We each got the 3 roll lunch special($ 13, comes with miso soup and a salad) for pick up/take out. I got the shrimp tempura, USA roll(spicy crab) and the Frence(shrimp tempura, crab & avocado) rolls. It was delicious! Exactly what I was in the mood for, tastes great My friend got the Tuna, Scallion Yellowtail and the Hollywood(salmon, yellowtail & avocado) rolls.(She is a regular here and recommended it to me) I will definitely come here again(only problem was we ordered online and it didn’t register our first 2 rolls of each order, so if you order online write in your order as well as clicking the bubbles, and we had to wait 20 mins for it to be made. But it was so good it was worth the wait

Negimaki Udon allll dayyyy… My coworkers order take out here every Friday. I get the aforementioned soup. I refer to it as «treasure soup» because sometimes you pull out some chicken, some egg, a piece of crab… I enjoy the hunt and revel in the mystery. My obnoxious coworker leaves to pick it up so if I could add extra stars for that I would. Everything they order looks good, they offer value lunch bento and habachi boxes. I get to slurp my huge soup loudly to annoy the aforementioned coworker. Everybody wins at Hama!

Had the 3 roll lunch with miso soup & salad. Rolls came out lightning fast. Nice tasting but very small in comparison to other places I have been in the area. Good taste. Oblivious staff. Eh. Not my fave

Ordered delivery and must say, pretty surprised at how great the food was. We had a huge sushi platter and a variety of entrees and all were delicious. Sushi was fresh and you can’t be the prices. Food was delivered fast and for free. Would definitely order here again and most definitely will eat in one day!

Service is a little slacking here but mamma Hama is great. I’ve only been here for lunch from work and their lunch special selection is big. Great quality too. Overall 4⁄5 stars. Usually get the 3 rolls for $ 13 lunch special. Comes with salad and miso soup.

I was in Long Island for work and wanted Asian food. I didn’t expect much from this place given the reviews but it was convenient. I ordered the Sukiyaki noodle soup since it was cold out. Do not order this! It was pretty gross! and to top it all off, this was $ 16!!! I would have preferred to have instant ramen and it would have cost me $ 1. Luckily I also ordered a roll(Salmon) and it wasn’t too bad. Granted not the freshest I’ve had but decent.

The sushi is good, service is good, and presentation is excellent. I always get some sort of bonus appetizer sushi which is a plus. Place seems to do good business and is popular with the locals. Ambiance is nice enough however they play odd western pop/rock music over the speakers and have a wall mounted TV that detracts from the ambiance and cheapens the décor.

This place has gone down hill. I ordered sushi lunch yesterday and it was honestly really not good. The sushi was not fresh, and had that garbagey fishy taste. I expected much more and I gave this place plenty of chances. Also, last time I was here, there were a few pieces of shaved metal or what looked like metal in my spicy tuna roll. I looked past it because I didn’t want to make a big deal. When I ordered yesterday, the man rang my doorbell and I didn’t come right away(within 1 minute) because I was gathering his cash tip, he went back to his car and I physically had to go out and get it from him. It’s not a big deal, but it was extremely rude. I know this place is convienent and fairly priced, but there are a lot better options.

The food at Hama was really amazing. They have some of the freshest fish I’ve had in a long time. Everything was delicious especially the sashimi appetizer and the Katsura don dinner. I used to go as a child and it’s still delicious.

I really like this place, definitely a must-go if you are in the neighborhood. Decent prices for quality sushi and not to mention, their staff is very friendly. We tried their Spicy Tuna Pizza and their 10 Piece Sashimi as appetizer. For my entrée, I tried their Seafood Fried Rice which included two large shrimp, two large scallops, crab, egg, squid and vegetables. It came out piping hot and the presentation was elegant. I enjoyed the meal very much but I would have enjoyed it more if the fried rice had a richer scent of egg rather than soy sauce. Definitely worth going back!

Hama has become our«go to» place for sushi. Always fresh and always good. They have a lot of different rolls that will leave even hard core sushi lovers coming back for more. My favorite are the Godzilla and UFO rolls. I really love the oyster shots as well. If you are not into sushi, the menu has many other excellent things to try. Udon soup is very good, especially the spicy seafood variety. They make an excellent pork katsudon and Bibimbap. If you are in the Plainview area, there are several decent choices for Japanese food. Hama tops the list.

I ordered takeout from here for the first time. After 3 – 5 minutes it was ready. I tried the spicy tuna roll. It was hard to chew and the tuna was not fresh. I was starving and couldn’t even bring myself to finish it. Nice people bad fish.

We had a good experience here ordering takeout for lunch. I opted for the Bento Lunch box which came with a handful of shrimp and veggies in a teriyaki sauce, five pieces of a crab based roll, a small salad, a small soup, and a scoop or white rice. Everything was good, and I feel it’s a fair value at $ 11. I also tried wasabi shumai which was creative and tasteful. I would certainly order these again. All in all, the delivery was quick and the food was good. The only qualm was that we were shorted utensils.

Story Time: Had an interesting experience here. I ordered dinner online. There are many sushi places in my area, but this was the only one offering a discount on their online ordering system. So I went ahead and bought almost $ 60 worth of food, but only was charged $ 40 due to the discounts. Sounds great right? After I placed the order I received a total of 3 phone calls from the restaurant asking more questions about my order. I reminded them on the last phone to not forget soy sauce and spicy mayo. I made sure to write that in the comment section of the ordering page online, but I just wanted to remind the lady on the phone. So she said ‘yes, of course’ and then hung up. The delivery man came 40 minutes later, which was fine they said to allow 45 minutes online. He gave me the food and I gave him the money I previously retrieved, because I knew what the bill was going to come to since I ordered online. I closed the door and walked to the kitchen, then I heard a loud few knocks. It was the delivery man, he said I gave him the wrong change. So I looked at the bill and the bill said sixty something dollars. I tried explaining to him the bill was wrong and he was confused, so I showed him my computer, which had my order on it. He saw it but i guess did not believe me? Even though he was staring at my online receipt. So he proceeds to call someone at the restaurants, while holding my door open, as I am holding up my computer and reading off of it. After a few minutes of talking he hands ME the phone. The lady proceeds to tell me many things which were incorrect and got me very frustrated. She then said the reason why I owed more was because I asked for soy sauce and spicy mayo… over $ 20 more. I told her that if those items were extra she should have told me that over the phone, or online. It said nothing online about those being extra. After I spoke up and said that to her, she said never mind and told me to just pay what I originally intended to pay. So i handed the man back his phone, he was still wedging himself in my doorway, and he talked to her for a little longer before saying goodbye. I went inside, locked the door, and wish I just ordered Pizza. BTW: Sushi was not fresh at all, same with the chicken teriyaki… portions were large though.

Picked up quite a few rolls to go. We all split the rolls so I can’t say for sure which rolls I had. A lot of them were very sweet, I prefer my sushi more on the savory side. The rolls were average size and tasted fresh, though. The platter was pretty large but they only included 4 chopsticks(there were 8 of us). I guess we could have told them, but still, they should have threw in a few more to play it safe.

I’ve visited here a few times before and a couple of times for lunch after management change. The service is pretty slow, even when there are only few tables occupied. The waitresses are not good at explaining the menu, nor is the menu particularly informative, as many of the items listed are no longer offered. Their décor tries to be ambient but just ends up feeling cold, dirty, and dark. The plates are pretty, so I could tell there had been some effort in trying to keep the place classy. Their hot food has gone way down the hill. I’ve had the seafood and tempura udon, chicken teriyaki, phở, and sukiyaki. None taste better than what I could get prepackaged at a supermarket. Though they’re not terrible, their rolls used to be much better. It’s overpriced and honestly what they do well relies entirely on frying and heavy sauces. I got fresh fish once here and swore off it because it tasted so old. They’re in a pretty good location, a busy corner mall on Old Country, but the parking is difficult, even with additional spaces in the back. It’s really only an appropriate place to come if you are with friends, you want some heavily dressed Ameritrash«sushi» and cocktails and don’t want to bother looking for a better place.

There aren’t many good restaurants around Melville(or maybe we just haven’t found them yet), but the last Sushi place we tried was somewhat disappointing. Robata was OK, but were were looking for Delicious. We tried to pre-order to meet our 1 hr Lunch Break but were told we could not but they would rush our order when we arrive. We arrived and they apologized stating a miscommunication and that they do pre-orders. They sent over a deep fried Cream Cheese and Crab roll on the house. This was appreciated. They even let us use our 10% off Unilocal Check in coupon. The majority of us ordered the 2 Rolls —(Maki Lunch Special). I ordered the Godzilla Roll & Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll. For $ 9 you get Miso soup, an AWESOME salad(the dressing was so good!) and 2 rolls. About 1⁄3 of the lunch menu were Specialty rolls, impressive. The sushi was very good. The Rice outside was roll was thin and the filling the dominant player in this roll. I’ve had better Cruncy Spicy Tuna rolls but at $ 9, this deal can’t be beat! Left a little thirsty, hmm, but would still go back for sure! Another Plus! They knew we were in a rush and served us quickly all at once and then came with the Oranges and Check, to pay at our leisure of course. Thank You!

Hama’s ok. Better than a «How Do You Roll?» franchise, but not as good as several other independently owned sushi places I’ve been to. The service was ok. The interior is… ok. I specifically asked our server for a roll that was non-dairy and non-fried, yet was somehow brought an item like that anyway. She exchanged it with no problem and brought me a replacement, which I ate. It was ok. Likewise, the seaweed salad and miso soup. + .5 star bonus for the no-nonsense service and a rather extensive list of ‘special’ roll options. — .5 star for the tv’s in the place which are totally unnecessary.

Not bad Hama Sushi! I heard about this place from a friend who LOVES Japanese food. So I figured if they give me the«ok» then I’m down to go. When I walked in the inside was very nice. It was decorated beautifully with a waterfall cascading the wall and pretty lights as well as paintings around the restaurant. The waitress was very kind and helpful. Since it was during lunch time I ordered the Bento Box lunch special. This is what came inside: –Chicken Teriyaki: YUM. Unlike other places, this chicken wasn’t greasy. It was well-cooked and seasoned just enough. I also liked how they gave me white meat. It’s drizzled with a thick sauce and over a bed of steamed veggies. –They give you a choice of a side and I got Goyza–(dumplings) they were great steamed! –There was also a choice of roll:(Frence, California, Vegetable) I got the Frence which was: crab meat, avocado and shrimp tempura… let me just say. I’m not the biggest sushi fan but WOW this was excellent. I never thought of putting tempura pieces in a roll! Bravo. –It also comes with miso soup(not too salty, just right) and ginger salad.(The dressing was creamy and just the right amount of zing.) –And white rice, a staple. I always ask for green tea when I go to Japanese restaurants. This tea was piping hot, and full of flavor. I’m such a sucker for a nice cup of this stuff. From my post you can obviously tell that when I was done with this meal I was stuffed. It’s that kind of feeling where instant sleepiness comes over you and you could slip into a food coma.(As my friends and I call it.) I will definitely be back!
