DONOTSHOPHERE… I only put 1 star because I had to put one in order to post I am a winery owner that was hosed over by the same owner of this«new name» — he owes THOUSANDS of DOLLARS to wineries, many of which including me will be taking him to court. They are not only shady people but HORRIBLE business owners. If you want to shop from people that steal, cheat and lie then go right ahead…

We went in with a groupon not knowing what to expect, but walked out completely satisfied wanting to comeback. We ended up buying another seven bottles of wine on our way out. We are not wine experts but it was a comfortable environment and the owner was very nice. Made us feel welcome and we look forward to going back.

After reading all of the reviews, I have to wonder if we are talking about the same shop. Anyway, I agree that everyone there is courteous and somewhat helpful when selecting a wine. They are also very generous with their flight servings; however, every wine that I’ve enjoyed(and purchased) is no longer on the shelf. I understand they are a small wine shop, but it would make a lot of business sense to stock what sells. Overall, some good wines and reasonable prices, but limited quanity and lack of availability make it a 2 star rating for me. Maybe with a little more time and experience with vendors under their belt, they will improve. IF they can stay in business.

CLOSED — ASOFMARCH29, 2012 We were members of the wine store/club Wine merchants that previously occupied the space, and were sad to see it leave, but were glad that another local business Sips Cellars filled the open space. But that too unfortunately did not succeed. Be it bad planning, bad business habits, lack of financial acumen or just not knowing your product & consumer — to have a wine business succeed you firstly have to be passionate about wine. Apparently he did not even like wine. I hope he lands on his feet and trust that a successful business goes in that location. We love having it as a local place to go, and we would love to see it be successful. People in this area are very conscientious and passionate about supporting local business, so half the battle is already won !

It’s so nice to have a wine shop nearby where you are able to go in, sit down and have a glass of wine, or a flight of wines. Tastings are also available when you join the wine club! Sips is a comfortable place to meet up with friends and enjoy a great selection of wine!

We were members of the wine shop that formerly occupied this space, were very happy with it, and were disappointed when they abruptly closed their doors. Luckily, someone picked up the pieces and Sips Cellars is now open. We were planning to visit the new shop and saw a Groupon deal for two wine flights and a five cheese/four meat plate for $ 19. Done and done. We stopped by on a Sunday, late afternoon. I checked their website and it said that they are open until 7:00 pm on Sunday but the sign on the door said they closed at 6:00 pm I thought we had missed our opportunity for the day but, walking in at 6:15 pm, we were welcomed warmly and told, by the owner himself, that«I’ll stay as long as my customers want to stay.» Well played. Unlike many other places, the wine flights were not pre-chosen. The owner(whose name unfortunately escapes me) tailored the flights to our tastes and based on what we have had before. He also gave us generous pours of two whites to try while we waited for him to prepare wine flights for two other people. As for the flights, we were able to try six different wines between the two of us and they were all really good. We bought a bottle of a delightful red blend from a local winery — something we probably wouldn’t have been able to find and taste anywhere else. The cheese and meat plate was also delicious — a great variety. For anyone familiar with the former wine shop(Pleasant Hill Wine Merchant) you can expect to find the same, if not better, quality of wine at reasonable prices, served up in a revamped, refined, welcoming space. They have a monthly wine club available. Tempting, very tempting.

Went there today with a groupon. Victor was very pleasant, friendly, and Knowledgeable. Atmosphere is very relaxing. Fantastic flight of wines paired with an awesome array of meats/cheeses/fruits to compliment both reds & whites. Great to do as a couple or a group. Victor has lots more planned and I can’t wait to see what is coming next. Will be going back frequently!; }

Went to Sips for an event and was very pleasantly surprised! Cool, relaxing vibe, low lighting, background music and a great selection of wines to try and to buy in all price ranges. Mark and Victor really know their stuff and are great hosts — very welcoming, friendly and approachable. They really seem to embrace opportunities to help out the local community too. Glad we discovered Sips and will be back!

Who would have thought you could be offered such a great selection of wine in Pleasant Hill. Sips is a great place to meet up with friends or just try out some really nice wine. Its now our go-to wine shop when we need to pickup a bottle to bring to a friend’s or serve in our home. Their new lounge and lighting makes it an inviting place to sit down and relax over a flight(or two) of premium wines.
