El Queso-Fresh Mexican Grill

We have been by here many times. We finally tried this place. We were not impressed at all. The burrito was more rice and beans than anything else. It was very big, but pretty much tasteless. The crispy tacos were stale and that is all you get (no sides) for the same price of tacos and sides at most set down restaurants. We will pass on this place in the future.

This is one of my absolute favorite taco places. The food is so fresh and has a really cool spin on tacos. They have the best shrimp and fish tacos I’ve ever had (Way better than any nice Mexican food restaurants or street vendors) and for a very cheap price! I wish this place would open more locations — I’m only able to eat there on Sunday’s usually when I’m coming back home from church in Southlake.

This is one of those restaurants that has its own unique refreshing twist of tex mex. If you get tired of the same old Chipotle flavors, give this hole in the wall a try. I like how their grilled chicken doesn’t taste burnt and they don’t skimp you on the meat. Their guac is only $ 0.99 extra and they have included options such as queso and fresh cilantro. Their rice is never undercooked. I also like how it’s less salty since I don’t have to drink so much water from all that bloat afterwards (yes, chipotle is high in sodium in case you didn’t know). They don’t serve pork, but instead they have ground beef, fish, and shrimp. Give this place a chance and support the small businesses!

Love the tacos here. This place is a kind of a Chipotle knock off and it is delicious! It’s set up the same way, where you wait in line and tell them what you want as they make it in front of you. One burrito is pretty big and will fill you up. I had the taco plate with a mix of beef and chicken and they were amazing! The place is a little tight and it gets crowded during lunch, but don’t let that keep you away. The people were very nice and I will come back when I am in the area.

Had couple of bad experiences
1. Had big back to school special advertisement on front door. Ordered the advertised item but cashier told me I’d have to be a student to get the special and charged me regular price.
2. Got very small portions. Asked to pay $ 8.50 for about 6 OZ of food.
I haven’t gone back and do not intend to

Very odd. Got my order with no lettuce tomatoes or any toppings for tacos? Not sure how a taco could be a taco without any veggies on top.

After two visits, can say this was a great find. The food is fresh, delicious, and I like the concept of building your own order. Looks clean overall, and the price is right. Would recommend!

Just started working in this area and dropped in after running some errands.
Place was pretty empty around 11:15.
It smelled strongly of charred something when I walked in, however. This made me nervous.
Was easy to order, very similar to Chipotle — although the prices are a bit high.
I got the steak burrito bowl with rice. It was allright. I wouldn’t say it was amazing, but I wouldn’t say it was horrible. Got the job done. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but it is nice to know it is there in a pinch if I am rushed and just need something simple.

When you walk in look at the ceiling right above the food. I am so pissed I didn’t notice until we had finished eating. They need to deep clean this place.

This place is great. I had the best quesadillas. It was a Wednesday night and we had the place to ourselves. NO wait time.

Outstanding fish (Salmon) salad at a very reasonable price. We’ll be coming here again.

Its our1st time. Wen v entered and ordered no one was der. V wre alone for about 10 mins. Me n my husband wre surprised and juz talking y no one s here. At tat time d door opened, v wre like ufff. After tat moment many came .V smiled :). V had burritos and nachos. V really loved it. And its worth for the money v paid :)

Normally I love El Queso. It’s cheap and delicious. But they changed, which honestly sucks. The last time I went in, just everything went wrong. I wanted to get a quesadilla with fajita vegetables, which the woman behind the counter informed me they no longer had, which really sucked because there’s really not a lot that a vegetarian like me wants to put on a quesadilla besides veggies. So I accepted it and just put corn salsa on it.
As I was checking out, the cashier asked me if I wanted a drink, which seemed really strange to me because El Queso normally gives out free drinks with every meal. I went to get some Sprite from the soda machine and, to my horror, discovered that it was not Sprite, but in fact just carbonated water. Thinking it was a fluke, I dumped out the carbonated water and tried for the Sprite again. It was carbonated water, again. I asked the guy behind the counter about the faulty soda machine and he informed me that they had run out of Sprite, so they had just filled the slot with carbonated water.
I sat down and opened my little cardboard box and to my horror, there was something VERY wrong. There were no chips. El Queso always used to give free chips with quesadillas, but apparently not anymore. I was not happy with all of the changes at El Queso and I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Was above what I was expected. Food was fresh. Good sauces. Very diverse menu. Very good portions.

Checked this place out yesterday as I was just in the area. Definitely similar to chipotle and free birds but much better! seems like a family owned spot, correct me if im wrong, but im always down for supporting local businesses. I got the 3 soft tacos 2 ground beef and 1 grilled chicken. It tasted so fresh the chicken was not dry. The price was very good for what you get as well. Cheaper than chipotle or free birds will def try to come more often!

But in all seriousness, it’s just damn good Mexican food, one million times better than chipotle, or qdoba, or any other fast burrito joint. I always get a burrito with rice and black beans, sour cream, the mild sauce and queso. Killer. The rice is also traditional and awesome, and make sure you get the chips too… they have a hint of lime flavor.

Small but good. I ordered the steak burrito bowl and it was really good. A little more expensive then I would have thought but good never the less. Reviewers are right, its a chipotle concept. One big tip though, don’t come during lunch rush. This place is crawling with high school kids. Every booth was full. They left around 12:30.

Return visit after long absence. New items for menu with fish or shrimp. Grilled as you wait so nice and fresh. Worth another visit before too long. Another customer got their burrito which was huge. Plan on sharing with your table partner.

I always get the chicken quesadilla so I don’t know how the rest of the food is.
But I would like to say it’s good. If you have been to chipotle you will like this place. They just have a more diverse menu that has shrimp and fish as well.

This place is delicious. They are on-​par with Torchies, but cheaper with bigger portions. That makes them win. They have a layout similar to Chipotle or Freebirds but better. They have more options and taste better. Only reason they get a 4 is due to the lack of drink choices. They just have the basics, if you go to Torchies, they have a variety of real sugar soda and a bar.
I had 2 mahi tacos, 1 salmon taco and a bowl of queso. All recommended and when I recommend, I recommend that you take my recommendation and recommend my recommendation to your friends to recommend my recommendation.
