For Sichuan food in Dallas, this is as good as it gets. It can compare with my most favorite Sichuan Folks(巴蜀人家) at Parker Road(next to Plano H-Mart). Since this is my first time here, I tried 3 basic dishes. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce(魚香茄子) had too much sugar, otherwise, it and the other 2 dishes(麻婆豆腐,西紅柿炒蛋) passed my «taste test» for their authenticity. As in most other places outside China, one can hardly get good peppercorn which adds the prickly sensation to Sichuan food. This restaurant is no exception. But that is the fault of the supply chain not the kitchen. I will definitely come back.

like all the dishes ordered. Good spicy foods. But the waitresses are not patient enough. Maybe they are too busy.

Not much on atmosphere but the food was fantastic. I tried three dishes, garlic fish, shredded potato and hot and sour cabbage… all of them delish and the flavors will knock your socks off.

The plates and silverware we had were really dirty. I’m not sure how this place passes the health inspections. Will never visit again.

Went there with friends on Memorial Day. It was packed. The food is traditional Szechuan. The menu does not list any Americanized Chinese dishes. We played it safe by ordering items with ingredients we easily recognized — shrimp, lamb, chicken, cabbage. We were not disappointed. Everything was 5 star delicious and the servings were large enough for us all to pack the take out cartons.

Came here with 2 other people and we ordered 3 dishes: stir fry beancurd, kung pao chicken, and noodles with veggie broth. Received our dishes promptly, service was good but only complaint was that no one refilled my water despite it being very low. The servers came by our table many times so maybe they weren’t paying attention? Other than that, it seems like a good place to grab some family style dishes.

Not bad, not great either. Just a-ok. We ordered several dishes, but none really stood out to where I’d want to come back. The boiled fish is spicy, but it’s the numbing spicy kind I don’t like. Other places serve this same dish, but the spice is slightly different and better in my mind. The mapo tofu is one of my favorite dishes, but I’ve had much better at other restaurants. The eggplant dish was the best out of the bunch. It was a plate full of big slices of eggplant in a spicy brown sauce, which goes really well with a bowl of rice. There were two other dishes we ordered, but I don’t remember what they were. With so many chinese restaurants in this area, I doubt I’ll be back at Fish House.

Had the spicy fried fish and the pea shoots with garlic. The fish was crispy outside but perfectly moist inside. The pea shoots were awesome: clean, fresh and the right amount of garlic. Definitely worth a visit.

We randomly picked this place because I was in the area, and was craving spicy Sichuan style fish which was what I got along with the house special noodles and spicy chili wonton appetizer. The food was too greasy which usually doesn’t bother me if the have good flavors to contribute to it. Unfortunately, that’s all I could taste was just the oil and that went the same with the spicy wonton also. The noodle was not as bland but still wasn’t quite there with what I want.

This is my first review on Unilocal. My experience at this restaurant was not the best and I was torn on sharing my thoughts but it was really that bad… I came with my sister, wife and baby. 1. We had to initiate finding a seat after the staff looked at us and ignored us(it was not busy at the time we arrived, thumbs down) 2. Seated and were asked what we would like to drink(thumbs up) 3. After several minutes had to initiate ordering food, again ignored several times(thumbs down) 4. Ordering was straight forward, we eat Sichuan all the time(neutral thumbs) 5. Food started coming out(timing was good) but no rice till we requested(thumbs down). Rice is a staple at Sichuan/Asian restaurants, usually comes with the dish. 6. Every dish we ordered was really salty except the Cumin Lamb(thumbs down, we ordered fried Sichuan Spicy Chicken, Spicy Fish, Sprouts sautéed in garlic, Pig Ear, Thin sliced Beef, and Ma Pu Tofu also). These are all standard Sichuan dishes. 7. Rice and water were never refilled(thumbs down), we didn’t bother asking at this point. 8. After finishing, no one came by to provide the check. Once again ignored till I asked(thumbs down) 9. As I was paying the owner and 2 waiters watched to see if I tipped(thumbs down, I contemplated not tipping anything tbh, I gave 5%). 10. No «thank, you» or «goodbye» as we prepared to leave… Whispering and disappointed faces reviewing my receipt as we walked out(thumbs down). Food Critique: the food was an honest 2.5 stars. Th 1 star rating is for the service. If you want better tasting Sichuan food, walk next door to Sichuan Cuisine. The food is much tastier and service is decent. I really hope I am the only negative review and that my experience was a rare one. Just wanted to give honest feedback.

Right. Is actually a Szechuan style restaurant! Still figure out why they choose to name their restaurant Fish house! Probably they are trying to show that they do have great seafood dishes. But they name it 私房菜in Chinese which mean«private delicacy» or something like that. Is just my 3rd visit with the big group of church buddy and as always we got to order many different dishes to sample!!! Seem like all their dishes are among the best in dallas area! Strongly recommended! You won’t be disappointed!

No star deserved! Went in for lunch. Was ignored. Waitress waited on everyone around me, but would not check on me. Couldnt even get refill on my water. Felt like I was intentionally being ignored. Food was good but will never return!

I’ve been dying to check out this place but my fiancé hates fish. I assured him that there was bound to be a non-fish something that he could order. Didn’t work. I snuck up here on a Sunday with just the kiddos and had a feast. Omg! Talk about super fast service. We ordered about 4 – 5 dishes and they all came out in 15 minutes — 1 dish at a time. Oh, on top of super fast service, there is no service once you have your food. That is, no one will come back to your table to ask if you need anything else. lol The restaurant was not busy. Every dish came out piping hot, the way it should be, but for the Ma Po Tofu. Ma Po Tofu was really good. Just not hot. It tasted way better when I heated it up the next day for lunch. The Spicy Fried Fish was super hot — both in temperature and taste. There is also some sort of herb that I cannot pinpoint, but it literally numbs your mouth(Kinda like the herb Mongolian Sheep puts in their broth). Anyway, fish was great at first until I couldn’t feel my mouth anymore. Again, this wasn’t from the peppers, it was the herb thing. I looked over at my neighbor’s table and saw what looked like grass, but a thick version. I asked the server what it was and she said bean sprouts. I know what bean sprouts are. They were not bean sprouts. They weren’t even green. In any event, I ordered the grass dish and was happy that I did. It was sauteed in lots of garlic and oil. This grass dish has the same color, texture and taste of snow pea tips but doesn’t look anything like snow pea tips. Finally, we also ordered the Beef and Green Onions. It’s similar to Mongolian beef. The meat color is not as dark. The color is more of a natural cooked meat color. The taste was flavorful. Beef was super tender. Way more white onions than green. Maybe they should have called it Beef and Onions? My verdict — definitely coming back to try their whole fish :) Oh, its BYOB.

Fish in spicy soup was really delicious. The fish was very tender and spicy. The cuisine was Szechuan style, so the spicy taste was very unique. The sauce, or rather the soup, went really well with steamed rice. If you like authentic spicy Chinese food, you won’t be disappointed. I was also impressed with how quickly the food came to the table, almost like minutes after we ordered. Probably we ordered the typical dishes.(The other dish we ordered was just stir-fry vegetable.) Overall, we enjoyed the food. As to service, just very typical Chinese style service: «Enjoy your food and we won’t bother you.»

They’re supposed to sell Chongqing cuisine. I asked the waiter to recommend some Chongqing dishes but it taste like Sichuanese to me. And it not even good Sichuanese food. Their tea flavored meat was just bacon stir fried with leeks. Avoid that. They didn’t clean the kidneys well so it still had that urinary tract taste. The lamb stir fry was average. The fish was the only decent thing. Won’t RTE.

Newly opened Sichuanese place in the 99 Ranch shopping center. Mom and I went to have a late lunch and try it out. It’s hard to have a family style meal when you only have two people because you won’t be able to try out as many different types of dishes. No lunch special for us! We went straight to the formal menu. Most dishes are over $ 10 but the portions are big and, like most Sichuanese restaurants, heavily seasoned, so you’ll probably have leftovers. In the end, we settled for the fish hotpot and cumin lamb(the former’s price is market price). There is also a «deli» area next to the main counter with a lot of cold cut appetizer/side dishes(peanuts, marinated beef tendons, pig ears, etc) that you can go up to and pick from. I think it was pick three for around $ 6.95, so we went with that as well. The cumin lamb was salty and pungent, passably tender and tossed with a lot of jalapeño pieces for a kick. Be careful to not end up swallowing some seeds otherwise you’ll be gulping down that water! Now, the fish hotpot. Moment of truth.(I mean, this place is called ‘fish house’ right??) The server comes and puts a giant steel pot in front of us with fish pieces, buckwheat noodles, bean sprouts, and enoki mushrooms all stewing in red liquid. Looks spicy and delicious, so we try a bite and it’s not bad, but for the wrong reasons. Whoa, whoa whoa whoa. Fish scales? Really??! That is not acceptable in my book. You can’t even clean a fish properly and you’re calling yourself ‘Fish House’. That’s kind of disappointing, not gonna lie. Plus, I feel like the fish was barely done. All the accompanying ingredients had soaked up the numbing spicy broth but the fish, supposedly the star of the dish, was lacking. So in that aspect I was disappointed by this place. I don’t know if it’s because we ordered the wrong dishes, but Fish House did not impress me that much. If you’re craving Sichuan, go for Royal Sezhuan or Sichuan King in Richardson Chinatown, I think you’ll be more impressed there.

Their cold appetizers(凉拌小菜) are their best dishes. I especially like the chicken feet and duck necks. Very authentic. If you don’t like these, they have other stuff so don’t give up on them just yet. The rest of their food can be hit or miss. Some of their dishes are full of spices and numbing while others just have too much oil. Their fish are tender enough and are usually pretty good. Apart from their appetizers, I really like their 酸菜肥肠. Their service is decent. They have plenty of waiters/waitresses. Sometimes they don’t refill my drink. They are very busy during lunch and dinner. I’ve seen a line once or twice. I’m not sure if they have a sign up anywhere but they do take credit card IF your total is more than $ 10 or $ 15. I learned about this from experience. My order was $ 7.50 and, at first they refused to accept card but since I didn’t have cash and they had already prepared the dish, they reluctantly made an exception.
