I live right across the street so I love being able to walk here and have a margarita or just get a burrito to go. It’s a nice casual neighborhood feel. You can hang out at the bar on one side and watch sports or hang out or sit on the other side for dinner. I have to say I am not the best person to comment on Mexican food. I tend to go for the«American» version of things as I am not a big fan of hot and spicy. I like the burritos and tacos here the best. Great neighborhood place.

I truly wish it were good, or even average. I live like 200 yards away and love Mexican food. I honestly don’t understand how they can’t get it right; it is not the most complicated cuisine in the world to make it taste at least okay. We have tried probably 4 – 5 times but it is consistently bad. We’ve even driven to the other Hacienda in Westchester(not stellar either) instead of making the 1 minute walk. Please, please, please make your food better!

We found this restaurant by chance coming from the South Bay. While this was certainly not my first choice, we decided to try it due to the level of hunger. The restaurant itself is a little dated and old. Also, the restaurant had a mildew smell it. The furniture is worn and is in need of renovation. With that said, as we walked we were greeted by the hostess who seemed less interested in seating us and was pretty curt about it. Service at our table was good and the server was attentive. The 3-star rating is mostly for the food. The enchilada del mar is the house favorite. I found that the food was a bland and lacked the«pop» I so enjoy when visiting a Mexican restaurant.

I absolutely love this place and the people who work there. The food is exactly what you should expect from your local Mexican joint, the skinny margaritas are legendary, and the customer service is like home without the silent judgement. For happy hour, dinner or lunch, I just love the Playa Hacienda. Cheers!

I came here with my friends for some food and maybe a drink or two. After receiving our food, I asked the waiter for a glass of water, to which he responded, «We don’t do water.» Sorry, what? I was so shocked I couldn’t say anything. My friend went up to the bar and asked for water. The bartender said the same thing. She offered to PURCHASE a bottle of water. They don’t have bottled water. After some prodding, we were able to get a cup of ice. What am I supposed to do with that? Chew on it when I’m thirsty? The most bizarre restaurant situation I’ve ever experienced. We left as quickly we we could. I later heard from an inside source that their water may not be food safe(«allegedly») so they can’t serve it … Though they are cooking with it. So gross. Beware.

I live in Playa Del Rey and I now try to avoid this restaurant. The last time I dined here the host said some really sexist things to our server which made us feel really uncomfortable. The host was a white male and when he introduced us to our server(who was a hispanic female) he sad something like, «This is your server, she will be waiting on you topless.» and then made some really demeaning comments like«she better behave herself» or something like that. The server looked totally embarrassed. I wanted to ask her why she puts up with such sexist, misogynistic comments from her manager, or host or whoever he was. Surely, that is sexual harassment. I wanted to say something but I didn’t want to embarrass her further. If it helps, the man was tall and kinda thin. Drinks are fine, food was okay, service has been underwhelming to poor.

Unfortunately did not have a good experience here. Went on a Friday night and it was moderately busy. Very very noisy though-it might also be bad acoustics. Ordered three entrees and it took over 40 minutes to get our food. The table next to us came 25 min after us and got their entrees first. And we ordered practically the same dishes. The server said the wait was bc the kitchen was busy but then why would tables who came after us get their food before us? Shrimp fajitas were flavorless. The fries came out cold. Drinks were good… ill give them an extra star for that. Parking in a small lot or plenty on the street. Oh another annoying thing is that the smoke from people smoking right outside the front door would come wafting in constantly.

My fiancé and I live up the street and come here at least once a month but usually once a week. The food, drinks and service are all ok but it’s walking distance from our place so we keep coming back. Tonight we sat at the bar for dinner and next to us sat a completely OVERSERVED group of 4. My fiancé and I were having a convo about his sleep patterns and I catch out of the corner of my eye one of their group is completely engaged in our convo. So I ask if I can help her and she goes off on me about having a «b**** face» and that’s why she was staring. Another of their group literally starts yelling over 3 people swear words and incoherently. We were physically threatened and not one person did anything to stop these people. So we complained to the bartender, Veronica, about being harassed by the group next to us. The group leaves but not before their drinks and meals were all COMPED. AREYOUSERIOUS!!! I wasn’t asking for anything other than this group to be moved or for you to stop feeding them rounds of shots. So after sitting at the bar for about another 20 minutes we asked the bartender, Veronica, if we could speak with the manager, she said she was the owner. We re-told her about our experience and were told when we come back those other customers will not be welcome at the same time we are there.

What a great spot!!! Highly underestimated. Friendly staff, great food, and a bar that has a ton of great Tequila. Dobel! Siete Leguas! And Herradura! All you need. Thanks for a bomb Bloody Mary.

Nope, just as bad as their other restaurant on Lincoln. This was my first time being at this particular restaurant and I wouldn’t come back. We asked to be seated outside which was sidewalk seating, I didn’t mind that but the tv didn’t work and my family wanted to watch the baseball game. Next, the chips were stale and cold. Salsa was whatever. I ordered the carne asada and it was just a piece of crappy steak that wasn’t cooked all the way. It came with greasy potatoes, what tasted like boxed Mexican rice and old crusty beans. I did not enjoy my food one bit

Ok, we decided that after a year, we should give this local business a try again. There were 8 of us at home wanting take out and Hacienda being just down the street, I wanted to have high hopes. They offer online order thru Eat24 which is easy for a crowd, however, there were very few options to choose from so we had to make some notes(like order a $ 10 burrito for the kids and noting beans and cheese only etc.). But easy enough and done. I called to find out how long for pick up and confirmed the order. They called back and double confirmed the notes we made. Yay! However, when we brought the food home, only 2 of the 8 items were correct. Funny enough one of the correct orders was one with special notes. There were 4 items we ordered with no special notes, and they were all different than the menu(i.e. a burrito that said dry on the menu was actually wet). Adults can deal with mistakes, and we did, however, both my kids’ meals were covered in hot sauce and jalapenos, after we put the notes in and confirmed on the phone twice. The food was actually not bad tasting this time, although I’ve had better, I would not have complained at all if the orders were at least mostly correct. Mostly incorrect for an established business is just unacceptable. One last thing, except for one girl at the front desk, the staff was rude and even hung up on me once.

Horrible first time experience. I ordered a tortilla soup, which did not state it had any type of meat. However when I received the tortilla soup, the broth tasted like pork and found pieces of albondigas in it. Had to send it back because I do not eat meat. I instead ordered a shrimp taco and when I got the receipt they still wanted to charge me for the tortilla soup and it took them forever to bring the receipt back. As I was leaving I mentioned it to the manager who was around. He had no idea what«albondiga soup» is and I had to explain to him that the broth had pieces of meatballs in it. He obviously was not well informed on what he served in the restaurant he runs.

Ok. So I’ve been looking for a good go to Mexican place. And let me tell you, even though it’s California. L.A. no less, it’s damn hard. 9 months of trial and error at various different taco places and more formal Mexican Restaurants my friend introduced me to Hacienda and I’ve fallen in love. Really reasonably prices classic Mexican with some American favorites as well. I introduced another friend of mine to Hacienda and she’s hooked too! I’m a fan and will be back.

So I recently moved to the WLA area so I been trying different spots. So my hubby and I ended here at Hacienda Playa, I had the Best enchiladas Poblanas, followed with a shot of patron and corona… Chips and salsa was a plus great and red sauce.

I like this place a lot due to the atmosphere, but it is just so damn expensive. Of the favorite items I tried, I recommend: cheese enchiladas crispy chicken tacos chicken taquitos carnitas I do not recommend: the Mexican pizza or anything filled the the shredded beef — it has cooked carrots in it, unless you’re into that. Great real fruit flavored margaritas, but like $ 12 each.

The staff is friendly, the service sucks!, the food is less than mediocre so I stopped going there for a while. They used to have homemade tortillas however, my burrito was made with a store bought tortilla… But the real kicker — wait for it. I asked the waiter why they didn’t have a baby changing station in the women’s(or men’s) restroom. He said«I don’t know but you should say something to the manager because she won’t listen to me.» I went up to the manager and asked if they could put a baby changing station in the women’s restroom(as we had to change our sons diaper in the parking lot) and she said! «for babies!?» I said«yeah’l And WALKEDAWAYFROMME. How rude! I won’t be giving the hacienda any of my hard earned money ever again! They suck A$$. And will tell everyone in Playa stay away!

Location is great. Place is okay. One star for the service and cleanliness. We ordered chicken burrito and we ended getting beef burrito. They also forgot my lemonade, I have to remind them that I ordered one. Food, was not that impressive, had better Mexican food than this. The one thing that bothers me was the flies. We had to cover our drinks with napkins and we had to shoo the flies in order for them not to land on our food. Gross! Cleanliness??? Thy are rated B, I wonder why?

everything that we asked not to on our food was on our plates. I asked for no sour cream they put it on my plate. I asked for beef and got chicken? my daughter asked for no tomatoes and no guacamole but they put it on.:( oops, I guess beef doesn’t have to be brown.
