Cumberland Valley Service Plaza

If you read my various service plaza reviews, you’ll see that as a general rule, I’m always disappointed about them because of the lack of comfort and creativity. This one is no different. Though I was able to sit outside to shut my eyes, it was on metal chairs by the entrance of the building and where speakers are blasting music all the time.
I ride a bike and my idea of a rest stop is something calm, with trees perhaps and benches and yes, food too. But the way this place is designed feels like they catering to animals in a hurry. There isn’t one quiet spot in the service plaza to chill and really take a break from the drive you’re about to continue.
Of course they have food, or at least something that resembles it, but it’s all junk. If I offend anyone, I’m sorry but the only healthy food I found was oranges at the pizza place, hidden by the cashier. Who knows how old they are!!!
It would take very little to make it better.

The workers at the starbucks are not polite at all. It was their mistake with my drink but they give me attitude? Its over priced drinks be nice to customers!

Better known as Cumberland Valley Service Plaza, it is one of the redesigned rest stops on the Pa Turnpike.
Bright, clean and organized. Ubiquitous Star$$$, and assorted other fasties, plus a reasonable deli-​like space to buy drinks and snacks if you don’t go for the greasy side of the street.

Stopped here on the way to Jersey, and we had a great experience. Restrooms were super clean, and service at the Starbucks was just fine.
The true miracle happened when I got back into my car. A woman came out, asking me if I’d lost my phone. Of course, I had no idea, but my phone had slipped out of my athletic pants. The phone had been turned in and was quickly recovered, but imagine how bad it would have been if we had gotten another 100 miles down the road. Thank goodness for this passerby and the people at the service plaza for finding it and getting it back to me quickly, so we could get back to the trip.

I stop here regularly and the place is always really clean and pleasant. The Roy Rodgers burger was good, auntie Anne’s pretzel was good and the Vente vanilla bean frappaccino with extra whipped cream made my foofy drink loving wife happy. I wish there was a Burger King in the plaza, but one can’t always have their way.

After a certain point on the Turnpike, service plazas all started to look the same.
After reading over other peoples reviews of this place, I must of came upon it after their tear down and revamp. It looks much like the other plazas and is nice and new. I cannot remember the restaurants that populated this one particular plaza, but I’m fairly sure there was a Starbucks here at least.
The bathrooms were spotless and there is ample parking. Smoking area outside on the opposite side of the gas pumps. Easy entrance and exit from the turnpike.

Nice facility and clean. Not the largest I have been in but works.

Stopped for a snack on our cleveland rock and roll hall of fame trip. Auntie Annie’s hit the spot with some pretzel sticks and lemonade.

I stopped here to take a break and possibly get some food. They had Starbucks and Roy Rogers. Seriously, where did they dig up Roy Rogers? They might as well have had Trigger there, too. I’m guessing that eating at Starbucks would have been the cheaper option because Roy Rogers was expensive for what it is. I should have taken a photo of the menu but $ 8 for a combo meal seems a lot and it wasn’t just one item.
So, I said forget that and drove to York instead. Unless you need fuel, don’t bother until they update Cumberland Valley service plaza.

This weekend I have driven from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh and BACK to Philadelphia.
This was undoubtedly the worst looking travel plaza… and we were DESPERATE and so we stopped for some grub.
They have an Uno and Roy Rogers. Slim pickins I know…
Had the Uno pizza. It was like cardboard, but boy did it hit the spot. I didn’t care/​pretend to ignore that the table hadn’t been cleaned since 1991.
Dear Pizza Hut Express in Target stores… I miss you.
