinese place to try.

Starting going here because it is around the corner from my house, but quickly realized it is the best Chinese restaurant in Pleasanton. Great every day dishes include Chicken & Corn Soup, Salt & Pepper Fish Fillet, String Beans, Mo Po Tofu. Tonight, had the Smoked Sea Bass which is just over $ 20 bucks and is probably worth over $ 40. It is the best dish I have had in Pleasanton and I have eaten everywhere.

OMG! Finally a GREAT Chinese restaurant in Ptown with Traditional HK flavors! Great food @ great prices! Food: I have been here for Lunch, Dinner and Late Night«Snacks»: — HK Milk Tea: Very good flavor and beats Koi — Wonton noodle soups: Very good, better flavors @ better prices compared to Phở places — Stir fry noodles and Chow Funs: Again, excellent flavors and prepared just right with good mix of meat & veges. Not too salty either. Nice«wok hay» — Dinner menu: I took a group of 9 here for dinner. I highly recommend the following: Peking duck, Coffee Ribs(favorite!), Garlic Stir Fry String Beans(even the kids loved them), Pork Cheek stir fry(venture this dish if you haven’t tried… it was recommended to us and we loved it!), and the Clay-Pot beef brisket(yum!). Service: Very good and always attentive, but not over bearing. Location: A bit hard to spot, in the strip mall behind Dicky’s and Starbucks on Bernal, across from the new Safeway. They are also starting an «afternoon tea special» menu… Wohoooo!!! We will be regulars here!!!

This place just opened in the Knoll Shopping Area(Behind the Dicky’s). It is where Sushiya used to be. We just ate here. We ordered the Onion Pancake, the Shanghai Pork Dumpling, the Broccoli in Garlic Sauce and the Baked Portuguese Chicken over rice. First the Onion Pancake was very flakey, and had a good but not overpowering onion flavor. Very buttery and delicious. They cut up the pancake so you don’t have to tear it up to share which is a nice bonus. The Shanghai Pork dumplings were excellent. A little bit of red wine was really good on them. These were delicious but not unlike anything we had before. You could tell they were fresh so that is a plus. The Broccoli in Garlic sauce was perfect in our opinion. The broccoli was cooked perfectly– not too overdone that it’s mushy and not too raw. The sauce was nice and light. it didn’t have an overpowering flavor that you can get from other restaurants but a pleasant clean taste. Not greasy and not overwhelming with garlic but just enough sauce to taste it. This honestly felt healthy and instead of a splurge that chinese food usually is. Last but not least the Baked Portuguese Chicken over rice. We wanted the Pork chop over rice but they ran out making me believe it was good. Either way this was the highlight of our dinner. It was AMAZING. Seriously I know most people play it safe but try this at least once. You won’t be sorry and you’ll feel bad about thinking of ordering the fried rice once you have. I cannot say enough good things about it. We couldn’t finish it and I am already excited to take it for my lunch tomorrow. Other Non Food Related bonuses: They have a very extensive menu and a lot of items you won’t find at other Chinese places. The inside is very clean and the service is excellent. They refill your water with Brita pitchers. My hubs who ordered a soda got water without even asking which is nice of them. Everyone else’s food looked good. It is CHEAP especially for Pleasanton Standards. We will be back and I am looking forward to it.
