Excellent! Lots of different flavors! Very clean and friendly. All the«homemade ice cream» is made in the store. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed our ice cream. They also have a drive through. Great experience.

The ice cream speaks for its self! But what I have to commend is the fact that there are mostly high school kids working in there and they are the most respectful, courteous, attentive, servers I have come across. Love this place!

We found this place on Unilocal and had to come try it. Two milkshakes, a banana split, and a single cone cost $ 19 and was very worth it. Probably some of the best ice cream I have ever had. You can also purchase cales and quarts of ice cream. Very delicious and I so glad we found it. Super clean and super friendly.

The ice cream is delicious! Best I’ve had in the Des Moines area. They are also now open for lunch and have fantastic soup and sandwiches.

Best ice cream in Des Moines. Trust me. I can’t think of any place better. Everything is handcrafted and made in small batches. They also sell great chocolates. Best ice cream ever is Sebastian Joes in Minneapolis, this one comes in a close second potentially edging out Izzy’s also based in MInneapolis. Believe me this is good, we drive far for good ice cream and have gone to Minneapolis for the sole purpose of good ice cream. With Over the top here in Iowa… those trips will become a lot less frequent.

I’m in the area pretty often and have to drive alternative routes so as not to be tempted to stop here too much. Such awesome ice cream! Love that they let you do a taster of a separate flavor on top of what you’re already ordering.

We had a coupon for this place from the Visit Des Moines web site and it was not far from our route to Chicago, so we dropped in… and it was closed! We checked the web site and they didn’t mention that they were closed Easter Sunday! Undaunted we tried again the following day… and it was closed! This time is was our fault since we had arrived about 20 minutes before they opened. Fortunately the woman inside that was opening up saw us drooling outside the door and graciously opened early for us! Inside the ice creams were displayed like gelato in open stainless steel tubs inside a refrigerated glass display case. They had 36 wonderfully displayed flavors that sounded great, so making a final choice was a problem. This was solved by tasting all the contenders in my top ten list.(Fortunately we were the only customers so no one had to wait through our sampling bout.) The ice cream flavors were all creamy and flavorful without an artificial taste. All the ice creams and sorbets are made here daily and you can taste the quality! I had a cup of Coconut Almond Delight and Cherry Amarretto. The surprise was that on your ice cream order they put a melon-ball sized scoop of another flavor on top(hence the name«Over the Top») for you to try!(I had«Twisted Sister».) This was a wonderful find and a must visit for any ice cream aficiondo!

Stopped in here on our way back to St. Louis from seeing family in Des Moines. Best ice cream we have had. All homemade, tons of flavors, family owned, very cool place. Owners are very friendly, they give you a free baby scoop on top of every cone or cup so you can try more flavors. Cake Batter flavor is amazing! Great prices.

Tasty, homemade ice cream — so many flavors, and even the waffle cone was delicious. If only it weren’t all the way in Pleasant Hill… but maybe that’s a god thing, or I might be in there every day.
