Everywhere I go, I always try to search authentic, tasty cuisine of the world. I found an article about this Bakery, as I was searching for Authentic«Iraqi» cuisine in the Dallas, TX area. After reading the article, I started to search Unilocal and saw the 2 nicely written reviews about Sherwani Bakery. Now, i simply would like to add my two cents in as well. The owner, Salah Hassan, is a brilliant man, someone who actually appreciates the art of food, a true baker who loves his job and people. It is hard to find such people now a days, who take great pride in there work and share there gift of cooking with us, the public. Mr. Hassan is a master chef, when it comes down to baking Authentic Iraqi baking goods, that has been passed on from generation prior in there bakery that was located in Iraq. They do have traditional Iraqi Bread: Samoon(condensed bread, perfect for sandwiches), Tanor Bread, resembles the Indian naan, minus the grease and added flavors. Aside from Traditional Iraqi brad, he also makes a variety of Traditional Iraqi pastries. I would have to say, I had the luxury to try one of his pastries, znood el sett, and I was quite impressed. The food that you do get at this bakery, is the same as you get in Iraq. I also learned, but did not try it yet, he is making a traditional Iraqi breakfast pastry called: Kahi. Basically, it is: backed layers of phyllo dough, topped off with a condense thick cream spread and finally drizzled by a simple syrup. All that is home made. So, if your looking to have great bread, trying new things or simply looking for traditional iraqi bakery and desserts, you must go to: Sherwani Bakery. If your looking for something special, I suggest calling ahead and see if Mr. Hassan can arrange to make it for you.(As I was asking him about some iraqi baked goods, he told me that he can make it all). I can not wait to come back to the Dallas area and go there again. Please do « Unilocal» Sherwani Bakery and try to add some pictures of the food, as I am about to do. Hope my review has helped.
