This location is closed. I drove out there today and the store front is empty and a For Lease sign is in the window. Don’t be fooled by the sign still up on the building.

the last time i drove by here, it looked like bombay’s been vacated. it was a hot day. maybe i was hallucinating. called the number. a recording says. «the number you are calling has been disconnected.»… I’m hearing things now. i need another froyo.

I came here today after lunch and I sampled the chai, chiku, and fig ice creams. The fig had an interesting flavor to it but I think I’m just not a fan of the fruit. The chai ice cream tasted like milk tea but with a bit more spice to it, it is chai after all. Chiku is a tropical fruit flavored ice cream and it was my favorite of the three choices. Next time I may try the cardamom or rose flavors.

I actually found this place on Unilocal and it seemed intriguing enough for me to venture out and try. The owner was very friendly and gave me lots to sample. The Indian flavors were tasty and unique. I ended up getting 2 scoops of lychee and took home a couple of pints to share with friends. A little discovery while talking to the proud owner: she was featured on the Food Network with her recipes! This place doesn’t have the best décor but the ice cream is a knock-out!

you wouldn’t know this was an ice cream shop if it didn’t have a sign on it. I wanted to be adventurous and try the cardamon/rose ice cream. and while it was flavorful and yummy, i didn’t think that i could eat a whole scoop. so I stuck with the standard mango. i am used to high fat/cream ice creams like Stone cold, so I felt this icecream was a bit on the airy/light side. but still tasting like fresh mango. but I’ve had better. I’ll come again to try other flavors and hope to give a better review the next time. SIDENOTE: I had a samosa for under a buck, and it was spicy and fabulous! I’d come here again just for the chaat.

Wow, Wow, Wow! I’ve had gourmet ice cream all over the country, and this stuff is just as good and in my hometown! I don’t know where it’s made, but it is damn good. They have the best selection of flavors, with some typical flavors and some more exotic. I really wanted to try ginger, but there wasn’t any left so I went for Cardamon which was superb! They didn’t have quite as many flavors as were advertised on their website but still an excellent selection. If you like ice cream that is creamier, thicker, and much more flavorful than Thrifty, go here and you won’t be disappointed. You can get cones, or pints to go and they also have samosas and other indian fast food.

Food: 2.5 stars Service: 2.5 stars Value: 2 stars I was looking forward to trying this place and I finally got to try their ice cream with my friend. The indian flavors were interesting and tasted unique from regular ice cream store. I ordered one scoop of ginger and one scoop of cardamon. The cardamon was pretty good, but I was disappointed of the ginger. I am a big fan of ginger and crazy about anything that has ginger taste. I was disappointed about their ginger ice cream because I could barely taste the ginger flavor. My friend said may be they didn’t want to put too much ginger taste because some people might not like it. But my point was if a person doesn’t like ginger taste, they won’t order that flavor. But if a person, like me, liked ginger taste and ordered that flavored ice cream, would expect to have a strong ginger flavor. Don’t make the flavor half way! It totally dispointed the ginger fans. Also, I ordered a mango lassi take out for my husband. While the guy was making it, I suspected something was wrong. I knew lassi was a cold drink, but I didn’t see the guy put any ice nor the ingredients were cold. I took a sip of the drinks and it was in room temperature — it tasted bad… errhhh… I asked him if he has any ice, but he said there was no ice in the store. How ridiculous! He asked me to order the mango smoothie instead, but my husband doesn’t like milk, so I refused. When I paid for the yucky room temperature so-called lassi, he charged me $ 3.75. I clearly looked at the wall menu and it said«mango lassi $ 1.95», how could it become $ 3.75? A 100% sales tax? The worst thing was I was sick an hour later. Was it from the lunch at Royal Tofu House or the ice cream from Bombay? I don’t know…

fantastic and unusual flavors you never really see in most ice cream shops but how often do you really see and indian based ice cream shop with indian food to boot?! i love cashews so i gotta say the cashew raisin is my favorite along with the pumpkin and banana. the décor inside isn’t anything special at all and the location is the worst in this crappy pleasanton strip mall. and i have to drop this place another star because they are closed on sundays. you gotta be kidding me sunday is the day for good ice cream, so open up and you may stick around and continue to stay in business.

Great ice cream, they do have regular flavors like vanilla and chocolate, but who can resist trying things like lychee, cardamon and chai!(though I agree it’s better to try the rose rather than get an entire scoop) And when we were there the guy working was awesome and very patient, telling us what ones we should try, and making sure we got the best combination. Am definitely coming back!

I’d probably go for five stars, but it’s not exactly cozy in here. But the selection is great and the flavors are tasty. The staff are hit or miss — some really friendly, others much milder but still nice. I’ve been here three times now … twice for ice cream and once for chaat. A single scoop of ice cream costs $ 2.25. The lychee is awesome — it was flavorful, had a couple bits of fruit in it as well as these random really creamy(almost marshmallowy?) bits too. I’ve also tried Pink Banana … I think the«pink» is raspberry but I’m not sure. It was good, but the lychee was better. I totally want to go back and try cantaloupe, almond pistachio, coconut … the list goes on. Yum. Most recently I tried the samosa cholle(only $ 2.95) which is vegetarian samosas with tamarind and cilantro chutney, yogurt, onions and masala. A little spicy, but«medium» is tolerable! Very tasty. One of the cheapest lunches in town.

I was feeling kind of down and thought that some ice cream from Bombay Ice Cream might cheer me up. This was my first time here and tried the Cardamon Rose and the Chicku ice creams. They did the trick and I ordered a scoop of each in a cup to go… YUMMM… It wasn’t easy driving home but I managed. I can’t wait to go back and get more ice cream and try their samosas.

As for the rose ice cream, eat it once for free to say you’ve tried it. By the fourth bite its like eating perfume. It goes from good to horrible that quick. Still, the other flavors are fantastic! Try em all. Enjoy. I’m working my way through the menu.

I just had a sudden craving for this place… it’s killing me. I used to go to Bombay Ice Cream pretty frequently when I lived in Dublin. Yumm. and those flavors… kesar pista(my favorite), fig, chai, chiku… They also have a special.Kulfi.an «Indian sundae, made with more richer, creamier ice cream, rose syrup, vermacelli, and rabri(Indian pudding).»…so good it was featured on the Food Network! I wish I could have some right now!

SSshhhh… it’s a secret, that everyone should know about. Bombay Ice Cream company is Pleasanton’s li’l secret. They operate out of 2 locations the other one is in SF. Besides their unique and innovative flavors of ice cream they have excellent food. I love their Samosas!!! I order 2 of them, couple them with their various sauces, they are delish! A must try for any of you locals out there…

Have you ever had saffron rose ice cream? If you haven’t, then head on over to Bombay Ice Cream where you can taste flavors you’ve never even heard of… things like, ginger, cardamon, bedam kesar pista, and green tea(my fav). I love the uniqueness of this place. They also serve various chaat dishes(indian fast food) and curries and lassi and kulfi, although I haven’t tried any at this location. The place is tucked away behind the 7 eleven on Valley and Santa Rita, so if you don’t know it’s there you would probably miss it. The store hours claim that it opens at 11 am, but I think they are still on «India Standard Time» and open whenever they feel like it:) Come around 12:30 and the doors should be open by then. Enjoy the cream!
