We loved our visit to this charming little museum! We came on a sunny Saturday afternoon and we were immediately greeted by a very friendly docent, who offered to give us a tour of the place. He started with the train car located outside, which was a great trip to the past. We got to see how back of the car was reserved for the post office, and how segregation affected the set-up of the train car. It was so great to walk through that old car while listening to the guide tell us all about its history of traveling all around the DFW area(even down into Waco!) After the tour of the train car, we went back into the museum to explore. It was a wealth of information, with plenty of awesome hands-on exhibits that are great for kids and adults alike. You can see how electricity for the trains is created, learn all about it first hand! My boyfriend said he actually found this little museum more interesting and informative than the Perot! On our way out, we left $ 5 in the donation jar, even though the museum is free. There’s a $ 2 suggested donation per person, but they don’t demand it at all. We simply felt that, after we spent so long there enjoying ourselves, we wanted to contribute!

This museum is an interesting counter-point to the DART station next door. We had interurban transportation as far north as Sherman(the old rail line was close to home) and then we got rid of it.

We stumbled across this place today, and 90 minutes later my wife had to drag me and our 10– and 12-year-old sons out of there. The exhibits are fun(lots of electric circuits to build and arcs to zap) plus there’s something cool about having an 80-year-old docent tell you about the old days. Free admission, but worth a generous donation to the very good cause.

Nice little museum about Plano’s historic trainstation. Inside the museum(old ticket station), you’ll see how the train helped the early settlers of Plano. Outside, you get to climb aboard the old surviving car, and take a tour. The museum is located in historic Haggard Park.

Nice way to spend an hour or so with kids if you are in the area. There is a lot to learn about the history of Plano and the Interurbans. Suggested donation is $ 2 for adults and $ 1 for kids. The folks are all really nice and toured my 2 boys as if they were a full field trip. There is a park next to it, and parking is free.
