Somebody stop me! I keep going back to this when I know the experience is going to be like the pre-intervention part of Restaurant Impossible. Today I had Thai Chicken and the chicken was undercooked and of terrible quality. It also came with canned string beans in a lovely sauce of water(which had more taste than the string beans). Previously I had a chicken breast sandwich which looked and tasted like the sole of a white Coach shoe between two pieces of toast. The hits keep coming but you get the idea. The sad thing is that this vendor is the replacement for the caterer that was bad…

This place is absolutely awful. *Maybe* for breakfast, it’s ok. How can you fuck up breakfast, right? Well, think again, because you can. I ordered 2 eggs overeasy and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns looked like they’ve been sitting there for ages and burnt. The eggs… I didn’t realize overeasy meant cooked yolks. :P WTF. Never come here for lunch EVER. The food station lines get insanely long, the staff inefficient in serving more than 1 person at a time, and the cashier lines are just plain awful. Yes, this is a cafeteria, but it *supposed* to be an upscale café. The food is ALWAYS bland. More misses than hits. The staff looks like they could give 2 shits. If you want a cafeteria that is the *complete* opposite of this, walk across the street into the Oracle campus and visit their Bön Appetit Café.

Wow — we work with some REAL Divas here It is a work cafeteria. The fact it is a cafeteria(Don’t let the word café fool you), your expectations should be curbed already. I think the fruit is fresh, the grill does a good job, and you can even get a decent piece of pizza. None of the food is gourmet quality, but when you are too lazy to leave your own campus, how good can you expect? We don’t work for Google. They can be a little pricey, usually one of the staples of ordering at the work-café is usually a cheaper meal — you don’t get a lot in the way of discounts down here.

I go to the Diablo Café all the time for work here at Kaiser. Sadly for me, convenience far outweighs the quality and price of food. A quick run downstairs, grab some food, and back to my desk during lunchtime. Burgers/sandwiches from the grill will be about $ 6.50. They have a salad bar and a make your own sandwich bar but priced pretty high. Once I made a $ 8 tuna sandwich with a moderate amount of tuna and veggies. Last time I ever made my own sandwich. And now, they strictly require a $ 5 minimum for credit cards.

It’s not the best ever but it was still quite tasty. I thought the service was good, with the young staff having been very attentive. Have had the cranberry turkey sandwich and the cream cheese with chicken sandwich. Both were good. A sandwich, drink, small cookie, and soda will run u about $ 12.

Awww. This place has been gettin a kickin’ by Unilocalers huh. I agree, it’s not the place to get flavorful, good food. Definitely a sad little place compared to its big brother at Redwood Shores. In fact, I would ask people to steer clear of this place except to get flank steak, salad, personal pizzas, and a burger with fries or onion rings. In fact, if this was a burger joint, I would have given it 4 stars. For about 5 – 6 dollars you get a big burger made of fresh(i think) niman ranch meat with fries. Depending on the special for that day, the burger could be topped with bacon, cheese, onions, avocado, etc, etc… I kicked two stars away for the rest of the stuff there… I actually got wayyyy undercooked potato scallops there once… very disappointing.

Worst. grilled. chicken. ever. Seriously. These guys could care less. And why not — like… where else are you going to go? With a captive audience like this, you don’t need to be good. I watched in horror as the grill jockey completely ignored my request for wheat bread. I marvelled at his ability to pretend not to hear my coworkers substitution — american for swiss cheese. I gasped at his ability to sling the boxed up completed order(with cold broken french fries) on to the counter without so much as a «Here’s your order». I positively gaped at the«Grilled Cheese» sandwich that had hunks of unmelted cheese in it. The crudités in the salad bar looks as if they were cut with a chainsaw. Each piece is about 4 inches in diameter. I don’t know why they bother cutting them at all. It’s confusing, unappetizing and the variety is extremely limited.

I gotta agree with Jaime on this, the place has definitely gone downhill since Scott left. And while I understand prices are going up everywhere, there have been times I really have had sticker shock at what I thought was going to be a fairly reasonably priced lunch. The new grill guy doesn’t clean or scrape his grill very often, so my veggie burgers come out tasting like meat, which goes against the point of having a veggie burger, ya know? Also, he seems to not listen very carefully to your order. He almost always forgets either the grilled onions or cheese. It’s annoying. But, that said, they still have a decent selection and there is usually something that looks good.

New owners, new management and employees, new everything since I last wrote about this place. Fresh & Natural now owns the café. Overall, things are still on the pricey side, but I think the key here is to go for the Asian food, their bento boxes are the best deal around and keep you well fed! Their grill isn’t too shabby and the grill guy(I still don’t know his name) will hook you up with almost any creation you wish, especially at breakfast!
