This was our first time here. We walked in to be greeted by a very friendly gentleman who placed us at a great little table by the window. Looking at the Sandias from my seat. I had breakfast after a hour long shirt hike in the aforementioned mountain. My husband went for enchiladas. We were both pleasantly surprised by presentation and quality in this cute little café, a central meeting place for Placitas folks. The coffee was exceptional — I had Colombian. I asked the waiter what buttermilk pie was and he said I’ll bring you one on the house! It was sweet and flavorful. We will come back, we do many hikes out here, not sure why we had not stopped in before???

My informal survey places their red chile sauce amongst the top in the state.

Frozen microwave thawed food is not food made fresh from scratch. Roaches scatter when you turn on kitchen lights. Owner John uses poisons which are illegal for use in food establishments. Owner has no business integrity or human morals. He should lose his business license for the immoral way he shrugged off his filthy cook throwing knives at coworkers and baiting people to fight. John fires people who where assaulted physically and verbally by his cook. Then refuses to give them a letter of termination so he can lie to unemployment and try to say they quit. John and his brother Mike are the manipulative owners of the placitas café which is run like a filthy zoo and its a reflection of their personalities.

I had the buffalo green chili cheeseburger, which was perfectly done. The pinto beans were good and my colleague said the fries were good. The service was good with an appropriate amount of snark. I saw lots of hugs and friendly interactions between wait staff and customers — like I’d expect to see for a good café frequented by locals. Good food, reasonably priced, very open to adapting to meet diet needs and preferences.

I eat at the Placitas Café pretty regularly. I think their red chile is some of the best in the state. The bar has a good selection of strong ale. Good folks, good times.

Pleasant environment, clean. Personal and personable service — and excellent food(we had breakfast). Large portions though you may take that as you wish(we didn’t eat again until dinner…). If I’m in the area again we’ll be returning.

Laid back and relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast/brunch on the patio is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning. Food is amazing, fresh and local. Self serve coffee station with a drawer of mugs… very much the small local establishment. Enjoyed the buffalo burrito with red and green chili sauce(«Christmas») It was delicious and the pinto beans fresh. Will be taking a pound of coffee to go!

The café is a great neighborhood spot. We go here for Sunday breakfast most weeks. John, the owner is friendly with an off beat sense of humor. Good selection of breakfast items, some a little unusual. On Sunday the Huevos Benedictos are not to be missed. It is a southwest take on eggs Benedict with poached eggs, ham, English muffin with a special sauce teamed up with pinto beans and grilled tomato slices. During the week, the green chile cheeseburger is one of the best around. Never opened on holidays.

The Placitas Café is quality food. I like their Juevos Rancheros better than the Range Café. I also Like their burgers better as well. Service is excellent and its very kick back there.

Good is good, y’all… I’m not from around these parts so there *might* be a better green chile cheeseburger somewhere; but I’ve been to this café 4 – 5 times and never found it necessary to order anything BUT the green chile cheeseburger! It’s excellent! To second another reviewer, the coleslaw is also divine(when eaten with the green chile cheeseburger, of course).

Another Fri night at Placitas Café — sweet time with Ran — yep we are both on I-phones. Great mom and pop friendly, warm, comfy, good food and service.

Nice and weird. There’s some great art on the walls and the service is very friendly. Our waiter knew the moment I walked in that I was irritated, and got our food out asap. The nachos plate was massive, easily enough food for two people. I ordered the Placitas omlette which was good, but I think I would have chopped the bell peppers up into squares instead of lengthy strips. And they get another star for having free wifi!

By far the best breakfast in the ABQ area. two brothers own this place and they are funny and very appreciative of their business. They also have beer and wine Tue-Sat. great breakfast, we try to go every Sat or Sun morning.
