Insanely high prices. Go with Dallas Camera or Competitive Cameras. They quoted me double what I usually pay for a weekend rental at the other stores for a 24 hour period. For a fairly inexpensive lens. The employee I spoke with was nice and helpful, but Jesus, man.

So the only reason I even heard of this place is because I was stalking ONA bags and found that Camera Stop sells them. Cue my self-hate when I realized there is a full fledged camera store literally down the street from my home. Like, SHUTUP! So I went straight to the ONA bags and happily fondled them, when Mr. Myint came by and started talking to me about how I have great taste(he uses the mack daddy of them all, Brixton). We went through each bag and he told me which would best fit my needs. He was SO easy to talk to and avoided technical camera jargon. I am a hobbyist and I love that he didn’t make me feel like a dumbass. I liked him so much, I decided to browse their cameras because it was like talking to a buddy. LOVETHATMAN. Honest + Friendly + Knowledgeable = I will return when I finally convinced my husband I need a new camera.

I stopped here to hopefully find a shotgun microphone for my camera. I walked around the store for close to 5 minutes — no one asked to wait on me. And then just as I had found the display of microphones, a salesperson pushed his way by me and excused himself on his way to another customer. That customer had not been in the store nearly as long as I had. When the customer said he was just looking and didn’t need help, did the salesperson then return and ask me the same question? Nope. He went and disappeared behind the counter again. So I simply walk out of the store. And you wonder why people spend so much money shopping online and mom and pop camera shops like this are going out of business left & right. If this is the kind of service you can expect from Camera Stop, you can just skip this on your search for camera equipment.

I use this store mainly for printing my digital print sizes(8×12, 12×18, etc). This store is the only store near me that prints them on site. They have a website uploading service which makes it very convenient. The service is very prompt and if have always been able to pick up my prints same day. The staff has always greeted me warmly and have been helpful.

LOVE this place! I’m strictly a hobbyist when it comes to photography and purchased my DSLR from Camera Stop 4 or 5 years ago. The staff there will always take the time to answer any questions about their products, techniques for taking better shots, the best paper to print certain types of photos on, etc. I’ve been in several dozen times over the last few years and even after a long absence it feels like walking into Cheers as you stroll through the door with everyone greeting you and genuinely interested in helping you. Wouldn’t dream of going to another camera shop.

What I like about this store is the expertise of the employees — reading other reviews it sounds like I may have lucked out and come at a time when they had the«A-Team» working because I was very pleased with the advice and answers I received with my numerous questions. So… that’s what I liked… and that’s why I giving them 2 stars — but only 2. Oh, and they have a cool play area for kids. What I didn’t like: The prices are really, really bad. I wanted to support local business and I had already priced the items I was looking at online prior to coming in to this store so I had a ball park idea of what I would be spending. As it turned out, they were at least 40% more expensive on everything. I decided I would limit what I was buying there to just a few items and get the rest online. Then I asked the guy who I believe is the owner if he could work with me on the price, explaining that I had found the same item(actually a better version of it) online for nearly half the cost. He quickly became emotional ranting about how I could ask them for advice, etc … they have to make money, etc … I told him I understood. I said I wasn’t asking for a price match, but if he could meet me even half-way… he said«No» and his face was reddening. I was tempted to just leave, but I did get good advice so I asked for just $ 5 off the item, and again he said no. I said«not even a dollar??» and again, he said«no.» I could not believe it. He knew I was spending quite a bit more than I needed too and he refused to knock a dime off the price to make the sale. After processing it a bit in my head I went ahead and bought the items, explaining to him that I wanted to support a local store so I would do it but I wasn’t happy about it. I feel like I did not get completely ripped off since he was helpful at the start. If you are a new photog and not very good and researching online, this store can be a good resource for assisting you with your camera.

I took a one hour one on one lesson to learn how to use my camera. I liked that they did not pressure me to purchase anything. The staff was very knowledgeable and I feel like this place will be my go to place for my photography needs !!

I’m giving 5 stars but have no idea if its«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» or not since this is the only camera store front I’ve ever been to. I just buy online. But I wanted a lens and I wanted it NOW! So I called around and wouldn’t ya know it WOLF Camera said these guys would have what I was looking for. Sure enough they did and they even matched an online price to get me in the door! I’m glad they did too! Cuz I totally got to geek out on camera stuff with people who knew way way more than I do. Although I’m getting more knowledgeable everyday, I think I’m probably a better photo engineer than an artist. Good service especially since I was the only one there with 2 people behind the counter It was easy to get all the photogeek info I wanted.

Trying to support a local business, I stopped in to get a simple cable. Their price was outrageous at $ 35.99 and they would not pricematch. I can get the same FireWire cable at Fry’s for $ 19.99, so that’s where I’ll go. Way to lose a customer Camera stop!

I’m a firm believer in supporting local business, and even purchased a rolling bag and a Gary Fong flash diffuser here, HOWEVER, I reserved a rental lens I needed for a wedding, and when I called the day before to confirm, YEP, they’d already rented it to someone else! I was very disappointed, and to make matters worse, they were not sorry or remorseful for the oversight. I will NOT be purchasing anything from them again.

I highly recommend Camera Stop to anyone. They are very knowledgeable about their products and do not talk down or belittle people with less photography experience. They helped me find the right camera in my budget and showed me some additional items I could purchase later to help me take even better shots. I purchased my camera from them 2 years ago. I was having a lens repaired and had failed to write down the serial number before sending it to Nikon. I no longer had the receipt but I called them up and they had my original receipt on file. I do not live in the area so they offered to mail it to me at no additional cost. I will continue doing business with this company for all of my camera needs.

The best thing about this place is that it’s super close to home. I rented a lens from them once. They seemed pleasant enough, although kind of paranoid about their lens caps. They do have a very limited selection of rentals, but their rental price is fair. However, their merchandise, as far as camera bodies, lenses, etc, seems way overpriced compared to what you can buy online. You know. I am sure I sound like a terrible person for not wanting to support local business, but why would I pay 115 dollars for something I can buy for 80 dollars online(and get free shipping!)? The other thing that made me raise my eyebrow is that I could over hear a conversation going on between an associate and a gentleman hobbyist, and I am not sure that youth really knew what he was talking about, which always rubs me the wrong way. If you are going to hire someone to sell expensive equipment, you should get someone who knows a little something-something. :)
