Geez — forced to go back! This place is even worse! Bad food, bad service… What the hell has happened? Can’t be the only one — hardly see any business here even during lunch. As I indicated before — used to be a mainstay in Plano with great food. Now it just sucks! Goodbye Dickey’s!

This location has switched format to meat by weight and a la carte sides, no 1, 2 or 3 meat plates. Very disappointing, putting a one meat, two sides and drink at close to $ 12 a head without tax. Been here many times before the change, the quality of BBQ at this location is fair and only ok, I don’t believe it will support this format. Not sure what will happen next, if customer base goes away, very hard in this town to get them back.

Recent changes have ruined this restaurant. My wife and I have been coming for years, yesterday was our last visit. You walk in and notice how«sterile» it looks. Gone are the photos, signs, decorations. The entire set-up is different, no longer buffet style. There is no longer a big menu with options(like plates and dinners), but everything is sold individually. I had a chopped sandwich, a side of cole slaw, my wife had sliced turkey and two sides, we had two drinks(and we only charged for one drink) and the total was over $ 26.00 dollars, which is WAY too expensive for what you get. The butcher chopping the meat never once looked up to say anything to us or greet us. There was a very nice older man next to him who seemed embarassed that the butcher wasn’t friendlier. We felt embarassed for him. Dickey’s should be ashamed of what they have become.

I grew up down the street from the original Dickey’s BBQ. Ive accepted that old school Dickey’s is never going to happen again but every once in a while I stop in one of the franchises for a little nostalgia. Not anymore. The two meat plate I’ve been ordering for forty years no longer exists. You can still get two meats and two sides and a drink… but it cost me over $ 20. What I got for that hefty price was mall, food court grade BBQ. Only that’s not true, because I used to eat at the Colters at Valley View Mall all the time and that BBQ was infinitely better than this mess. Also… forget the old Dickey’s challenge to see how much potato salad you could pile up on your plate. They limit you to sides served in small paper cups now. Somehow this particular franchise even messed up the BBQ sauce… It tasted like vinegar wine. On top of all that, the girl at the register had a serious attitude problem. After she chewed out a very polite old guy for asking why his sandwich plate suddenly cost so much, I’d had enough.

I have always placed my holiday order with this Plano location. Never had an issue until this past Christmas. Nothing is more stressful than showing up at 3 pm on Christmas Eve to be told there is no trace of my order. Thankfully I had my receipt to showed that I paid two weeks in advanced. First of all, the young lady running the to– go register was tired because she told us, couldn’t carry on a concerned conversation all she could do is mutter and rub her eyes. The manager seemed stressed but he figured out that my order was picked up by somebody else. I feel like in the future they need to work off confirmation numbers or a different system. We got our order pieced to together and had to make another stop at another location close to my house but ended having to wait in line for 45 minutes. Food was excellent but customer service was not up to par.

I am very disappointed in Dickey’s BBQ. They can’t get the orders right. I am so sick and tired of fast food places that can’t get a simple order right. And the uneducated people working for minimum wage at fast food restaurants want a raise to the minimum wage? I say we lower it so they get paid by the same standards of customer service of which they are providing. I am very disappointed in Dickey’s BBQ and the low level of employees they have representing them.

Chintzy on their meat portions! I ordered the sliced beef plate and was disappointed with how much meat the cutter put on the plate. The manager was right behind him, so I asked how many ounces a portion should be? He said 5 ounces, so they measured my portion and it came to 3.5 ounces on the scale! He said he was sorry, corrected it, and then it looked okay. But how many people don’t say anything and get ripped off by the cutter not using a scale every time and the error is always in Dickey’s favor? They have also discontinued sweet pickle relish! No more Dickey’s for me!

We have been going here for 20+ years and the quality is not good anymore. Seems they have new owners/management that are more interested in making money rather than good BBQ. I had sliced chicken, macaroni & cheese and green beans and a little Dickey’s cup of iced tea. That cost me $ 13, for lunch!!! A coworker tried the coleslaw and it had a funny taste to it. They used to have a lot of sides to choose from, but apparently they have cut back. When we asked the manager about it, all 5 of us had the no care feeling. When asked about the size of the cups, they used to have large ones, we were told they are trying to save us money. Are you kidding me??? I will not go back!

The brisket was the worst ive ever had. It was so dry that not even BBQ could save it. The potato salad tasted horrible. We should of known better when we pulled up! It was Sunday afternoon after church and not 1 customer came in between 11:30 — 12:15pm… Will never go back to this location and migt boycott dickies as a whole!

I ordered food to go here and was not disappointed. I received my order within 10 min of order with a few orders ahead of mine. I got the family pack with ribs and brisket. Both meats were moist and just the right amount of smoke flavor.

I’m a pretty easy going guy, and don’t tend to be too critical in most cases, but feel the need to speak my mind in regards to my Dickey’s experience. I have been to many Dickey’s locations, including one we used to eat at weekly. This location fell far from the tree. First, all plates/meals are weighed when ordered. I understand inventory control, but this makes it feel like I am part of an assembly line. Second, the rolls(which I typically crave) were not the Dickey’s norm(unless things have changed recently). They reminded me of the generic grocery store variety that you reheat in the oven. I was told that these were what they always serve, which I find hard to believe. Third, I feel that the cashier was not very detail oriented when checking us out. My grandmother had brought a coupon and only had one side. Nonetheless, the total for us was almost $ 30. Shame on me for my paying closer attention. Fourth, they don’t offer honey. Every other Dickey’s has honey for their delicious rolls. I guess since the delicious rolls were available neither was the honey. When I asked, the cashier was unapologetic and told me they had butter. Not the same. Lastly, they offer plastic silverware. It is the cheap icing on the cake. Overall, the barbecue and sides were delicious. But in a state where you can get barbecue on every corner, it’s the little things that matter. I will attempt another Dickey’s in the future to see if this is a corporate thing, or purely locational.

We took a chance this Thanksgiving and ordered a smoked turkey from Dickey’s. We had doubts about doing so but it was fantastic. Turned out to be the best turkey we have ever had. Kudos to the staff at Dickey’s in Plano. We will be ordering our Thanksgiving bird from you from now on

1st visit this location although I have eaten at a number of their BBQ locations in TX. Simple and straight forward. Prompt service and a lot of food provided. If you have limited time for lunch stop here. At this location they offer daily specials which are a bargain $ 2 cheaper than the same meal at other times.

It’s an older building that smells strongly of musty wood. It’s filled with lots of booth and open seating. Country music blares over the sound system. The barbeque is pretty good, but what sets this place apart from Sonny Bryan’s is their wider selection of sides. They also have free ice cream.

I LOVE Dickey’s BBQ. The portions are huge but I’ve never left food on my plate. You order mix and match style — one two or three meats and then your sides then take a seat while your food is put together. The brisket and chicken are my favorite. The meat is cooked without sauce and you add the sauce yourself with several options depending on your liking. This is a great place for families or great for a quick meal that’s above fast food but faster than a normal sit down restaurant. Serve yourself dill pickles from a barrel and soft serve ice cream(not together) are two bonuses for me!

The brisket was chewy, the potatoes were gummy, the corn had no butter on it and none of it was even in the same vicinity as hot or warm. And the restaurant itself was FREEZING. I do not like having to inhale my food because it’s just too miserable to sit there any longer. And, yes, I had on a coat. No wonder the food wasn’t hot.

I’ve been to Dickey’s a thousand times and this particular store a few times. This was my first trip to the carry out portion and while the food was amazing as it usually is the service on this end was pretty sketchy. To get carry out food you enter through a side door and wait in an area that is probably the area of a large dog kennel. There were two people in front of us and it took a very long time for the food to be brought to them. Once they were ready to leave we had to basically climb the wall in order to give them room to get out. Once the people had passed we traversed along the wall to the register and placed our order. We received our food rather quickly then repelled back down to the door so we could enjoy our amazing BBQ. If you are dining in then Dickey’s gets 5 stars from me. If you are doing carry out then Dickey’s is lucky to get 3.

Is it possible no other Unilocaler has been here? Nah… just musta forgot to do the review. So here I am. I’ve been to this Dickey’s BBQ well over 100 times for both lunch and dinner. This was from 1997 to 2008. This place KNOWS good BBQ! Nice cafeteria style line. Tell the chef what you want and there it is, on your plate. Grab some side dishes(usually fried okra and macaroni/cheese for me) and a drink to complete the deal. Had everything on the menu at least once. Always great food! I believe that I will be back. SOON!
