It’s simple: I love books: the smell, feel and the printed word. Keep local libraries open! Keep librarians employed! Support your local library: go there, check out materials!

My favorite library in El Dorado County. They have the largest selection of books that I have seen in the area. It’s an old library, and hasn’t been updated probably since it opened, but I like it because it reminds me of going to the library with my Mom as a kid. It’s a comforting and relaxing place to go hang out for a few hours. Their audiobook selection is easily the best and most extensive, although it bugs me a little that they have mostly Kincade audiobooks that cost $$ to check out. But that issue is pretty much canceled out by the fact that I can wander up and down the aisles for hours and never get bored looking through books on obscure subjects that no other library would have.

Of all the El Dorado county libraries, this is considered the main library. I’m guessing because they have the largest inventory of books compared to the rest of the branches in the area. For me personally, it’s still a pretty small inventory. The community college in the city I grew up in had more books and was bigger than this place. There are no study rooms here, only little study cubicle desks. The furniture is from the 70s and pretty much the whole ambience of this place is very dated. Their DVD collection was pretty small as well. I noticed a lot of their reference books were pretty old and beat up. I was happy to see a good amount of home decorating books as well. Outside of the library is a xeriscape garden to the side and a nice c-shaped lawn shaded with trees if you wanted to read outside. In the gazebo it said there would be an outdoor movie on Saturday night(aka FilmFare), that’s actually pretty cool! I was just expecting a little more from this place since it was the main library but no wow factor for me.
