Trower Heating & Air Conditioning

Mr. Trower has serviced our heat/​AC and my mom’s heat/​AC for many years. Several years ago when we were in a rent house, he came over to light the pilot and found that our heat exchanger was cracked. He saved our lives, as we would have been breathing carbon monoxide had that thing been running! He knows his stuff. We’ve used his company and been completely satisfied. Highly recommended.

I’ve used Bob Trower for some time for A/​C and heating repair. Overall he was OK — neither horrible nor exceptional. Last time though he spent several hours looking for a problem that I felt should have been found much quicker. I paid the amount he asked for but expressed disappointment that he wouldn’t provide any service warranty whatsoever. Today, I called him again for an A/​C repair. He fixed it OK, but charged me an extra $ 50/​lb for 2.5 lbs of freon, which I hadn’t asked for and he didn’t get approval for prior to doing the work (I was present). I thought that units were cooling off just fine and probably would not have agreed to it. I asked him to reduce the price for that reason and he refused. He also charged me $ 85 for a capacitor. I looked up RETAIL costs for the freon $ 12/​lb and $ 22 for the capacitor, so his markup was over 400%! Not happy with his ethics and won’t be calling him again.
