I enjoyed my time eating here. If I can give a 4.5, I would. Food: Loving you Roll — 4.5÷5, needs a little more flavor, can’t quite pin point what it needed but still good. Double cheese Salmon — 5⁄5 inusually don’t eat baked but this was the best baked roll every had. Tomo Special Roll — 5⁄5 Variety choices of Sake. Good liquor menu.(; Service: It was great. They were constantly checking on us and engaging in conversation while we were at the bar.

Could not maintain what the previous owners had started. Very very sad. Had two bad meals in the last four months and that was enough to make me not come back. This used to be the best sushi restaurant around.

HORRIBLERESTAURANT They were unwilling to take any requests for food I wanted. They were rude and the fish my friend got was spoiled and slimy. Also, not freshly made. Obviously an unclean restaurant.

The sushi here was pretty good, but I felt a little pricey. And service… was kind of bad. Considering we came on a Saturday late lunch when there were maybe 2 – 3 other tables of 2 – 4, our food didn’t come out til 40 minutes later. We were starving! We ordered the Green Hornet, which was recommended by a friend, the Golden Titanic Roll, and some crunchy shrimp tempura roll. The later was just to satisfy my craving for shrimp tempura… good but not too special. The Green Hornet looked cool in pictures because it was a dome of avocado, scooped out with sushi inside. However, there’s no rice whatsoever in this creation and avocado plus spicy crab plus salmon is kind of rich. I think some rice would have done this dish some justice in balancing out the rich fatty flavors… and perhaps a little acidity too. Also, my friend’s avocado looks a lot prettier/nicer…like the whole half of avo was scooped out and filled. Ours had patches and slices of avocado and it didn’t look very fresh. I did enjoy the Golden Titanic roll a lot though. For $ 15-$ 16 it comes with ~8 pieces. Besides for the beautiful sauce plating, the sushi itself was pretty good and we saved the sauce for dipping other things. Overall, I might come back to try other sushi because they have a lot on their menu, but it is a little pricey and service can be reallyyy slow. Luckily my sister and I didn’t mind as much but just be wary!

My mom and I found this place as we were running errands and it was well worth it! The food was good and the portions were large. My mom is not a sushi person and she even enjoyed everything she ordered. The only thing is they were a little slow. They seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of customers on a Saturday afternoon.

Very good sushi and I like that it is on Main St in Downtown Pleasanton so it is easy to walk to. I also really like the vibe in this place(they usually have jazz music playing). The sushi is a little pricey but that’s to be expected for sushi on a main street. Once we went in there late and there was nobody else in the restaurant except for a family in the back corner and the server put us right in the back between the family and the wall. We thought it was a little weird that with so much space they crammed us into the back together but it ended up being cool because we sparked up a conversation with the family and have actually become nice acquaintances. We will be back, perhaps not habitually but we will be back.

This sushi restaurant is one of our family’s favorite. The wonderful artistry and presentation of their dishes matches the delightful pairing of fresh ingredients used in their specialty rolls. Our go-to menu selections are the Pleasanton and Ninja Rolls. One must experience the Ninja arriving with a fiery flame centered on the plate. A new creation worth mentioning should be a local favorite — Golden State Warriors roll — topped with a unique pairing of mango and blueberry sauces. From the unique delicacy creations to the nice small dining ambience, this is one local sushi locale we would recommend to all.

Definitely one of the worst sushi places I’ve been to. First off, the restaurant is very very small and right in front of the door is a low hanging curtain that covers the inconveniently places hostess stand that I ran into on my way in. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the strong smoky smell that permeated through the place. The one server on the floor seated is fairly quickly but only gave our table of three one menu. It took us another 10 minutes to get his attention to get a couple more(keep in mind this place is teeny with about 5 tables and then a sushi bar). I ordered 2 of the simplest sushi dishes, sake Maki(raw salmon, rice, seaweed) and an unagi roll(broiled eel, rice, seaweed). It took almost 20 minutes to come out and we had ordered 2 more uncooked dishes that came out 10 minutes later. Unsurprisingly, the salmon roll TASTEDLIKETHESMOKETHATWASALLOVERTHERESTAURANT. this was so disappointing and unpleasant. Unagi also tasted and felt like it was thawed. Definitely not somewhere I would come back to. 2 stars is pretty generous.

Super good Sashimi. Extremely fresh and well priced. I had the yellowtail sashimi combo and miso soup, with a salad. I also had ramune! Very authentic!

Yes, this really is as good as it gets! FRESH sushi, friendly staff and cozy dining area in beautiful downtown Pleasanton. I wish I could eat here everyday! I highly recommend checking out their daily specials, since it changed ownership(the old owners went to retire in Hawaii — how awesome!) they have been really stepping up the sushi game. Creative sushi dishes made with meticulous attention to detail. I have to stress this, because they only use the VERY best part of the fish for sushi. You are not going to get subpar pieces of raw fish so try to deliberately enjoy every morsel of sushi. I love the vegetable tempura appetizer, the Dragon Ball Z roll, really fresh oysters — amazing, you gotta order the Tomo roll, SOGOOD! I could pretty much name the whole menu because it is so good. If you are unsure just ask the chef! They make wonderful suggestions. My daughter likes to order the kids teriyaki dish sometimes salmon, sometimes chicken — she eats the whole thing. Patio eating, cozy booths, and sushi bar. Make reservations if you have a big party and/or on Fridays/Saturdays since those are really busy days in Pleasanton.

I debated on writing this review because it is so bad… We waited almost an hour for a few rolls. The worst part is that we saw the staff taking shots in the kitchen. The woman sneaked the alcohol from the fridge, right in front of us. She mixed it with her Jamba Juice and passed out shots to other staff members. I even captured a picture of her holding the shot glass behind the kitchen curtains. I am beyond disappointed and disturbed.

We ordered Katsu chicken and 2 orders of sushi . It took like 20 mins to get the first dish of chicken and sushi didn’t come at the same time so we could all be eating together. We were the only customers and there was 3 staff members in restaurant should have not had to wait so long for the sushi at least. The first one was good, nice flavores. The second one was just rolled so big you could not fit it in your mouth and it would fall apart.

Walked in at 7pm on a Friday night, order taken at 7:15pm. Server was over extended. Only 5 parties with one server. Doable if everyone was seated in the same area but 2 parties were eating outside on the sidewalk, 2 parties were at the sushi bar and we were at the tables. Add to that were the ToGo orders and we didn’t get our food until 7:45pm. Portions were small. Also thought rice was under seasoned. Got several items including: + salmon kama: Simply grilled with s&p. Perfectly cooked with crispy skin but portion was appetizer-sized. Best dish of the night. So good, we should have ordered more of this and made a meal of it. Instead we also got: = crazy monkey roll: fish tasted OK but didn’t care for the rice = miso sea bass: great presentation, fish tasted fresh but seasoning was off, have had better — rock n roll: mostly rice, unagi almost nonexistent, over sauced

Change of owners but the food are still delicious! The originals owners retired and now it is taken over by some brothers. The new staff are very friendly when I was there for dinner! Tomo is also near the Meadowlark Dairy :) great for a ice cream walk after sushi!

YUM! Had dinner here with my family and we all thought it was a great experience. Small but cozy interior, friendly hospitality, and beautifully plated dishes. The miso seabass is a must try! It melts in your mouth and has a very unique flavor. Also, the assortment of sashimi we ordered was very fresh, esp the blue fin tuna, scallop, and shrimp… mmmmmhhh.

I was really torn on whether to give Tomo 3 or 4 stars. I had to go with 3 for three reasons. 1. My mom got a chirashi bowl and it literally had 8 small pieces of fish(sake, hamachi, whitefish, maguro, and ebi) and two pieces of tamago. I have never seen a chirashi bowl with such a small selection of fish, with such a small portion. Usually chirashi bowls are huge for the price! 2nd, none of the old rolls are on the new menu which makes sense but a lot of the new rolls have crab salad and I’m not always into having rolls where they all taste like a CA roll. And 3rd, the rolls were just decent, I mean the fish was super fresh but the combination of ingredients just either didn’t stand out or didn’t work for me. I really did enjoy my philly roll but that’s a standard for any Japanese restaurant. If the portions get better and they come up with new menu items, I’ll give them another shot.

First time here. They had a great selections of sashimi. We had the blue fin tuna and uni nigiri. Blue fin tuna literally melts in your mouth. It was really good. The uni was very fresh and sweet with no bitter after taste to it. We also tried the sea bass and it was delicious. They had a large selections of sushi rolls so it took me awhile to choose. We ended up getting the Tomo special roll and the Pleasanton roll. The mango miso sauce on the Tomo special roll was very good. It balanced well with the fried tempura inside the roll. Pleasanton roll was very fresh and it’s one of the sushi rolls that didn’t have rice. Great for those who’s watching their carbs intake. Service was great. Waiters/waitresses would check up on you from time to time to refill water or tea or see if you needed anything else. We got a complimentary mochi ice cream for dessert which was awesome.

This is one of the best sushi bars I ever tried in the Bay Area! Their food is fresh and tasty with beautiful looking. it’s worthy to try some new food here. They do have a great list of different choices. I would highly recommend Heart Attack, which is an appetizer. Heart Attack is amazing, and I was so impressed! They offer customers with different sushi options, too. It’s hard to tell which one should be the best on the menu. I have tried 6 or 7 different sushi, and all of them have very good quality and taste. The interior looks nice and clean, and service is friendly and warm. I would definitely go there again with my friends in the future

The fish here is very fresh! In fact it tastes as if it was just caught… sweet, succulent, with just a little taste of the sea! Ah, that makes for good sushi! The place is small and the hours can be a little quirky but the locals seem to love this place. Me? I’ve always wanted to come! Now that’s off the list the only thing left to do is come back and try other things on the menu. This is a nice alternative to my mainstay, Amakara, in Dublin which is always packed!
