Plantation Colony Apartments

I absolutely love living here. The staff are always prompt in assisting our needs. Beautiful grounds with updated units. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. I’m glad I choose to live here. The apartments is very close to the highway and all the major stores. I would recommend families and students living here since it’s very close to Nova Southeastern University

I have lived at Plantation Colony for almost a year now. My apartment is spacious and the appliances all work really well. The office staff is friendly and understanding. Anytime we have a maintenance issue, the issue is fixed within 24 hours. Our AC went out on the weekend and someone was there two fix it within two hours. The only issue I have had is with ants occasionally coming in to the apartment, but again, someone always comes to spray quickly. The grounds are well kept and the pool area is clean. It can be difficult sometimes to find parking right next to my apartment, but it is never a long walk. I would definitely recommend Plantation Colony to any of my family or friends!

My husband and I moved into this complex last year and we couldn’t be more happier with this decision. It’s a very safe area and complex. If we need anything to be worked on the work order is put in that day and the on site engineer comes to look and fix the problem right away! The leasing office staff are so professional and friendly. We love it here and just renewed our lease.

Overall a good experience in the year (2012 – 2013) that I spent here. Maintenance always came right away and they were really nice about fixing things. Didn’t get unfair charges when I moved out. Lived on a third floor unit so I had high ceilings and NEVER heard a peep from my neighbors (except sometimes the young kids playing at the tennis court). Landscaping was always done. You have to park a little far from your building if you get home late, but I never felt like I wasn’t safe. Management isn’t nosy and doesn’t bother you like most places. Probably one of the best apartment places I’ve ever stayed at. I’d recommend it!

Lived at Plantation Colony between December 2011 and February 2013. The grounds and apartment themselves are nice, no complaints there. However, the placement of the air conditioning unit right above the water heater is dangerous and flawed. One night water dripping down from the A/​C into the electric component of the heater caused a fire in our apartment. I was able to put out the fire with an extinguisher, but had to call in the fire department because of all the smoke throughout the apartment, and because we were not certain it was safe. One of the maintenance men came in and says this happens all the time. They just «fixed» the problem by applying some electrical tape to the water heater.
This is not my only complaint. After moving out I was charged close to $ 800 for them to replace the carpet, which they claim was brand new when I moved in. The carpet couldn’t have been new — it did not look or feel new, and when doing pushups on the floor, it already smelled, which we noticed this right after we moving in. I did not think to complain about it at the time — a big mistake. Later, the technician who installed our cable TV/​internet, while hiding cables, also commented that the carpet was old had not been changed in a long time. This didn’t bother me at the time.
They claim that the carpet was soiled because of our dog. I can’t really refute that, but it does bother me that they are claiming the carpet was brand new when we moved in, when it most certainly was not. I don’t mind paying for damage we may have caused but do not appreciate that they are claiming the carpet was brand new when it was not.
In summary, my opinion of the place is that it is a nice complex to live at but unsafe because of the A/​C and water heater placement, and that the staff will lie in order to squeeze money out of you after moving out. These two negatives trump the good.
