Today was the day that this Waffle House went non-smoking. We counted ourselves lucky because we had stopped at the WH near the airport and it was smelling like an outhouse. So we moved on up the road to Platte City. The place was cleaner than most WH. I didn’t stick to the floor, the chair, the table, or the menu. Our server was very pleasant and we had our order taken promptly. Food was great. I love Waffle House food but all the venues needs a SERIOUS makeover. This location was a pleasant surprise.

It’s a permanent annoyance that they have a smoking section that wafts all around the place, but other than that and the slower than usual service, you’re still getting waffle house food. The waffle house five minutes south off the highway is better if you can make the drive. You might order coffee here a couple times just to remind them. Either way, as long as you can get that magnificent Chicken Biscuit and a side of grits, this isn’t your worst choice for food in Platte City. Even now that the Chicken Biscuit went from $ 3 up to $ 4, I’m too addicted to quit.

Basic Waffle House, Not as Good as some others and they actually smoke inside, Yuck!!! No signs to show smoking is allowed as I would not have eaten here at all!

Coming from Chicago, I was blissfully unaware of the stigma that surrounds Waffle House. I love waffles so to me waffles + 24 hours = GENIUS. However, I find that whenever I tell people that I actually eat here when SOBER, I get a lot of looks of pure befuddlement. As a chain, I love Waffle House. The waffles are fantastic and consistent. The eggs are greasy and delicious and it all takes about 5 –10 minutes to hit your placement. P. S. Try the new jalapeño biscuit. They are incredible! Now, the Platte City Waffle House is another beast. The service here is seriously hit or miss. Sometimes I have the NICEST people who call you ma’am and sir and then there have been times when we have walked out because no one was taking our order and the place isn’t even busy… but whatever, I mean, it is Waffle House. not Capital Grille. Now the absolute worst thing about this place is also that it allows smoking. If we walk in and people are smoking, we just turn around and head back out. The building is about the size of a locker room. If one person is smoking, the whole place knows it. At 2am, whatever. enjoy your smoke. but at breakfast? Seriously? I mean, I hate on the city for allowing it, but at 8am we just want eggs: go outside or go home,

Hey! It’s greasy, dirty, and smokey — everything you’d expect from a Waffle House. Not refined and delicious!

I can’t eat here! They allow smoking and the place is kinda nasty! The manager is not a nice guy, and as much as I love scattered covered and chunked, I go elsewhere!

This place is pretty much a dive. If that’s what you like then this is the place. Everything just felt dirty and sticky. Granted this is a waffle place so sticky is expected. Food was just okay. I was treated to a nice piece of hair in my eggs. But considering how small of a place they have to cook I could see why it got in there. I wasn’t going to stay anything. I just wiped the little black hair out. And considering I already felt dirty I was going to finish my food. But the waitress saw and asked if there was something wrong with my eggs. I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. But she saw me. So I told her and she brought me some new ones. It was a kind gesture. I then told my niece that I wonder if we will get our food for free because of it. Well I’ll let you all be the judge on what the ‘right’ thing that should of been done. Anyway, we paid the entire bill and we were on our way.

When planning my trip to MO this was the deciding factor as in where to book my hotel. It is eye shot of the hotel, what else does a WH fend need to fell at home away from home, if your ever at this one see if «super» is on the grill, he will whip you up something good and the entertainment is free…

Warning! They allow smoking here. Let me say right off, that I’m generally a Waffle House fan. Having lived in Georgia, and traveled all over the South for work, the WH sign is like a welcoming little beacon. Plus, occassionally, you just can’t beat a good, greasy breakfast. The waitresses in the Platte City WH are johnny-on-the-spot. The food is what you’d expect a Waffle House and since moving to town a few months ago, I’ve visited and enjoyed several weekend and early morning breakfasts. In the year 2012, I had no idea that any restaurant would even consider letting people smoke inside… and if they do, most folks are considerate enough to recognize that lighting up at a table, in close quarters while people are trying to eat is just flat out rude. Well, this Waffle House does have a «smoking section», which in a place as small as it is, means the whole building is a smoking section. Today some idiot decided it would be great to have a cigarette with his breakfast. I smelled him walk in behind me(the way chain smokers smell) and that was bad enough, but then he decided to light up. I didn’t even finish my breakfast because it was just so overwhelming and disgusting. Now I’ve arrived home to realize that even though I’d just taken a shower, my hair smells like an ashtray. Even though I’d just washed my coat, it smells like I spent all night in a smokey bar, and even though my clothes were clean when I went for breakfast, they all now reek as well. Gross, gross, gross. Horrible way to start a Sunday. There are places I go where I expect to encounter smoking and don’t usually complain about it. However, breakfast on Sunday morning is not one of those places and sadly, I probably won’t be returning to the PC Waffle House.

Lotsa food for a great price! Crispy hashbrowns with lots of add in options, I got mine smothered(onions) and peppered(Jalapenos). Waffle was just a little better than an Eggo, nothing special. The bun on my burger was on the stale side, but it was a pretty good burger. Laura was a friendly waitress.
