David Accord is absolutely the best riding instructor I have ever come across. I have taken my five older children to various riding lessons over the past 20 years. Finally I found the best. My youngest daughter Hannah has been taking lessons with David for the past six months and he is tremendous.
David is so very encouraging and upbeat. His technical skills are superb since he is a Jr Olympian silver medalist. But what really impresses me is how he is able to immediately understand the rider’s abilities and take them so far so quickly. He is always safe and is always thinking about the very best lesson plan for that particular student. But the very thing that we all need in life is encouragement and as a mother of six children, having been around dozens of teachers, instructers and trainers, I can honestly say that David brings out the best in his students. He allows the student to progress at their speed and perform at their best. He is not overly flattering but simply very encouraging and honest. There is truthful analysis in such a way that students are able to correct thier flaws without feeling picked on and the result is big smiles all around.
My daughter is thrilled to learn to jump. The highlight of her week are her riding lessons. David has several students who have been with him for eight years! That says a lot about who he is.
As far as the rest of the program goes, again I have 50+ years of riding experience at dozens of facilities. The arenas are well cared for with safe, deep footing to soften the falls. The facility is clean and tidy and managed well. Unlike some other well-​to-​do stables, this one is not full of haughty pre-​madonnas! Everyone is friendly and positive. Although there’s a lot of riders going to competitions, there’s no competition between riders –and no «drama»!
Lastly, this place has a lot of riders at really high national competitive levels, but if you have a beginner student they will feel equally important. No one will leave without a genuinely happy smile.

I actually never ride there, but I called today and talked to Jennifer and she was so professional. She was very nice over the phone and took the time to talk to me, asked me questions about myself and riding style. The barn is kind of far from my place so I don’t think I could come to lesson often, but I would to visit it!

David Acord, himself an accomplished Three Day Eventing Competitor, and his wife Jennifer own New Heights. Laurel Glass is the assistant trainer. I have been riding for MANY years and David and Laurel are not only knowledgeable but very supportive. The age of their clients ranges from as young as six years old to 60’s. One of the young students competing on one of their reliable lesson horses won the Area VI Novice championship in 2012. You can take lessons on your own horse or a lesson horse and they also offer full training for the horse and rider. Neither David nor Laurel will push a student beyond their limits but they will challenge you to do more than you thought you could. Three Day Eventing also called Combined Training includes the disciplines of Dressage, Cross Country Jumping and Show Jumping and is an Olympic Equestrian sport. I have never heard David or Laurel yell at a student nor have I ever seen them use too «force» when disciplining or training a horse. They also do not use gimmicks to train the horses. My grand daughter was five when she started lessons with David and Laurel and was competing on her pony at six at small local shows.
