I think this restaurant should be top of the list. My filet was perfect as was my husband’s salmon. Great salads and deserts too. Fantastic waitress. We will be returning whenever in town. Nice décor. Quiet and calm.

My wife and I were taking a drive and decided to stop in Plattsburgh. We both were hungry and my wife suggested I check out the Unilocal reviews for the area. We saw that Anthony’s had 4 star reviews and decided to give them a try. Everything was fantastic! From the moment we walked in until the time we left, the service was excellent. They had us won over with the warm fresh bread brought to the table. The Cesar salad was the best we both had ever had. My wife had the bison and I had the salmon. They both were excellent! The service was spot on! Everyone was so attentive! Always checking to see if we needed anything else. We will definitely return to Anthony’s.

I come to Plattsburgh twice a month and for some reason hadn’t been to Anthony’s since it opened in 1980. My husband and I went for dinner on a very busy Saturday night looking for a nice spot for dinner, which is difficult to find in Plattsburgh. There was a wedding reception and a full dining room, we were able to snag the last table in the Bistro. From start to finish it was a wonderful evening. Our waitress(Britney?) was terrific. She was friendly, helpful, and professional. The menu is wonderful mix, I had the Tournedos of Beef Gorgonzola and my husband had the Rack of Lamb, both were perfect. We had recently dined at The Red Lion Inn in Lenox, and I have to say the meals, and cozy atmosphere at Anthony’s was far superior. Will definitely become a regular stop for us.

Fantastic food and wonderful desserts with a good wine list! They can make great cocktails if you show them a recipe but I suggest staying clear cocktail list. The beer selection is limited but could be great with some additional selections or different options. Wonderful service and fun piano music in the bistro on the weekends. I absolutely recommend this restaurant!

My son’s been waiting for his birthday for some time. He’s heard a lot about Anthony’s and wanted to try it out. Color me very impressed. Prices range drastically from entrees well under $ 20 to specials costing a little over $ 30. This was a splurge, so we did not set a budget for this trip, though in the future, we’d have to. Food My daughter’s a vegetarian, so she had fewer options, though there were still some. She opted for the large salad and was a little disappointed by the lack of a homemade ranch, but the parmesan peppercorn dressing was very tasty. She definitely got her money’s worth with the amount of veggies in this huge plate. The rest of us had plenty of options on the dinner menu and bistro menu. The bison strip steak was excellent, and my son raved over his Wellington. My husband loved his salmon, and my son’s girlfriend was equally impressed with her filet mignon. We also went for dessert and the sweet potato ice cream was a decadent treat that both my daughter and I loved. The German Chocolate cake was another hit. Service The service was equally impressive. Our waiter was excellent, and I appreciated the compliment from either the owner/manager? or bartender? who commented that it’s a rare and exciting day that a female beer drinker enters the restaurant. I like wine, but I am much happier with a hoppy IPA. We felt welcome from the moment we entered and will definitely return. I do recommend having a reservation. We made one for opening(5pm) and within 30 minutes of us sitting down, we noticed almost every table was full.

My boyfriend and I were in Plattsburgh for a long vacation weekend. We didn’t want to cook on Saturday night so we Unilocaled good eats in the area and Anthony’s popped up. The service was truly wonderful. Everyone was so nice and attentive so for that they deserve some stars. The food, unfortunately, wasn’t as spectacular. My lobster bisque appetizer was quite tasty and would probably order that again. My entrée of the wild boar medallions in tomato jus served over linguine was very underwhelming. I really did want to love this place considering the level of service that we received, but unfortunately, the food fell flat. This place has a cute semi-romantic atmosphere so I totally wouldn’t discount it for another visit.

After a very long day of travel, including being locked in a car for 7 hours with two 20-month old twins, my sister and I checked into our hotel and put the kiddos in their strollers for a walk to dinner. The hotel website noted that Anthony’s was an Italian restaurant so we figured it might be good for the kids. My three star review is based on the wonderful manager/host who was very kind to us and not on anything else at the restaurant. Upon walking up to the door, we were greeted with a menu on the door(our first sign that this was not a kid– friendly place) but the nice manager/host saw us walking up with the strollers and held the door open for us. He was very sweet and asked if we wanted the candlelit dinner side of the restaurant or the more casual bistro side. We of course said bistro, but I thought it was charming he took the time to ask us instead of just assuming we wanted the«casual» side. He also helped us get seated, found two high chairs and brought crayons for the kids. I can’t commend him enough for how kindly he treated us. Our waitress was a different story — visibly irritated that we were there with kids — I’m sure she assumed we would leave a huge mess and a small tip. We did neither of those things even though we felt she was definitely mad she had to serve us. Whatever — food was sub-par anyways. I can get penne with sauce at pizza places in Buffalo that taste better than the pasta we had at Anthony’s in Plattsburgh. Anyways, I’m sure it’s a different experience when you are kid-less and I appreciated the manager/host’s attempts at making us feel comfortable there.

Stopped on a road trip to Canada. Great food, great service and a wonderful location. Try any special. We had 5, including a local beer and 2 desserts. The duck spring roles, homemade ice cream and homemade sausage were great. The local beer plucky rooster? I think also very good. Our waitress was both friendly and helpful. A pleasant experience. Just what we needed to break up our 8 hour drive.

I travel a lot for my business, and recently found myself in Plattsburgh. I ate at this restaurant some years ago, and remember it was good, so finding myself in town again recently, I stopped back in. I was not at al disappointed. I knew I was in the right spot immediately on exiting my car in the parking lot; the smell of garlic was in the air! Always a good sign… The restaurant is divided in half; with one side a more casual«bistro» environment, and the other side a bit more formal. There is a single kitchen, and if you sit in the bistro, as I did, you can freely order off of the«restaurant» menu; as I did. Started the meal with a fried duck«spring roll». It was excellent. The duck was succulent, and as an appetizer, it set me up w/o filling me up. Followed w/special dish that was being offered, off menu. It was a broiled Florida Grouper over a very tasty risotto. The fish was fresh, flakey, and perfectly cooked. The risotto was moist and flavorful. The service was very good. My waiter was extremely attentive, w/o being obtrusive. The wine list was good, offering a nice range of wines by the glass w/o gauging you. This spot is definitely worth a try.

The food was terrible. The pasta sauces tasted like they were out of cans and it took me twenty minutes to get my drink after i ordered it. Never coming back

So I thought I was doomed to a chain in the frozen tundra. I asked the local pharmacist(always a good source of information-even non pharmaceutical related) for a recommendation– he thought about 2 seconds and told me about this place. Unbelievable! I had never heard of poached clams. They were outstanding-in a wine butter broth with tomato and chives. I chose a pork dish. They take a loin of pork, pound it flatter and sautéed with procuitto and cheese-to die For! This is an incredible find in the middle of frozen northern New York I’ll be back whenever I’m in the area.

This restaurant charged my credit card $ 200 ! It’s pretty much normal for a fancy restaurant you will say. But the fact is I have never been in Plattsburgh, NY in my life. I live in California and when I sow this charge I my statement I got shocked! It shows as telephone or mail order transaction. Be aware of fraud they doing!

Traveling and wanted a place for a intimate dinner and this place delivered. Service was great and food was incredible. We had filet and shrimp with risotto which was fresh and well prepared. Everything was great wine list, desert and service. Anthony’s is a hidden gem. Highly recommended!

This is a true French Bistro in a vast desert of dining options. I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed them before because I’ve dined here on many occasions. First, a great wine by the glass selection. A VERY adept bar staff mixing great martinis and manhattans. Second, an imaginative bistro menu. There are the usual suspects. Plus bacon wrapped pork loin w/apples and house made chorizo. I could have licked the plate! REAL steak au poivre! To the owners of Anthony’s: You are amazing. Keep your chef! He/She is amazing and dedicated to real food. You exist in a vast wasteland of shitty dining options. In short I would sell my soul for you! Keep my seat at the bar warm. I’ll see you tomorrow.

My husband and I went to Anthony’s for my birthday last night. And we were very pleased with the décor, staff and food! For apps I had the Tuna Carpaccio and my husband had the French Onion soup, both were excellent. The tuna was flavored perfectly and the soup was thick and rich, just like a REAL french onion soup should be! For dinner I had the Grilled Fillet of Salmon with Warm Lobster Salsa and it was wonderful, a bit strong but still very good, my salmon and lobster were cooked spot on which I really appreciate! My husband got the surf and turf, his filet was cooked exactly med-rare and his lobster wonderful like mine. Overall a very good experience for us both. Our server was attentive, refilled drinks and knew his menu. We will be going back again when we are in Plattsburgh next. And I would highly suggest you to check it out as well!

I’m a local gal from Plattsburgh and Anthony’s has always been the dinning location for my family when it’s someone’s birthday or a special occasion. It is a tad on the pricer side, but the food is always very good. I love the atmosphere in the bistro section, which also is a bit cheaper than the regular dinning room. The menu has an array of options, but to be honest I always get the«scallops and giant shrimp en buche» and It’s amazing!

Very nice dinner there last night. Comfortable bar with nice bartender. Had the Saltimbucca. Excellent! But the best desert — Pecan pie with home made ice cream.

My dining experience here was just okay at best. We stopped here for dinner on our drive up to Montréal from NYC because of the great reviews we saw on Unilocal. We had the following: Beef Carpaccio(appetizer) — bland and boring Grilled Housemade Sausage(appetizer) — adequate, and the best thing we had here Rack of Lamb(entrée) — subpar Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp & Sea Scallop Risotto(entrée) — a bit of a disappointment. The seafood was tender and thankfully not overcooked, but it did not taste great and smelled awful. The service was good, but I agree with another reviewer, «I would rather hoof it up to Montréal for those prices.»

First time here, although we had heard«best restaurant in Plattsburgh». Visiting from NY, this title could mean Anthonys is really good, or merely the best among the myriad of chain restaurants in town. Rest assured this is a terrific restaurant in ANY town! The ambience is terrific, the service was great and there were two main choices — 1) seating in the main dining area or the bistro(which had live entertainment; 2) ordering from the restaurant menu, with choices from fish, game, meat and vegeterian OR the bistro menu with pastas, sandwiches and salads. Accompanying the food is a deep and varied(by country and region) wine list, with reasonable pricing(skip over the two least expensive in each set, which are a bit overpriced). The lobster bisque soup with fresh sherry was terrific as was the pasta bolognese, with a rich and extra meaty sauce. I had a nice salad and the braised wild boar medallions in a tomato and merlot jus — this was Outstanding! So skip 99 and Uno and the rest and experience the best in Plattsburgh! Bön appetite!

We have relatives who live in Plattsburgh, and we’ve been to Anthony’s a few times over the past years. The dinners have always been enjoyable. This time I ordered the petite New York strip steak and had a chocolate mousse cake dessert. Both items were delicious. The green beans which came with the steak were especially well prepared. Normally I have coffee, but not tonight, so can’t comment on it. This is a welcoming restaurant with very good food.

This place is so good I wish the would move to Brooklyn. I plus is that I wont take the chance spending my weekly budget by it not being close. I haven’t eaten pork in years But did not regret eating the wild boar. The salmon was good also. You have to have the homemade icecream. The service was better Than anywhere I have eaten in years.
