Took a trip to Smoke. I order the Coffee Cured Natural Beef Brisket on recommendation of the server. Fairly decent BBQ. I say that because I’m a fan of the notion that the meat should stand on its own and sauces aren’t required. The meat was very tender and fell apart when I touched it with the fork. But it couldn’t stand on its own without the sauces. Server said the sauces were homemade and they were very fresh. A very spicy and liquidy Carolina, a mustard horseradish base, a tomatillo base, and the other one escapes me. The forth wasn’t bad, but I found the other three better. The side potato salad was German style and quite tasty. Service was stellar, but I was 1 of perhaps 5 people in the restaurant. I’d go back if some friends wanted to go, but probably won’t seek it out.

Amazing!!! Bloody mary is a little too spicy but seriously that is the only compliant I have. I have had the brisket the past two times I was here and oh dear lord perfection!!! Staff is great and friendly I can never finish my meal and always leave stuffed! Highly recommend!!!

I can’t say anything but good about Smoke. Both of my visits here yielded good service and tasty food. Tonight our party of 5 adults and 2 elem-schoolers was served with the utmost courtesy, patience, competence, and demeanor. We ordered a couple of appetizers, the best of which was the Fried Pimento Cheese. The brisket and French fried potato ends have been good both times I eaten it. The fire grilled oysters were tasty but a bit small. For entrees we had the huge family platter, the gumbo, the burger, and the brisket salad. I came home with two packed boxes of leftovers. Kudos to our waiter Damian with whom we shared some of the Mardi Gras King Cake we brought in with us.

We came in on a Friday night, it was not busy at all. I expected an hour wait like we usually find at all Plano eateries. Smoke did a great job of transforming Snuffers into an upscale BBQ Joint. The atmosphere is Homestead-Chic. The tables were covered with white table clothes and then topped with butcher paper. We had the most soft spoken server. I am a teacher and can hear a pin drop from across the room and I could not understand our sever at all. It wasn’t busy nor loud, but she was speaking barely above a whisper. They have an extensive beer menu, but no Shiner Bock. What? A BBQ joint with no Shiner! That was a little off putting for my hubby. I had a nice glass of Malbec. We started off with the Burnt Ends Fries. The fries were stale :(but the burnt ends were very tender, moist, and flavorful. It would have tasted tons better on fresh fries. There was also a tasty pickles relish of onions and tomatoes on top. That was super yummy also. After reading the menu I was a little disappointed that there weren’t any sides. I like to order my BBQ and pick my sides. I didn’t like that the sides were predetermined. We asked our server if we could switch it out and she said no. So I had the Shrimp and romain salad. The salad was drenched in dressing. If you are going to get a salad get the dressing in the side. It also only had 4 pieces of shrimp. Now here’s the weird part we couldn’t sub side items but the hubby could make his own entrée. He wanted a brisket sandwich which wasn’t on the menu with a side of Mac n cheese. The brisket sandwich was the best part of the meal. It was piled high with brisket meat. The Mac n cheese was flavorless.

I had read about the sketchy inconsistent service here, so I was bit apprehensive, but the idea of missing out on a good brunch couldn’t keep me away. When we pulled up around 1pm on a Sunday, there were a few parties standing outside or in the doorway waiting for a table. The hostess told us it would be 20 minutes for us. As we sat there waiting we saw a bunch of open tables. There was even one for 2 out on the patio, so we asked if it was open seating out there. She said it wasn’t. And about 5 minutes later, we were shown to that table. Weird. Our waiter(which we later learned was on his first day off training) had the whole patio to himself, which was 5 tables. Two tables sat with dirty plates after the patrons had left for a good little bit before the hostess came to help clean it up. Our waiter was nice, but we could tell he might have been a tad overwhelmed. And at just about the time we would wonder where our drinks and food were, they would come out. I ordered a Rosemary’s Baby which had a good little kick to it. And then a Lipstick & Rouge which was also good. For the eatings, I got the pulled pork eggs benedict with potato cakes. Delish! I enjoyed it! The bf got the cornbread hash which I didn’t like because of the overwhelming barbeque sauce taste. I’ll probably go here again since it’s close to my place, and hopefully I never encounter the bad service other Unilocalers have talked about.

Well, that was disappointing. Where do I begin? I’m not sure as to the quality of the burger since the medium burger I ordered was cooked past well and included items I specifically asked to be left off. My wife’s turkey sandwich was actually brisket. Our appetizer came with the meal and was warm at best. The bartender was short staffed so he gets a pass, kind of. The bar was a mess, cluttered. It’s a shame Tim Byres’ name is attached to this potentially cool spot in suburbia.

I went there with high expectations because of ownership and of the pictures I had seen on social media. Even though the food was good, it was not a place I would want to go back to. The portion for the Apricot Ricotta Pancakes was literally 2 small hotcakes with a couple of pieces of apricot, cream, and blueberries. It was not a good value for the price. We had brunch at Pink Magnolia last week and the portions there were huge at comparable prices. The ambiance was great, service was good, but the food we had was just not up to par with other restaurants, like The Theordore or Hickory in Plano.

Smoke is my new favorite obsession! I had no complaints. To start off, the service was great. While we were waiting at our table for the rest of our party to arrive, the sweet manager brought us some pulled pork cheese fries to munch on. They were delicious! Our waiter was very attentive and polite. The food took a little while to come out, but I think this is just one of those restaurants — they want to keep you for a while! I absolutely loved the decorations. Our party of 8 was seated at a huge beautiful glass table. THEFOOD: *If you’re a big tomato fan, get the heirloom tomato salad(to share) as an appetizer. *The scallop dish was amazing. 5 stars! I will be back to order it. The three scallops were served over a fatty bean, Brussels sprouts(if you’re not a fan, you will be after this dish) and pork jowl mixture. The sauce on this dish was creamy and amazing. It was surprisingly filling for a scallop dish! *The New York Strip was the best steak I’ve had in Texas(I’m used to authentic Omaha steaks). I really enjoyed this — cooked rare/medium rare. *My friends really enjoyed the chicken entrée. *They also loved the ribs! They were huge. DESSERT(Worthy enough to have its own category): Well, we tried one of everything. *Key Lime Pie: One of the best I’ve ever had. Beautiful display! *Chocolate Dessert & Ice Cream(I forget what they called it): Delicious! The perfect dessert for chocolate lovers — or even just likers. *PB&J Pie: My favorite! If you are a PB&J fan or even just a little bit of a peanut butter fan, I think you will really enjoy this. I loved it. The look of it tricks you into thinking you’re about to take a bite of peanut butter overload, but it is balanced so well. The peanut butter section is a light brown mouse with just the perfect hint of peanut butter. The jelly on top is delicious — the type of jelly you want on your PB&J sandwich. And the crust is unexplainable. I will be back for this pie — and I’m not even a pie fan! Thank you Smoke for a great experience!

Went to Smoke for the first time today. We were lucky enough to have been there for their brunch. Our waitress Melissa was friendly and fun and playful and awesome. Every piece of our meal felt painstakingly well thought out and prepared. I tend to get eggs Benedict when I try out a brunch restaurant and this was one of the best. The eggs was poached perfectly as was everything else prepared. We also ordered a side if their signature bacon as well as grits. And don’t get me going about the best bloody Mary I have ever had. I would highly recommend and if you don’t enjoy this place get to a doctor. Because your taste buds are effing broken.

Food here is amazing. I got the Brisket Cornbread Hash and it was delicious. Great atmosphere. We came in at 1pm so I can’t comment on service time since there wasn’t as much people at this time.

We came here on a Sunday around noon for brunch. Total bust for us. Service was very slow. I ordered a Bloody Mary with a side of limes, and my friend ordered a spicy Bloody Mary. We had given our food/drink orders all at once since it took the server a while just to greet us. Someone else dropped off or bar drinks. No limes. No biggie, but the server never came back. The Bloody Mary is ok. If you aren’t a fan of bbq it’s not for you. My friend could not stomach it. The food came and it was meh. We both ordered the omelet and salad. The server finally came back by but it was solely to drop our checks. I’m in the industry and understand people get busy. He walked past us several times and didn’t check on us once. It’s safe to say 30 $ brunch that was not great with bad service… We won’t be back.

Total disappointment, From the time we called to reserve, for 7 ppl in our party they seemed to have a problem to reserve but they did. When we arrived at 4 pm, the place was empty and we were the only party in . We ordered some appetizers and entrees ‚ Appetizers were ok, food took way longer than than normal. But the food arrived and my son(12 year old) to notice the brisket was cold. After tasting my beef rib, was cold as well. Food was mediocre, service was good, manager was apologetic for all but still. Our meal was ruined and will not go back again that’s for sure . Way overrated, a bbq or smoke house has to serve their food hot. Not just warm or cold.

What a great brunch in Plano! My wife and I had a kid-free Sunday in Plano so we scouted some brunch spots in my parent’s neighborhood. We know the menu at Breadwinners(and the long waits) too well. While we like Whiskey Cake for dinner, the brunch menu seemed rather limited. And the options at Lyfe(quinoa pancakes?) seemed a little too healthy. So we opted for Smoke. Boy, did we enjoy it! Clean plates all around. Given how much we enjoyed Smoke, we were surprised to see it only half full at 10:30/10:45am on a Sunday. No complaints, though, because we were seated right away. Our server(David) was great and I can see why so many other reviews compliment the service here. He was top notch. The drink special for brunch is a $ 4 mimosa that comes with a healthy pour in a white wine glass. The food was just phenomenal, though. My wife had the blueberry pancakes made with ricotta cheese($ 12) and she loved it. I was looking to have something«BBQ» for breakfast so the waiter recommended the Pulled Whole Hog Eggs Benedict($ 14) or the Smoked Brisket Cornbread Hash($ 15). I went with the eggs benedict and it was a simple dish(english muffin + brisket + poached egg) but it really tasted great when the runny egg yolk mixed with the brisket. Wow! I was really glad to have a breakfast dish(eggs) and some of the smoked meat that Smoke is known to do so well. We also had a side of the thick cut pork belly bacon($ 5) which includes two very thick cuts of bacon and was good enough to share for two people. You might even split it with 4 people because the bacon pieces are very hearty. After years(literally) of waiting in a morning line at Breadwinners in West Plano, I was pleasantly surprised to get out of our brunch rut and try a new spot. We will definitely be back — and soon — and bringing more family with us!

Not as cool as the original location but cooler than anything else in Plano. Outstanding lunch options for $ 12 including drink. Top notch food, drinks and service.

5 Star house made Bacon served with a 5 Star Brunch of 5 Star Eggs Benedict atop 5 Star Brisket, followed by 5 Star Pulled Pork sammiches and 5 Star Crispy Skin Chicken served over buttery potato purée and tender carrots in a pretty awesome casually chic environment with a lovely open kitchen in a restaurant with a James Beard cookbook — sounds like it should get a 5 star review. Smoke just is still having some growing pains. Minor growing pains. My first visit there was sort of a knight in shining armor moment when we were in line at Breadwinners for brunch with an out of town guest — Breadwinneres wouldn’t put us on the list because we didn’t have a party of six, it was a madhouse because people in Dallas love their signature hotspots regardless of actual quality(*cough* Mi Concina *cough*)… My guest paid for a $ 10.00 single mimosa to a haughty and frazzled bartender while we stood for our 45 minute wait, and as her look of disappointment grew, I started making a backup plan. I called Smoke, ended up on the phone with the manager who took down our names and 8 minutes later we were seated on their patio with a drink menu in hand. Their brunch menu actually includes brunch prices on drinks, which was appreciated. At that first visit, we were catered to carefully, checked on by management and enjoyed beautiful patio weather and a lovely brunch… The service that time was the downfall. It was incredibly too slow, from drinks being served to food being served, to being checked on, to getting the check. Everything took about 10 minute too long which dragged the meal out too much. The second visit we were served perfectly and our meals were perfect; could not complain there. The third visit I had the oysters and was very sad to find they hadn’t been cleaned properly. But then I think their sweet tea is the best I’ve ever had and my server and the manager took care of the issue with great attention. Couldn’t have asked for a better response. The 5th star will join when I actually get to enjoy their craft cocktails and have another visit like the second — where food and service are perfect in unison like I know they can be. What’s clear about Smoke is that they care, they want your business, they want to do a good job… and they already have the food and menu to blow you away. They already win me over for brunch in lieu of Breadwinners any day. I just wish they’d add chicken & waffles to the menu!

I have been here for dinner twice and enjoyed it both times. The first time we ordered the BBQ Board for 4 people and it was perfect! I remember being super impressed by the bacon. It was thick, crispy but not too much and full of flavor! I would suggest ordering another side item or 2 with it as well, it is mostly meat. We also shared a couple appetizers, which were small. The drinks are really good. The bartender made me a delicious fresh and spicy margarita. The service is fantastic. They are always very informative, suggestive and attentive. I hate to say it but I can’t recall what we ordered the second time around… It’s not your average Dickey’s so of course it is pricier. The outside and interior establishment is adorable and I love the patio. I noticed they finally announced a happy hour, so I need to go back and try that out and I am itchin’ to try their brunch! The atmosphere gives the feeling of being in a modern country house kitchen. Love it. Location doesn’t give you much to look at, but Katy Trail is around the corner and that is the perfect spot to grab a nightcap.

Came with the fam for my mom and sister’s September birthdays. The presentation, décor and especially service was incredibly top-notch. I left work in a hustle Friday night to grab a table for seven. The host set me up in short order and even gave me a cocktail menu to order a drink in time for happy hour, ending just as the rest of my party would arrive. So thoughtful! Our party turned out to be just four and our waiter helped us move to a smaller table without any issues, which was appreciated. We shared the pimento cheese croquettes, paired with grilled romaine, which was creamy, crispy and savory. I had the BBQ Spare Ribs with Mac and Cheese, and while tasty with a bit of sweetness, the ribs were on par with Pecan Lodge, which can sometimes be a little overrated, frankly. My dad tried the special, braised rabbit leg which was spectacular. It was moist and flavorful without being too lean or game-y. Ultimately the food wasn’t enough to launch this review to five stars but I’d definitely come back to give it another try.

Came here for lunch. Had Chopped Coffee Cured Beef Brisket with Bread & Butter Pickles. DELICIOUS! LOVEDIT! My mouth’s watering as I talk about it! The second visit was for dinner, during restaurant week. Arugula salad, fresh but slightly salty. BBQ board for two, awesomely smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey(prob my least fav) and picked vegetables. There’s probably more in the sampler but I just can’t remember what! Friend had the key lime pie, not what she was expecting. It wasn’t really«chilled» and almost too warm? I don’t know if that makes sense. Crust was good though. I had the chocolate ice cream, it was good. nothing spectacular. Love the deco inside. It’s rustic and homey. Very 1970s-1990s, take you back home nostalgic kinda feel. Love the sun roof they have. LOVELOVELOVE the patio they have! Can’t wait to come back for an experience on the patio!

I never expected to give 5 stars but I cannot tell a lie. I usually require bottomless mimosas and a buffet from a 5-star brunch but for Smoke, I’ve made an exception. First of all, the atmosphere was gorgeous! Not what I expected from a place called smoke. It looked like class, sunshine, and magazine covers. I tried to take pictures but the sun rays were too beautiful to capture. Smoke had the kind of beauty that led me to believe she couldn’t cook. Well, she’s not just a pretty face let me tell you! I ordered the omelet. I ordered it because it included 4 mix-ins and the mix-ins sounded so good, it was hard to choose.(Did I just make up the word mix-ins for Smoke?) I decided on Goat cheese, tomatoes, collards, and BBQ brisket. Still, I just couldn’t bare to mix my collards and brisket with eggs though I’m sure it would have been delicious. Instead, I asked for my omelet with goat cheese and tomatoes and I asked for the brisket and collards on the side. I’m glad I did. It was PERFECT. I am not a person who goes to a restaurant and orders soul food but those collards have me wanting to drive up there right now to see if they’ll hand me a to-go order through a window! I stopped talking and savored every bite of that omelet and the brisket and the collards. I woke up this morning fantasizing about having it again and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get it. My girls and I enjoyed brunch here. However, I would recommend this place when you’re showing off a little to out-of-town guests or your mom. Hit ‘em with, «Oh, this old thing?» and bask in their admiration.
