Blue Heron Lake is located in a quite area about a mile from the center of Hummel Park. If you follow the trail you’ll walk through a beautiful shaded area with a rolling path pass a shelter house, then circling the lake edge with a bench to stop and watch the wild life. As you round the lake a picnic table awaits as you leave the woods and the trail continues along a country road and along side of the lake. Large cornfields are across the road and a small subdivision at far end of lake. There is a small parking area(2 – 3 cars) for those wanting to go directly to Blue Herron Lake for a picnic, watching the Herrons on the lake or fishing. One of my favorite trails and a serene spot to put life into prospective.
