My husband has been taking lessons from Jeff for 5 years. He doesn’t just teach songs, he also teaches techniques which you can incorporate into the music you play. Jeff is a nice guy and is easy to talk with. After 5 years we can say he is a good teacher and my husband is learning something or he would not continue to go. He tried a group class through the city but one on one lessons are better. Jeff’s prices are reasonable and you don’t feel like you are part of an assembly line learning process.

Jeff has been my son’s teacher for three years. In that time, his skill and drive to learn have improved tremendously. At first, Jeff was reluctant to take such a young student(7 years old). But after an interview and discussion. He agreed to take him on. I am so happy he did as my son’s ability and confidence have improved beyond what I would hope. In Jeff, we have found a teacher that first instills a love of music and teaches the fun side of playing. Jeff has certainly filled that requirement. I look forward to several more years with Jeff and see my son having the confidence and ability to have fun playing for his friends, family and himself. Jeff has provided a music education to my son that will benefit him all his life, whether or not he makes it a lifelong passion. Even I like taking a lesson once in a while just to enjoy the energy and passion Jeff gives his students.

If you’d like to learn to play music on the guitar, there is no better choice than Jeff Reed at Pleasanton Guitar Studio. Jeff is an incredibly talented musician with a real skill for teaching. It’s really clear he loves music, loves the guitar, and has a passion for sharing these two loves with his students. I was referred to Jeff a few years back when looking for someone who taught jazz guitar. I was interested in picking up the guitar after years of not playing(kids and life didn’t leave time for playing!) and I have found Jeff to be an awesome instructor. I really like that Jeff clearly cares about you as a student and is flexible in working with you at your pace and your speed(and your genre — jazz, blues, whatever!). At the same time, providing feedback and guidance and challenge. I am amazed at the content Jeff packs into each lesson… Ultimately, I enjoy playing guitar more today than when I started with Jeff. And that’s the real magic of a good teacher! I’d highly recommend Jeff to any player that would like to get more out of their playing!

My son began taking lessons from Jeff as an elementary school student, never having picked up a guitar prior to his first lesson. We found Jeff to be extremely patient, teaching the critical basics and patiently teaching increasingly challenging material. Now in high school, my son plays beautifully and we have Jeff to thank for that. Aside from being a great teacher, Jeff is an extraordinarily kind person and he is passionate about sharing his love for music. We would highly recommend him to both the novice student and the experienced player looking to improve upon his or her skills.

If you’re looking to get started with the guitar, or if you want to improve your skills, you really couldn’t go wrong with Jeff. He’s not only a teacher but an accomplished musician and has basically spent his life dedicated to playing and teaching the guitar. He can teach you everything from rock and roll to classical to jazz and he is well versed in theory and music history as well. You will progress as quickly or as slowly as you want to go, the pushing you get from Jeff is only the most gentle sort and he has a good sense of when something has stopped being fun for the moment; he’ll take out a new song or a new technique and only later will you realize he’s steered you right past whatever was giving you trouble. In the last six months I have gone from never having picked up a guitar to learning some good rock and roll songs, some fingerpicking patterns and am moving into more complex chords and faster, more detailed patterns. With Jeff’s tutelage I look forward to practicing and I look forward to each lesson with great anticipation. There is no age or other requirement besides a desire to learn, Jeff teaches all ages from children to people just picking up a guitar in their 60s. If you have always listened to your favorite songs and wished you could play what you heard, go ahead and give Jeff a call(he’s old school, yes you can email him but its not his preferred method of communication).
