Campisi’s Restaurant

Just ordered delivery from this location. The pizza is way too salty. The Greek salad is really soggy and drenched in too much dressing. I’m giving it two stars because I enjoy eating Campisi’s pizza, this location just seems to do a terrible job at it. I usually go to the Dallas parkway location. I might give that location another try one day, but today’s lunch was very disappointing.

Food and service is always great! I eat there several times a month and have never had an issue.

Took them TWO WHOLE HOURS to get a slice of lasagna from Parker and Independence to my home at Parker and Custer. Order at your own risk!!!

Buyer beware. Just had a Greek salad and a pizza delivered by a driver whose radio was BLARING. The pizza arrived with a burnt crust and barely lukewarm temperature. The topping portions were generous, but would have tasted better hot. The Greek salad has the dressing on it, so it was a little soggy by the time it arrived. The salad was also much smaller than anticipated for $ 11. So, order the dressing on the side of your overpriced salad and be prepared to reheat your burnt pizza!

I grew up eating Campisi’s Pizza. It used to be the best pizza in the DFW area. They have been going downhill for the last several years. I ordered pizza tonight and I have to say that they have hit rock bottom. (Hopefully it’s limited to the Plano location) I’m extremely disappointed in the quality of pizza that was delivered. Super thin crust, over cooked, with very few toppings. Domino’s is better than this.

I hate to give a poor review for a restaurant because this is someone’s livelihood at stake here. For the sake of the Campisi’s restaurant chain, the city of Plano, and my neighborhood, I must report this restaurant. I don’t even know where to begin. This place is so frustrating to me because I have so many great memories of going to Campisi’s at Coit & Campbell while growing up in north Dallas. I’m not sure what’s going on at this Parker & Independence location in Plano. We’ve been here twice and both times we felt like we had been robbed. When people work hard everyday of their lives to earn a living, they don’t like to pay a premium price for mediocre food and poor customer service.
On our most recent visit on October 30, we called in an order for pickup. They said it would take about 15 minutes… great! We drove over and I went in to pickup the food. No one greeted me when I entered the restaurant, which I should note was half empty on a Friday night, so I walked over to the bar where I saw some employees congregating. They asked me «how many?» Well I’m here by myself and you guys make food to go too. Maybe you should ask, «Dining in or out?» Then go from there? I answered her question (was she the hostess? I have no idea) while she was grabbing menus for me, myself, and I, and much to her chagrine, I told her that I was getting food to go. Very sorry to disappointment you. She didn’t say anything to me, she just put the menus down and hollered at somebody else. That person turned around and said to me, «Yes?» Sorry to bother you too. I said I have an order to pick up. She looked up my order and gave me the price… $ 39. $ 39? How could this be? We ordered a medium all the way pizza, two side salads, spaghetti and meatballs. Surely this was a mistake. She double-​checked it for me… nope, not a mistake. I shelled over the money and felt sad as it left my wallet. I looked at a menu while I was waiting for my food to go. The prices on the website didn’t match the prices on their menu in the restaurant. Well that explains it. I guess they didn’t feel like updating their website, couldn’t afford to update their website, or hadn’t gotten around to it.
Well we got our food a few minutes later, and it was much more than we had planned on spending, but we were excited to have some good pizza, tasty salads, and yummy spaghetti and meatballs. When we got home we opened everything and looked at our puny little medium, thin crust, COLD pizza wondering why this was $ 18. We live 5 minutes from Campisi’s. I’m convinced that this was not being kept warm after it was taken out of the oven. We showed up when our food was supposed to be ready, and then we had to wait a little while to get our food. How could it be cold?
Let’s move on to the spaghetti. It was a good size portion of spaghetti and sauce. The sauce was unremarkable. I wasn’t thinking, oh my gosh this is so amazing, I must have this again! It was just meh. Maybe because it was so expensive, I wasn’t too impressed by it. The meatballs were nice and large and tasted good, no complaints there.
The two side salads… this was interesting. One salad was very heavy because it was sitting in so much dressing. The lettuce was limp and gross like it had been prepared much earlier in the evening and was ready for take out. The other side salad was dry. Not one ounce of salad dressing. What a joke. Really? How can you ruin two side salads? We have a 1 year and a 4 year old and I wasn’t about to get back in the car and go get two new salads, so our solution was to throw both of them into a large mixing bowl and toss the salads together. It turned out pretty decent because there was so much dressing on the first one it was able to cover the two of them. That didn’t fix the soggy lettuce but it was better than nothing.
We’ve had MUCH better family meals for $ 30 — $ 35 including a tip! Heck we’ve had better meals for $ 25 at Jason’s Deli. It was very frustrating having paid $ 39 for this mediocre meal. To think that if we had dined there it would’ve been $ 46! This restaurant would be a great candidate for Gordon Ramsay’s «Kitchen Nightmares» because clearly that is where this place is heading. The people working here either don’t care, have given up, have no idea what they’re doing, or a little bit of all of the above. When you combine all these things together you get poor execution in the greeting, the food preparation, the value, the cleanliness, the ambiance, etc… everything suffers. I hope this place can get new leadership and they clean house and can turn it around. It would be great if our neighborhood had a great Italian restaurant where we could go again and again and support our local community. This is very sad and dissappointing. I guess we’ll be making more trips to Papa Murphy’s for to-​go pizzas.

Why are they still open? Tough chicken parm, paper thin pizza crust, flaover town abandoned this place years ago. Being Italian, anyone called this place real Italian may be subject to getting hit over the head for insulted my heritage.

We had ordered for pickup and service was fine, the guy had to run back and put the dressing in the bag but polite. Refer to the pics, the overall taste wasn’t anything to write home about, not high on flavor and I’m from New York and had my fair share of Italian dishes.
Bread it came with was a tad chewy, probably just defrosted and baked. I understand that some things just vary between locations, but maybe they could kick it up a notch on flavor and quality of presentation for the prices.

We decided on Campisi’s on a Thursday evening. We live close and since we’ve enjoyed Campisi’s in the past, decided this would be the place to go.
I’m assuming since school had started this particular week and it wasn’t a weekend, it was a pretty slow night. There were probably four other tables with patrons. When we walked in the guy at the bar directed us to a booth. He gave us menus and said that our server would be with us soon.
Soon apparently meant 20 minutes. The ENTIRE experience was unbelievably slow. Between just getting our drink orders to finally getting our food, we were sitting at the table for an hour before our food was served.
Our food was unremarkable. I ordered shrimp scampi which is generally served with a pasta/​sauce combination. My boyfriend got chicken parmesan. I requested angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce. When our food came my boyfriend’s pasta hadn’t been drained properly and the his Chicken was soggy. My scampi and Alfredo sauce were both very bland and I found myself salting every bite.
When we (finally) received our check I had been charged $ 4.99 for the angel hair and Alfredo sauce. Keep in mind that the menu states that it’s served with Spaghetti or Fettuccine. I was taken aback by the fact that I was charged $ 5 to change pastas… and that it was not mentioned when I requested it. In total, our bill between the two of us was $ 42. I found that a little steep for a Thursday night dinner where we just ordered two pasta dishes.
Super disappointing.

This place is awesome! Been coming here for years, and I think I can label it as my favorite restaurant. Not only is the pizza frickin delicious, the randy white ravioli is amaaaaaazing!!! I’ve chosen to come here for my birthday for the past two years because it’s just cute and quaint. The ambience is nice, the food is awesome, and the service is great as well. Don’t listen to the bad reviews, this place is a gem.

We ate here recently with another couple for a birthday dinner. This was my first time trying Campisi’s, though others in the group raved. We arrived around 6 p.m. on a Saturday night and had plenty of tables/​booths to choose from.
The inside is very nice; I could picture it being a good date spot. I actually felt a little under dressed (I was wearing jeans and a t-​shirt). Our waitress was helpful and quick to get us anything whenever we needed it. She brought us out a basket of sourdough slices to snack on while we waited for our appetizer, the stuffed artichokes. The sauce was super buttery, but the artichokes were nice and soft. Since we had also ordered pizza, I only ate a little.
The pizza we ordered was the medium, which is plenty for two people to split. My husband had tried to insist we order the large – he was glad when the pizza arrived that we had only gone with the medium! We ordered the everything pizza, which came out in a large rectangle, cut into rectangular pieces. It was good pizza, though in my opinion, nothing amazing. Next time I’d like to try more of their traditional fare, and see how that goes.

Food was mediocre at best. I had the chicken parmigian and the chicken was too salty to be edible. The calamari tasted burnt, and my husband’s chicken Alfredo had way too much sauce, almost looked like soup.
This is the worst campisi’s location I’ve been to. We were unsatisfied with the quality of the food here.

Give your business to someone else. While their pizza is «passable» they will charge you double if you want YOUR pizza to be made the way YOU want it. Not to mention they are overpriced for mediocre pizza to begin with. I used to order from there about twice per month until i realized how they were overcharging me.

Ah, Campisi’s.
A large. All the way. A wonderful melding of onions and finely diced bell pepper and mushrooms and sausage and salami (!) that somehow all works together. That thin crust that is cracker-​like at the edges but soft and wonderful in the middle. Just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Whenever I get to jonesin’ for some pizza, I dial you up.
Unfortunately, I’ll be jonesin’ for you a lot less these days. $ 20 for a large pizza? It’s good; really good. But I’m not really sure it’s $ 20 worth of good. And, it’s not really «large».
The pizza itself gets multiple stars. The value? Not so much.
Ah, Campisi’s. I hardly knew ye. Maybe one of these days we will meet again…

Two stars for fast delivery service. Beyond that… mediocre food, high prices, lunch-​sized dinner portions. Obviously prepared from dried pasta and frozen bread. Reminds me of the «Italian» meal one prepares from packaged foods in their very first apartment, before learning how to actually prepare Italian food. Or, any food for that matter. Al dente does not mean «gummy and chewy» and toasted ravioli should be made from fresh pasta dough, not bread dough. The sausage and marinara were decent, though not remarkable enough to prompt a second order.

Campisi’s is puzzling. The food is delicious; the staff earnestly wants you to have a good experience. But dining there feels awkward. There is no host stand, no place put yourself until a table is ready. I saw confused customers mistakenly trying to seat themselves, because it was not apparent to them that anyone would take their name and place them on a waiting list. Not the host’s fault! People are accustomed to seeing a person standing at a host stand when they enter a restaurant. Although this location has been there for some time, it feels as if they are still figuring out how to run things.
So it’s confusing to me why a well-​liked, local Italian place with name recognition would settle for this kind of mediocre customer experience. It’s a good restaurant, we enjoy eating there, but it could be so much better.

We come here all of the time… and we get food to go often as well. Always great food, and good service. They have a great chicken parmesan sandwich, great pizza and pasta. Their salads are good but ask for dressing on the side if you are getting it to go.
The only thing we would change is that they have been using canned mushrooms on their pizzas for years and the recipe was amazing! A few months back they decided to switch to fresh mushrooms (which are fine) but it changes the entire taste of the pizza. My husband asks the employees every time we go there when they are going to bring back the old pizza recipe!
Either way… it doesn’t stop us from coming in a few times every month. Definitely worth checking it out!

WTF! You have got to be kidding me! Campisi’s what have you done?
This has been the gold standard for pizza in Dallas for decades. Then someone decides to go in and «fix» things? Pizza overcooked, little cheese, even less sauce. Someone decided that fresh mushrooms would be better than canned — yeah, after decades of success. Salami pieces cut way to big and too much — overpowered the pizza.
Is someone in the Campisi family listening? Why are you screwing with success? Your pizza used to be what I compared all others to — now it’s a piece of crap! Even Joe’s Garlic Bread was terrible!
This is a shock to my system and drives me away from Campisi’s entirely. I do not understand why people have to mess with what was the best pizza in Dallas.
